I don't have heating on overnight and 10.5 tog not cutting it. Should I get 13.5 or 15?

We’ve got high ceilings and it’s cold in our house generally. We’ve got a 13.5 tog with a sheet and a fleece blanket underneath. Fleece blankets really make a difference.

Heating off at night. 10.5 tog. Might regret that this week when DH isn't here!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 05/12/2022 20:09

I have two 15 tog duvets and a fleece throw. I have an electric blanket as well to warm the bed. I haven’t had any heating on upstairs yet this winter though so my bedroom is quite cold.

MintyGreenDreams · 05/12/2022 20:10

We have 15.5

Montgomerymmoose · 05/12/2022 20:16

No heating and only me in the bed . I have two 13.5 tog duvets on . I have a 1 tog for summer .

Pushkinia · 05/12/2022 19:44

7.5 tog is my winter duvet (and I’m still often too hot, even with no heating on). Summer duvet is 2.5 tog!

Same, but if I am chilly I just stick a blanket over the top.

sageandrosemary · 05/12/2022 20:17

4.5 and the window open, not menopausal, I've always liked it really cold at night. That said, I have started closing the window now when I wake up midway through the night as it's a little too cold.

BHRK · 05/12/2022 20:19

13.5… cosy

LondonSouth28 · 05/12/2022 20:20

I have 10 tog, a heated blanket and then 13.5 tog on top of that. Total being 23.5 tog plus a heated blanket on. I have zero ability to heat myself. I am looking forward to hot flushes.

cobblers123 · 05/12/2022 19:41

13.5 plus a throw plus a folded throw on my feet plus my dressing gown over the top of all that. Plus bed socks.

I do feel the cold though and can't bear cold feet, I don't sleep if they're not warm.

Oh my god - this is my exact set up - plus a hot water bottle!

Tonight I've added a hand knitted aran cardigan to the mix too because I'm sat up watching the football in bed!

Mydogatemypurse · 05/12/2022 20:26

13.5 all year round. With a throw over in winter. In fact tonight i have 2 throws.

Bigslippers · 05/12/2022 20:29

ofwarren · 05/12/2022 19:36

13.5 all year round
I like a heavy duvet.

Same! I’m a freezer by nature and also put top sheets and an extra thick throw on top in winter.
Summer Im the same but poke my foot out when I start getting hot 🥵

FinallyHere · 05/12/2022 20:30

2.5 tog. Still wake up with a film of sweat on my forehead every morning.

DH is mobility challenged following surgery for cancer so needs to have the house a lot warmer than I would choose.

It is what it is.

ilovesooty · 05/12/2022 20:35

4.5 tog. I was too hot last night. I've got a weighted blanket for if it gets chilly.

Donna1001 · 05/12/2022 20:38

4.5tog, no heating overnight (goes off around 9.30). We have a throw to go over it if it’s get too cold but I rarely need it at the moment.
But I’m sure that will change as it gets colder.

Tillsforthrills · 05/12/2022 20:39

10.5 with a weighted blanket, heaven.

Kiitos · 05/12/2022 20:05

@Pushkinia me too except my summer duvet is 1 tog! Best purchase ever!
I layer up my 7.5 tog winter duvet with a quilt and a crochet blanket though. Easier to control temperature that way!

Me too … went from 1 tog to 4.5 in October and caved for a 7.5 tog this weekend. It’s a bit hot though!

No heating overnight, Victorian semi … but I was actually feeling cold the last few weeks

PeloFondo · 05/12/2022 20:41

A warm wool one, says it's the equivalent of 10-14 tog
Plus a cotton blanket and patchwork blanket
And pjs and socks

GooglyEyeballs · 05/12/2022 20:43

I have a tog 15 and wow it is so warm and heavy I love it!

JaceLancs · 05/12/2022 20:45

10.5 plus heated under blanket
when it gets colder I go thicker but can’t remember if it’s 13.5 or 15
in spring I have 4.5
in summer I have a 1 tog!

cobblers123 · 05/12/2022 20:47

Oh fantastic, someone like me who feels the cold.

My friends think I'm nuts and burst out laughing when I tell them what's on my bed.

They do have partners though so extra body heat, I don't as I never get tired of pointing out as they chortle away. 🙄

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 05/12/2022 20:48

13.5 with heated throw on top and the cat when she can be arsed…

EdithGrantham · 05/12/2022 20:48

4 and sometimes a fleecy blanket, no heating and the little window open but I am in long PJs and co-sleeping part of the night.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 05/12/2022 20:49

I did get an electric blanket which I’m using now too but I think I prefer scalding my feet on a hot water bottle!
