To say don't vote Tory

Horsesandzebras · 07/12/2022 10:53

Little poll really to see how Mumsnetters feel towards the Tory Party

YANBU = I dislike how the Torys have managed the country
YABU = I like how the Tories have managed the country

I know it's unreasonable to tell you how to vote. I just think it will be interesting to guage their popularity on here.

so which tabloid are you writing for OP?

Your goady pole is totally. Just because 70% said they won’t vote tori doesn’t mean they’ll be voting for labour.

I won’t be voting tori, but neither will I vote labour. And herein lies the issue. Labour have zero credibility. They have no policies, and no, not wanting to make them known because the tori government will steal them is total bollocks and is essentially a get-out to avoid having to admit they don’t have anything.

But without policies labour won’t get votes. So even if the tories lose votes, if labour don’t gain those votes then the tories have a real chance of staying in power.

There isn't an election. Labour and the other parties will publish a manifesto with policies in when an election arises so people can decide then. You were never going to vote Labour so daft rants about no policies are pretty meaningless.

dancingqueen123 · 07/12/2022 21:08

YANBU!!!

Please, for the love of god, DON'T VOTE TORY.

dancingqueen123 · 07/12/2022 21:10

stickydoughnuts · 07/12/2022 10:59

MN is left leaning. Everyone shouts down people who admit to voting Tory. It will be a totally skewed poll, like most polls have been for the last decade. Few people are going to admit to voting Tory.

I will, but tbh it’s much of a muchness and I won’t mind that much if Keir gets in - it’s not like with JC where it would have been a clusterfuck.

If you don't mind then PLEASE vote for Kier. Things will be so much better ❤️

I thought you might conveniently forget Labour did not/does not support NATO and many in the party are actively against NATO. Of course you want to gloss over that small but not insignificant fact given we are on the edge of WW3.

If you could read my posts you would understand that I hold Russia responsible for the energy crisis. Fact. I also think the UK do have a degree of insulation due to diversifying sources. Both are true.

We had plans for influenza outbreak, shame that covid is not influenza. You can't have a plan for something no one knows about strangely.

Labour are bloody useless, things will be even worse with Angela at the helm with Starmer pretending his in charge when we know the unions are really the power behind the party - and just look at the carnage they are creating.

And if you are woman, you can forget about being one for much longer - you will be rendered invisible with no rights anyway. So make the most of talking out loud now pal, as our days of women's rights and voices are on borrowed time.

"Asked whether it is transphobic to say that 'only women have a cervix', Sir Keir said: 'It is something that shouldn't be said, it is not right'

Asked why Ms Duffield should not have made the remark, the Labour leader said: 'I don't think that we can just go through various things that people have said"

Are you actually supporting a man that can not even bring himself to acknowledge the desperate need of women's rights. The right to safety in prisons, hospitals and even a toilet.

And if you're a woman you can forget about being one for much longer - you will be rendered invisible with no rights anyway.

The Tory government threw away women's rights when PM Theresa May introduced their Self ID policy in 2017. Since then we have seen the fucking horror show that we have now. They lie say the right things but have done fuck all to repair the damage.

Maria Caulfield, Women's Minister is a pro life activist.
Mel Stride, Welfare Minister is pro cutting maternity benefit.
Jamie Wallis, Britain's first Trans MP, has just joined the Women's and Equality Select Committee.

The destruction of women's rights is one of the ways the Tories have wrecked the UK.

Things will be soooo much better, just as long as you're not female with a different opinion to the party dictact.

I love the way people build straw men about what they think Labour's policy on trans rights will be - as if the Tories are the protectors of women's issues. They'll protect old, rich, white women - after the old, rich, white men are looked after.

This^.

beguilingeyes · 08/12/2022 07:54

Yesterday the news was all about heating one room at a time and trying to keep your house at 18°. Welcome to Britain in 2022.
Our rivers are full of shit, farmers are warning of food supply issues, no one will notice if ambulances go on strike because you can't get one anyway and Sunak claims to be shocked by Michelle Mone's grift despite being chancellor at the time. This government is disgusting .
I think that the likes of Johnson and Gove should be tried for treason for what they've done to this country. Brexit has destroyed us.

Mangolist · 08/12/2022 11:00

Another thing that people may not be aware of is the current difficulty in a lot of places of finding various antibiotics for children. I had to send two days trying to get some for my four year old granddaughter who had tonsillitis, all of us were hunting down pharmacies. I'm not the only one either.
It's a spiral that starts with being unable to get a GP appointment in time, via pharmacies running out, onto no pharmacies having any..

