Death penalty for dog poo

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:02

I am 100% against the death penalty, however I am willing to reconsider my position for people who leave dog shit on pavements. In the last two weeks, I have had to scrape shit out of pram tyres, toddler shoes and kid shoes. I don’t own a dog!
I fantasise about bringing these bastards to justice aibu?

Also some dog owners seems totally unprepared for when the dogs poo might not be solid and they can’t pick it all up. My sister walked her neighbour’s dog when they went away for a day. My sister took with her bags, kitchen towel and dettol.

Didn't we do this last week?

Yep & the week before 🙄 have to say it surprises me the amount of people who don't look where they're going!

PritiPatelsMaker · 09/12/2022 23:37

My DM who is a nightmare and a lunatic has been known to see someone let their dog poo outside her house, shovel it up and change them home shouting "excuse me love, you've left something behind".

Just clear your shit up! It’s not the Middle Ages - we shouldn’t have to inadvertently step in shit.

Well we shouldn’t have to look at the ground all the time. Children don’t

Prescottdanni123 · 09/12/2022 23:42

Thats grim. And I'm saying that as a dog owner.

WhiteSandyBeach · 09/12/2022 23:48

This is one of a few topics on which I am getting full-on militant in middle age. I have a dog. I pick up after the dog, because I am not an asshole. I have however lost all fear or hesitancy in confronting other dog owners who I spot fouling public places. So far an admittedly passive aggressive “Oh do you need a BAG, did you run out?” hasn’t failed, but I am ready to battle if needed 💪

Marytherese · 09/12/2022 23:50

I'm an animal lover but I have to admit I'm sick of dogs. They are EVERYWHERE. You cannot move for the fuckers. I was at my local market on Sunday and almost every single person had a dog with them getting under everyone's feet. The amount of shit on the pavement is testament to that.

Unforgettablefire · 10/12/2022 00:05

@momlette people shitting on beaches?? 🤢

bossybloss · 10/12/2022 00:09

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:21

@listsandbudgets you are a Saint. It resolves my feeling that we should be allowed to shoot people who leave poo on pavements. People like you should be knighted.

I agree!

Ledwood85 · 10/12/2022 00:15

Absolutely NBU.

Two fresh loads on my front garden this morning, right where my toddler loves to play. 😡

EIfie · 10/12/2022 00:19

Twice in eight days I've been scraping shit out of my kids' shoes. I am absolutely sick of it.

I am so filled with impotent rage. My house regularly has to deal with dog shit when we don’t have a dog (we don’t have a dog because I don’t want to deal with dogshit).

I don't get how you're dealing with it so regularly? We have a dog so often walk where people take dogs and have only ever once had a poo in the house issue

WandaWonder · 10/12/2022 03:18

Bobblemymind · 09/12/2022 22:08

Why is anyone voting that I am unreasonable? Do they really enjoy dealing with other peoples dog shit?

I agree totally with the op, by why have a poll then be surprised people pick the options?

harrassedmumto3 · 10/12/2022 03:32

Yanbu, and I would extend it to litterers of any kind!

BasiliskStare · 10/12/2022 03:58

I absolutely agree dog poo left on pavements is horrid - but where do people live where this is done? - We have signs up where I live which says how much you can be fined for not picking up after your dog - not trivial . One thing I do disagree with - apart from leaving it which is beyond dreadful ( I have dogs ) is people will bag it up and then leave under a tree or by a lamppost . OK no one can tread in it but it is leaving it for someone else to deal with. Very poor

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/12/2022 04:03

Another dog 💩 post

It sounds very reasonable to me, and I think the right to be on the firing squad would be a highly desirable lottery/auction prize.

Perhaps you’re lucky and live somewhere nicer/quieter/less doggy/whatever.

At the end of our road is a park and a school, so all the dog walkers use our road as a route, and so do the “walk the dog and do the school run at the same time” crowd. Some days it’s properly Jackson Pollocked with dog shit in all its myriad unpleasant varieties. Becomes impossible to avoid once some poor fucker with a pram or mobility scooter or frame has gone through it and muck-spreaded.

I don’t think the death penalty is quite right, though. I want them viciously tortured for life, no early release: that would be a good deterrent.

We have signs and fines too:

£1000 for dogs off lead in a section of the park: ignored.
£1000 for dogs in the children’s playground: ignored
£1000 for leaving dog poo: ignored, ignored, ignored

No one is out there enforcing those signs!

steff13 · 10/12/2022 04:51

Maybe bring back the pillory and pelt the offenders with dog poo.

This should become a mumsnet classic comment if there were such a thing. The complete unreasonableness of those in AIBU demanding assent from all and the life analogy of “ dealing with everyone else’s shit”. Could make a nice framed cross stitch gift 🎁

startfresh · 10/12/2022 08:52

YABVU if you do not include people who leave it on grass, too.

I have a dog and I would happily pay for a dog license, increased taxes or anything to bring in DNA testing to prosecute (including death penalty) irresponsible owners. I understand possibly missing one in a lifetime if you haven't seen it, but I keep an eye on my dog wherever he is to make sure I pick up after him. I hate seeing owners not watching their dog whilst it messes up fields. So I then can't trust my dog or child not to run into it on the field.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/12/2022 09:30

Death penalty is perhaps going a bit far. I think I’d have them put in the stocks outside Tesco’s and pelted with dog poo.

I say that as a dog lover and former owner, who never took a dog out without a sandwich bag to use as a glove, plus a piece of kitchen roll.
