I don't have heating on overnight and 10.5 tog not cutting it. Should I get 13.5 or 15?

10.5 with a wool blanket most nights so I’m can get rid of blanket if too warm plus hot water bottle/ microwaveable wheat bag when really cold. Planning on using this Wednesday night for example when forecast to go down to -4 here.

We have 10.5 tog, heating off, sleep naked. Window closed this year for our new born. But I usually leave it on storm latch throughout the winter and just add an extra blanket and a top if it's very cold. My husband is like a furnace so i don't tend to get cold, we both run fairly hot.

Orormno · 06/12/2022 06:28

10.5 on the bed, I have an extra blanket and wear socks, vest and pyjamas, dp doesn’t. Then we have a 4.5 tog folded over the bottom to pull up when it gets really cold. Haven’t needed to yet this year

3-4 tog. NE Scotland. No heating on at night.

I was really hoping to see someone else mention pregnancy. Ever since having my son (2 years go!) I am like a furnace at night. Is that normal?!

How funny you mention pregnancy, had my dd 8 weeks ago and since then I'm seeming to be running a bit cooler than usual. We're having to sleep with the window closed this year (as dd is in with us) which is unheard of for me regardless of the weather and I'm coping very well with it, which usually I'd be extremely uncomfortable.
Pregnancy really does change your whole body.

@WibblyWobblyTimeyWimeyStuff - M&S do a good selection of duvets and not too expensive. I have a 1 tog and 4.5 tog from there and they wash really well in the washing machine.

Roselilly36 · 06/12/2022 07:34

13.5 at the moment, 4.5 in the spring and then it starts to get hot in summer just the duvet cover.

Athenen0ctua · 06/12/2022 07:36

We each have a 7.5 tog with a weighted blanket or top. Heating timed to go off at 1930, new build.

TinkyWinkyRainbowHead · 06/12/2022 07:36

If I’m remembering rightly it’s a 10.5. We use the same one all year round and just have sheets over us if it’s too hot. Our house is very well insulated so no need for a massive quilt.

Untitledsquatboulder · 06/12/2022 07:38

4 plus a woollen blanket and hot water bottle. Am thinking of moving up to the 7 togg. Have a 10.5 but its always too hot (dh adds a lot of warmth.

Does anyone have the hearing on overnight? It would need to be about minus 10 before I'd consider that.

We have 13.5 and an extra blanket, def go for 15!
