Can’t stop crying - our cat has been killed just before Christmas

Not that there is any good time to be hit by a car and lay overnight on the freezing road but this morning I got a call telling me my cat had been killed on the road I live on and someone was kind enough to pick her up and take her to the vet who scanned her and call me ..

she was 18 months old. I got to speak to the lady who found her and she informed me she literally found her dead outside my house on the road and now I’m haunted she nearly made it home .

I’ve cried on and off the whole day. Can’t bear to be in the house .

I’m so sorry, it is very obvious she was really loved so many cats don’t get that lovely life. Try and remember how blessed she was to have you and however short her life was it was filled with happiness.

I'm so sorry op, this happened to my beautiful girl at the same age in march. I cried for a week and thought I would never stop feeling so sad. Its truly heartbreaking to lose a pet

our last family cat died just after new year 2016 but she had a good 11 years and we sensed it was coming, this just seems sooo more painful because we had her such a short time and it took a long time to find the right cat for our family and that’s what she was, she fitted right in.

i have gone back through my video doorbell and she was picked up briefly out there last night … the whole thing is just surreal.

i have two attached children to her and we were just leaving for school when they called at 8.30am… my husband went to the vets which was her vet anyway again on the road we live on and he was able to view her briefly he said her back had blood matted on her fur…

the vets are holding her tonight and we will bring her home and bury her next to the last cat we had in 2016 …

I don’t think I can go through this one again. It’s how she died and how young she was .

I’m so sorry for your loss OP. It’s so sad and painful to think about. Your gorgeous girl looks a bit like my beauty who we lost two years ago after a chronic illness. Cats just really are so lovely and such a part of your family.
I hope you are able to remember her with good memories rather than how she passed. Lots of love

So sorry for your loss. What a darling affectionate cat. I lost all 5 of my cats growing up to the road. Heartbreaking losing your besties. It took 30 years before I agreed to get more cats for my kids, on the undertstanding they would be house cats as our suburban road still gets very busy and we have off the lead park dogs very close. They are family. Very much loved and spoiled therapy cats. They hang out with us 247. Couldn't imagine it happening again. Time will help with your loss.

I’m so sorry. We lost our beautiful dog last week and I’m still destroyed with the pain. I completely get the can’t stop crying- I guess it’s shock and natural grieving but fuck me, it’s painful.

I am so so sorry, This happened to me this time last year with a 18 month old cat. Horrific. I was utterky devastated.

Can I ask are your house cats male or female? I currently have a 6 month old male who is neutered. I haven't let him out and don't know if I ever will for this very reason. I am so very sorry op, such a beautiful cat

Big hugs , we witnessed our kitten being ran over during the summer. I was waving at the car to get it to stop but they didn't even try. Just rolled over our cat at full speed. He died in my husbands arms while he roared his heart out. It was horrific. We cried for days. We also had to rehome the kittens sibling as we were so afraid of the road. Thankfully to my parents but it means we lost both cats the same night. It's so hard 😫
