Can’t stop crying - our cat has been killed just before Christmas

Not that there is any good time to be hit by a car and lay overnight on the freezing road but this morning I got a call telling me my cat had been killed on the road I live on and someone was kind enough to pick her up and take her to the vet who scanned her and call me ..

she was 18 months old. I got to speak to the lady who found her and she informed me she literally found her dead outside my house on the road and now I’m haunted she nearly made it home .

I’ve cried on and off the whole day. Can’t bear to be in the house .

I'm so sorry she was beautiful 💗 the same happened to our cat also very close to home, it broke my heart I sobbed for days. It was almost 2 years ago and I still have a little cry, so be easy on yourself pets are family members. And it's made even worse by being at a time of year that should be happy and joyful

My girl was knocked over at the bottom of our street. We purposefully moved to a quiet cul de sac for maximum safety but it still happened. The neighbours wrapped her in a blanket-- I saw her little foot and I knew it was her. It seemed so wrong and unfair. Really sorry OP

She was beautiful. I'm so sorry, life can be so cruel :-(

So sorry for your loss. She was a stunning cat. We had our cat pts in May and it's such a wrench turning round expecting to see them and remembering again.

it is a heartbreaking thing to go through - we've lost 3 on the road, the last 2 were sister's and both times, they were left for us to find. Like you, it haunted me to think they were on the way home when they were hit.overnight

In every case, it happened overnight, so we now put our cat flap to "in only" before dusk and don't open it until after the rush hour in the morning.
Touch wood, our current pair now automatically come home each evening and I don't have to worry about them getting run over overnight.

I’m so sorry. Our 15 year old cat was PTS last year and I still get tearful when I think of him. It’s such a painful loss, I’m genuinely so sorry.

I'm so sorry for your loss. This happened to me last year and I still really appreciate the person who scooped my cat up off the road and took him to a vet so we could know what had happened. Take care I know how painful it is x

I'm so sorry for your loss, she was a beauty. I had to have my cat put to sleep last week so know exactly how you feel.

So sorry. Same happened to our cat - similar age and very close to home. My god, I grieved for that cat. The thing that I struggled with was how beautiful she was - like yours - and then just gone. It’s awful.

Aww, you poor thing, I lost my boy last year, I fed him, he went out, I went out to the bin to see my neighbour looking down in the road, there he laid, not a mark on him, still warm, I broke my heart, im crying as I’m writing this. I do feel for you xx
