Did anyone buy into the Popsy dress hype during covid.

There was a new dress release every Friday at 12:00. Fans of the dress would eagerly wait for noon and then there would be loads of whinging by people who didnt get lucky because the dresses had sold out instantly. Many people complained that the dress was in their checkout basket but got taken out/

The facebook page was fierce. Anyone that dared critise the quality of the fabric was instantly shut down.
Every week it was virtually the same two dress styles but in different fabrics.
I'd forgotten about it until my friend called around last night seeing if I wanted one of her old dresses.

Never heard of it.

Cuppasoupmonster · 11/01/2023 10:00

They’re really frumpy and mumsy, not something I would wear. And the material is a bit shiny and cheap looking.

Nitwittwit · 11/01/2023 10:04

If you have something mean to say about the dresses, you should be aware it makes you look like one of those horrid gossipy mums that stand outside a school judging everyone as they go and pick up their children. Nobody likes you and if you think they do, they are just tolerating you because you’re a cow about everything.

Well thanks a lot for making me feel like shit and ruining my body positivity - of which I got tonnes from my Popsy dresses. Thanks so very much Biscuit

Frankly it isn't down to a stranger to like your dress in order for you to have or not have body confidence. The PP is allowed to have her own opinion on the style, she wasn't personally insulting you at all.

Lentilweaver · 11/01/2023 10:08

Do people really decide to wear swayed by the opinions of a bunch of internet strangers? Some of whom could be men. I don't. I happily wear Seasalt jumpers and coats even though everyone considers them frumpy.

Posters talking about the environmental impact certainly have a very good point.

Oh please

clothing is personal choice we have out likes and dislikes and the thread is about these dresses

you may think some of the clothes I wear are dull/too revealing/boring/unflattering but so what

MrsTag · 11/01/2023 10:10

They love them over on S and B . To me they look hideous. Seems to be worn by primary school teachers who need pockets.

Nogbreaks · 11/01/2023 10:10

Literally have no idea what you're on about! We barely left the house unless it was to exercise the kids, so no need for new clothes anyway...

EnglishGirlApproximately · 11/01/2023 10:11

I don't really have an opinion either way on Popsy, they look ok to me (but I still like fat fade which isn't allowed on MN so what do I know 🤷‍♀️)
Just a comment on buying clothing for holidays, particularly Disney. I went to Disney recently and I'd say around 30% of people there were wearing things specifically bought for Disney - ears, hoodies and t shirts with family names and travel dates on etc. Its definitely a thing at Disney, I'm surprised that people ate shocked by this, it's been going on years! Not my thing but have no problem with people who enjoy it. Mind you I'm guessing the PP is snobbish about Disney as the word Disneyworld was in apostrophes 🙄

Why is it mean or judgemental to dislike something? How is it at all similar to gossiping about a person?
So there are absolutely no clothing items or fashion styles you personally don't like?

'You're a cow and everyone hates you' is a much worse thing to say than 'I don't like those dresses because the shape is frumpy and the fabric looks cheap'. No idea how you don't see that.

Not a fan of the kitschy prints.

That’s your problem. People are allowed to share their views on clothes without it being ‘all about you’.

Dontlistitonfacebook · 11/01/2023 10:19

No I didn't get caught up in the hype (don't have Facebook).

I do have one Popsy dress though. İt's so comfy, has pockets, has a cute pattern.

Doesn't make me sweat and hasn't bobbled in the wash, am I wearing it wrong? 😂

Do you love every single fashion?
Do you like crocs? Uggs? Cold-shoulder tops? Harem pants? Low-rise trousers that show your pants? Tiny crop tops? Socks with sandals? Or no likes or dislikes at all?

The PP criticised dresses. Not people.

Nitwittwit · 11/01/2023 10:21

Looks like I’m hitting some nerves 😄

Springtoautumn · 11/01/2023 10:21

This is a really mean thread. Seems like an ethical family business to me. I’d rather buy from them than the likes of Boohoo.

The interesting thing is that your comments about people are far more nasty than what others have written about clothing. It’s quite amusing if you fancy a read back!

They’re a business. There’s absolutely no reason why people cannot discuss their products on here.

Nitwittwit · 11/01/2023 10:23

I think the people replying know that they’re the ones sat judging other people all the time and maybe they don’t like it being pointed out. Nerves; hit 😄

You’re just having such a weird reaction to people not liking a particular brand. Why take it so personally?