Horsesandzebras · 08/12/2022 12:11

I feel it is the adult RF members responsibility to take their children out of this god awful "Trueman Show" scenario of being born Royal and being gawped at, analysed and torn apart all the time.

Harry has taken them out of the RF version and put them in the celebrity version.

I'm not going to watch any of it, because I'm going to respect their privacy.

I hope once they have enough money to pay for their security and retirement they can go live in blissful peace.

Jansobieski · 08/12/2022 12:17

@MichelleScarn hungry and cold, poor and unable to strike v a policy affecting a miniscule number of trans people that hasn't even been decided. Wow what a choice 🙄

Who exactly is "Kier" and what party do they stand for? Or do you mean Keir? (Sir Keir Rodney Starmer KCB KC to give him his proper title.) But that surely can't be the case, you can't support a party that much if you don't even know the name of the person who is running it.

FWIW I think the question...
YANBU = I dislike how the Torys have managed the country
YABU = I like how the Tories have managed the country
...is not particularly helpful. I dislike how things have been managed so would have to say YANBU, but that doesn't mean that I think Labour would have done things any better, nor do I have faith that Labour will be better than the Tories if they form the next government.

It goes back to the old question, would you rather be stabbed or have acid thrown in your face? On balance I think stabbing is less bad but it doesn't mean I want it to happen. I'd like another choice, neither. But the problem with politics is that when there's an election the choices are the equivalent of stabbing, acid in the face, being shot, being pushed over a cliff or being poisoned. You have to choose which option you think is most bearable, or least unbearable, for you personally.

I'd rather be stabbed (voting Tory) than have acid thrown in my face (voting Labour). I'd probably rather get shot (voting Lib Dem) but that's an unlikely outcome due to the difficulty of obtaining a firearm in this country (the equivalent of hoping for the party with most MPs after the next election not being either of the main two).

Jansobieski · 08/12/2022 12:28

Fully lefty bingo in that post
Congrats
@hamstersarse so no one has to accept some accountability for the consequences of their voting choice ? Brexshit, corruption, deception, collapse of most public services because of tory misgovernment over the last 12 years. Why the pearl clutching ? Why can't we be angry at how things have turned out and feel some frustration at folk who still pursue the party line that everything is great, nothing to see. Maybe @hamstersarse tell us what good things the tories have actually done rather than promised.

They won't. The concept of 'good' is genuinely alien to them. It's a meaningless idea, if not related to earnings or feeling superior.

Florenz · 08/12/2022 12:33

The Tories will lose the next election but it's not like Kier Starmer is going to be a great PM either. The quality of politicians in this country at present is extremely low.

Jansobieski · 08/12/2022 12:34

@Dotjones
What a stupid analogy. Crikey have our expectations fallen so low ? When did people become so bovine and passive ? Happy to see the country in a real life race to the bottom rather than vote for a marginally different party who may change things for the better.

Jansobieski · 08/12/2022 12:36

@Florenz how so ? Did you have confidence in Johnson ?

Florenz · 08/12/2022 12:41

Jansobieski · 08/12/2022 12:36

@Florenz how so ? Did you have confidence in Johnson ?

No not at all. But I don't think he was significantly worse than any of the other contenders.

DdraigGoch · 08/12/2022 13:24

I've no idea who to vote for. I want adequate funding for services, so that leaves the Conservatives out. Every time I feel tempted by a Labour policy they come up with something new to put me off. I'm very concerned about the environment, but the Greens are too busy announcing their pronouns to acknowledge the benefits of infrastructure such as nuclear power or high speed rail. The Lib Dems are just as bad, and I'm keeping well away from nationalist parties.

So that leaves me with the Official Monster Raving Loony Party as my only option, if they're even standing locally.

What a time to be alive.

malificent7 · 08/12/2022 13:34

Imo, trans rights are the least of our worries and not a step towards Gilead as some on here would have us think.

Some call it trans rights but it’s really women’s rights that are the issue and likely will feature at next election.

PearlclutchersInc · 08/12/2022 13:40

Are you polling on behalf of the Labour party 😁

WhenDovesFly · 08/12/2022 13:42

As someone who has been over the age of 18 for more years than she'd like to admit, I feel I am able to do my own research and make my own mind up about how to vote.

I don't accept anyone telling me which party to vote for or to not vote for.

Blossomtoes · 08/12/2022 16:28

I doubt very much that anything much apart from the cost of living will feature at the next election unless we miraculously feel wealthier by then. It’s the economy that matters, particularly now.
