I don't have heating on overnight and 10.5 tog not cutting it. Should I get 13.5 or 15?

4.5 with blankets because I get too hot then cold again then too hot again and it's easier to adjust blankets.

As an aside, where do you all store your duvets when not in use?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 05/12/2022 20:49

4.5 tog, no heating on overnight & window open a crack.
I've always been a warm person but if start to feel cold I just put a t shirt on in bed. (I sleep in my knickers)
However when my partner stays over (separate houses) I get too hot as he's like a blooming nuclear reactor & likes to sleep cuddled up whereas I like my space, so I'm finding I'm kicking the covers off before I melt down.

Heating is off at night too - we still have a 1 tog on !!!! I sleep with full pjs on as it’s too cold for me but DP sleeps naked and is still warm !

Same here. No PJs, just a t shirt and socks for me, but I do wake up pinned down by five foster kittens, so I don't know how many togs they account for.

But I'm melting at the thought of all these 13.5 tog duvets. Are you all sleeping on the lawn?

DaftdoubleDaffodil · 05/12/2022 20:52

15…pre DP I used to have TWO 13.5! It was amazing… DP often says I’m a lizard (cold blooded), he’s said no to the double duvet arrangement 😤

Furrydogmum · 05/12/2022 20:53

Four, we were a little chilly last night..

cobblers123 · 05/12/2022 20:47

Oh fantastic, someone like me who feels the cold.

My friends think I'm nuts and burst out laughing when I tell them what's on my bed.

They do have partners though so extra body heat, I don't as I never get tired of pointing out as they chortle away. 🙄

I think we must be related or something - because I also sleep alone!

I would highly recommend the caridgan - got mine for 99p on ebay!

usernotfound0000 · 05/12/2022 20:59

3 tog all year round. No heating overnight, it kicks in about 6am and I usually wake up sweating! Haven't even got the joys of the menopause yet - I expect I'll just be using a sheet then!

torquewench · 05/12/2022 21:02

I've got a 15 with a brushed cotton cover on it, and brushed cotton sheet👌

Itsabitnotcold · 05/12/2022 21:03

I have a 13.5, it keeps us warm with an electric blanket and no heating. I despise it. It's too heavy and thick but we'd be cold otherwise. Can't wait till its warm enough to get rid

Redglitter · 05/12/2022 21:03

1 tog duvet & my window is open 🤦🏻‍♀️

DimplesToadfoot · 05/12/2022 21:04

Another Menopausal 4.5tog user here.

I do have warm hand crocheted blankets on standby if needed.

And a warm dog :-)

Itsabitnotcold · 05/12/2022 21:06

@FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee in a vacuum seal bag on the wardrobe.

twinkletwinkle007 · 05/12/2022 21:07

10 but heating on at night hete

ItWasntMyFault · 05/12/2022 21:08

4.5 tog and no heating. The menopause does have some advantages.

Itsnotallblackandwhite · 05/12/2022 21:14

Just changed from autumnal 4.5 tog to 10 tog and no heating overnight (NW). I do have to kick the duvet off though some nights. I rotate a sheet, 1 tog, 4.5 and 10 tog duvets throughout the year, with a blanket handy just in case.

My menopausal Dsil still uses 13.5 tog all year round, I don’t know how she does it 😓

Itsnotallblackandwhite · 05/12/2022 21:15

i also just wear a t-shirt and knickers to bed in winter

AriettyHomily · 05/12/2022 21:16

Never have heating on overnight, think ours is 10.5, sleep in a vest and knickers but I'm SE not the north of Scotland!

HRTQueen · 05/12/2022 21:19

10.5 with a teddy fleece duvet cover that makes the difference it’s so cosy I don’t want to get out of bed

im peri menopausal but luckily not getting hot flushes

Outtasteamandluck · 05/12/2022 21:19

I sometimes have 2 13.5 tog duvets in the winter

HRTQueen · 05/12/2022 21:20

And never have hearing on in the bedroom at night my room is quite cold I like it that way

HippyChickMama · 05/12/2022 21:25

10.5 with a thin, but heavy, quilted bedspread on top and I sleep naked. I hate being too hot and am peri menopausal and the hot flushes have started. In the summer the duvet will be relegated altogether and will have a top sheet and the bedspread instead

Greatbiggoldfish · 05/12/2022 21:35

9 tog with a throw over my feet .. only just moved up from the 4.5 last week . South East .. not used the two duvets together for a few years

dizzygirl1 · 05/12/2022 21:36

4.5 tog don't think I'm menopausal..... always had a 4.5 tog.

WhoopItUp · 05/12/2022 21:38

Hang on, some people have heating on a night? All night? Really???

To answer the question, 4.5, sleep naked and I’m still boiling 🤷🏻‍♀️

DramaAlpaca · 05/12/2022 21:40

Menopausal and find a 4.5 tog too warm. I need to be able to throw layers on an off so have a 2.5 tog, plus a couple of light throws. I have a sheet under the duvet too, in case I'm still too hot. No heating on overnight and the ensuite window open. Poor DH has decamped to the spare room bed with its cosy 10.5 tog duvet.
