Have I watched everything that's worth watching or I can I just not find anything?

Any recommendations?

I think I got the year wrong - 1899? 😂

I'm binge-watching "Dead to me" at the moment.

This thread has reminded me to google why the main actors appearance changed so much in the third series. Apparently the actor has a serious health condition.

Yes, poor Christina has MS. She also had breast cancer a few years back. Not very fortunate with her health.

anythinginapinch · 15/12/2022 18:19

Watch films rather than series.

Ironfloor269 · 15/12/2022 18:22

There are some good Dutch/Scandi/German series like Dark, 1899, The Holiday (Dutch one, not the Christmas movie with Kate Winslet et al).

LemonDrizzles · 15/12/2022 18:32

The untold series is shockingly good

Prime is shit but I pay for the delivery so I can't drop it anyway! Anything watchable you have to pay for.

I recently gave up prime. All my orders are over an amount so free. And typically 3 days. You can see the guaranteed delivery date still.

Is it worth cancelling my Netflix and switching to Disney+ instead?

Disney+ now had Jessica Jones. I may just re watch the whole thing so they know how great it is. More please. Maybe David tennant comes back??

Beebumble2 · 15/12/2022 18:42

Try Gods Crooked Lines, real mystery working it out.

Is that more television or films? We had Apple TV before but only for Ted Lasso.

Same here - had a trial and only really enjoyed Ted Lasso. However I’ve recently got another free trial and really enjoying Bad Sisters on apple. Also enjoying Mythic Quest with the teens.

On Netflix lately I’ve enjoyed Superstore, and at the other end of the spectrum, Lady Chatterley’s Lover!

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 15/12/2022 18:49

Oh yes! Dead to Me and Good Girls both enjoyable female led crime comedy type shows that I’ve enjoyed in varying degrees depending on the series.

I said it up thread but thought it worth mentioning again - Apple is playing an absolute blinder with some of their shows.

The Morning Show
Severance
Ted Lasso
Slow Horses
Physical
Mythic Quest

Loot

All absolutely brilliant shows and well worth the money.

antelopevalley · 15/12/2022 18:57

I think I have watched anything worth watching on Netflix. It doesn't seem to have enough choice.

OppositeNumber · 15/12/2022 18:57

Also came here to big up Severance on Apple TV. Cannot wait for season two next year.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 15/12/2022 18:59

It’s SO GOOD @OppositeNumber and it took a while for the penny to drop…that the “worker” literally never leaves. I didn’t quite get the severity of it. They go into the lift but they never leave! It’s just so brilliant. Cannot wait for S2.

OppositeNumber · 15/12/2022 18:59

Also a Bojack fan. Same animators made Tuca and Bertie which is worth a look (can’t remember what service)

HS1990 · 15/12/2022 19:05

Recently watched Untouchable, I laughed so much and haven't done in a long time.

Kdrama - marriage contract ... omg I cried so much

I really enjoyed Troll actually 😄

Some of the dating and marriage shows like Big Day always spark discussions in my home

HS1990 · 15/12/2022 19:06

Trying on Apple TV is brilliant

EarringsandLipstick · 15/12/2022 16:58

I'm glad you liked it too, no one else I know seems to have watched it!

I do also like having a range of easy to watch family movies to look at with the kids.

I also watch some things over & over eg Motherland & Just Like Heaven (love that movie!) and it's handy to have them available (until they are not of course!)

Love life season 2 is on I player but I found it really dull compared to season 1 (might just be because I like anna Kendrick and missed her as the lead)

Facecream · 15/12/2022 19:07

I’m half sure I watch Netflix but it’s always DH who chooses and we have Disney plus for DD..
Recently watched (and loved)
The Patient
Candy

on Netflix
The Wonder
The Crown though I didn’t like the last season

Shows/films I can’t remember where they came from
Bad sisters
Licorice pizza

The Watcher (think that’s Netflix) is ok but wouldn’t rave about it
I couldn’t get into Yellowjackets

yoyy · 15/12/2022 16:48

Prime is shit.

Disney is good & apple tv has some good things. I just sign up for a new one, binge watch & then ditch.

This! No need to have loads of concurrent subscriptions. You can cancel instantly and sign up again in a heartbeat. The one we're getting most use out of at the moment I'd actually Channel 4! Pay £4.99 for no add, very worth it. Loads of great stuff on there

Fuwari · 15/12/2022 19:22

I found with Netflix the problem is you really need an account all to yourself. When I was with my ex I thought Netflix was crap because most of the recommendations were based on things he'd watched. Most of which weren't my thing.

Having had solely my own account now for a good while and "liking" things that I actually liked, has led to some really good recommendations of things that don't come up on trending or most popular. I'd never have found them just by browsing. There are many hidden gems, but it can be tricky finding them.

Mummieslncorporated · 15/12/2022 19:56

You don't need your own account to get personalised recommendations - just your own profile on the account.

antelopevalley · 15/12/2022 20:01

@Fuwari I find the personal recommendations really crap. If it was up to me we would cancel Netflix.

Sunnytwobridges · 15/12/2022 20:24

I think there's tons to watch but of course it depends on what you like to watch. My attention span sucks these days so if something doesn't grab my attention in the first 10-15 mins I stop watching, which means I prob miss out on some good shows. I always seem to find something to watch if I force myself to pay attention long enough.

darisdet · 15/12/2022 20:55

Thanks for the recommendations @Pothoswithasparkle I'll take a look at those
