Death penalty for dog poo

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:02

I am 100% against the death penalty, however I am willing to reconsider my position for people who leave dog shit on pavements. In the last two weeks, I have had to scrape shit out of pram tyres, toddler shoes and kid shoes. I don’t own a dog!
I fantasise about bringing these bastards to justice aibu?

It’s good to see a rational perspective on this to be honest, they’ve been seriously lacking around here of late

girlmom21 · 09/12/2022 22:06

Only as long as they're stoned first.

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:08

Why is anyone voting that I am unreasonable? Do they really enjoy dealing with other peoples dog shit?

They should go straight to hell and spend all of eternity cleaning dog poo off buggy wheels and wellies. I am with you, OP.

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 09/12/2022 22:10

Can we please add to that people who bag it up and leave it swinging decoratively from the bushes? If anything they're even worse. Also those who seem to drive to beauty spots for the specific reason of throwing all the take-away wrappers and cans littering their car out of the window.

listsandbudgets · 09/12/2022 22:10

YANBU

I own a dog and I clear up.after her. I also carry spare bags and pick up the shit of unknown dogs so people like you with small children don't have to tackle it. Theres also a man nearby who is blind and I saw him step in it. Thats when I.started picking up other dogs shit!

.I dont like doing it but it seems a sensible thing to do if Ive got the bags and the time. Somehow picking up your own dogs shit is not quite such an unpleasant experience.

I fantasise about putting it unbagged in pockets and shoes of offending owners..

Everyone has to have a hobby after all!

They are the shits that don't pick up the turds

Unforgettablefire · 09/12/2022 22:12

Yanbu if it really is dog shit. People complain around here about "dog shit" not realising it's actually fox shit.

Yep and sometimes human shit on beaches. Disgusting fuckers

evtheria · 09/12/2022 22:17

It's definitely getting worse in my area (which is already pretty bad).

I normally avoid confrontation but I really think I will lose it if I see someone not arsed about picking up their dog shit. Would it be worth getting kicked in the face to run after someone, tap on shoulder saying "You seem to have dropped this!" and then just (gloved up) plonk the poop in their hand? Or perhaps fling it at their back from a safe distance...

alasangne · 09/12/2022 22:18

They should have their dog taken off them. Death penalty is a bit much. If I let my toddler crap on the pavement I'd get in serious trouble if I just left it there.

Beginningless · 09/12/2022 22:21

I voted yanbu as I fully understand the rage but I’d settle for them being sent to an obligatory shoe/pram/child cleaning station set up in every neighbourhood where the fuckers have to go and do community service. Aren’t there some countries where workers go round and dna analyse the poo so people can be prosecuted? I’d be a million percent behind this and pay taxes for it etc.

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:21

@listsandbudgets you are a Saint. It resolves my feeling that we should be allowed to shoot people who leave poo on pavements. People like you should be knighted.

I strongly believe that you shouldn't own a dog until you've done basic owner training which includes picking up x 2 dog poos of varying consistencies from varying surfaces every day for a week, and disposing of it appropriately. Once you've 'passed' you get a licence and then you're allowed a dog.

Sprouttreesareamazing · 09/12/2022 22:22

Hose pipe on the JET setting is great for getting it off the bottom of shoes and buggy wheels...

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:22

@Beginningless I would happily pay more tax for this.

That's a good idea. And you have to have the phone number for the council in your phone so you can phone and apologise if your dogs done something so horrendous it needs a bleach

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:25

@Sprouttreesareamazing when I clean shoes with the hosepipe I always get them wet and they take 48 hours to dry. All because someone I don’t know wants to have a dog.

I absolutely hate dog poo being left in my neighbourhood. But I'm not a fan of the joke. So I voted YABU. The death penalty and the serious crimes that invoke it, and also the injustices and corruption involved are quite emotive.

I think people who make any kind of mess, dog poo/littering, should do community service cleaning up theirs and others messes.

Bring back dog licenses and charge for them and then the dog owners can pay for it

Beanbagtrap · 09/12/2022 22:26

A man who walked on the same track we took (and we always picked up after our dog) used to think that covering the dog poo up was a helpful act. He would push leaves over it with his walking stick. So you'll be merrily walking along and hit a dog shit surprise. How thoughtful.

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:28

@Itsabitnotcold not a joke. My toddler jumped o the sofa with shit on his shoes and I have spent the evening trying to get the stain out. If I find the culprit I would happily do time.

@Beanbagtrap what an absolute arsehat.

YANBU. There was an economic theory I studied at uni (back in the mists of time, so my recollection of the detail is hazy) which broadly went that the likelihood of the a crime being committed was a function of the likelihood of being caught x punishment x something I've forgotten.

So whilst the death penalty for dog poo might seem excessive, the theory would suggest it would be a highly effective deterrent.

XenoBitch · 09/12/2022 22:31

I can never understand how anyone walking their dog on the pavement (so on a lead) could fail to see them have a crap.

Saying that, I took my dog for an evening walk recently, and she did have a poo on the pavement. She did it in a shadow though, so I could not see it at all. I had to feel around for it with my hand in a poo bag. So, I did try, and apologies if I left a bit.

YABU as the death penalty is a bit much. Can't say I expect less on MN on a Friday night though
