When the stakes are this high doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?

what stakes? what are they on about?

OP posts:

It has to be dramatic wording or no one will watch.

vera99 · 04/12/2022 07:56

Telegraph reporting that there won't be any new bombshells with a lot of framing the historic narrative etc. for a global audience to understand the context. Basically Oprah+ probably the 10 minute highlight will have the juice if any.

Fidelity and monogamy Charles should have tried it but he didn't and here we are.Had they stayed happily married and brought the boys up together with maybe more children then Di would probably never had died and Harry wouldn't have become so screwed up. Just a thought obviously a bit radical for the head of the CofE....

I agree to a point, but I think a lot of this has come from him being the second son. I read a couple of interviews saying he was worried he had a shelf life and his platform for charity etc would disappear as soon as George was old enough to be interesting to the press. He needn't have worried about that...

Yep.

I’ve never bought that she didn’t know what she was walking into. Aside from the fact they make it very clear, Harry has known nothing else and would surely have told her ‘yeah you have to kiss babies and trail around after me in a pretty dress forever’.

I think she thought that once she was in The Firm she’d be in a position to shake things up. That’s the Hollywood way, but not the Royal way.

Diana wasn't prepared for the life as a senior royal, even though she was aristocracy and grew up around the royals. Harry let Meghan down, because he let her get things wrong. Their illusions about swanning about in Africa were cut short. As said, very few people would want the life as a royal.

What they did was history making. We are interested in history. In my lifetime there's been a more in-depth look into the character and personalities of the Kings/Queens and their spouses. People are interested in back stories. It's quite special to have that in their own words, just like the Diana interview. We either buy into the birthright bullshit or we don't. In which case, a Prince sixth in line to the UK throne making documentaries is ground breaking.

vera99 · 04/12/2022 08:11

As is 8th in the line being encouraged to give evidence to the FBI regarding his friendship of a dead paedophile sex trafficker and a living convicted felon of the same stripe. Shame Julian Assange doesn't have blue blood or he wouldn't be languishing in Belmarsh awaiting extradition.

WokeIntoChristmas · 04/12/2022 08:11

M&H's lives would be so great if they had just bitten their tongues and spent 2 years touring the world doing amazing things like Diana did. They could have built a fantastic reputation for themselves, whilst earning some.

Instead, they have chosen narcissism, spite and greed.

I think we will peak M&H drama over the next 4 months with the book and Netflix. They have left the RF and no longer have any narcissistic feed, so they won't have anything new to say. I also think they'll be very surprised in 6 months' time when the RF have had enough and vote to save the crown, rather than their relationship with Harry and strip him of his titles. With Harry a normal person, who is going to be interested in him, and he has no other talent to fall back on.

AutumnCrow · 04/12/2022 08:14

If there’s no bombshells from H&M then I guess they’re not going to opine on Andrew, which is a shame.

The royal omerta on that one still holds. It’s one thing they all still have in common.

ReneBumsWombats · 04/12/2022 06:04

Are we not talking about them right now?

Yes, but I am just a randomer passing comment on a forum. My point was that nobody else in the media is trying to tell their story for them, only they are doing that.

GrandOleOpryNights
I will most definitely not be watching their fairytale next week.

StormzyinaTCup · 04/12/2022 08:14

but he didn't and in the end karma is a bitch called Megan.

let's hope Karma doesn't visit Meghan or Harry with their own children.

Both of them have walked away from their own families stating they are/were dysfunctional and the environment damaging and to 'end the genetic pain'
but they're don't seem to be considering how damaging and/or dysfunctional they may be making their own family and may end up ending one 'genetic pain' and creating a new one all of their own, they are clearly both bitter and intent on some sort of revenge and I doubt it gets left behind the closed door of their study in Montecito. Not forgetting everything is out there on the web for their children to see and read.

So yes, in my opinion, the stakes are high for them but I'm not sure in the way they allude to.

PonyPatter44 · 04/12/2022 08:15

Would Mumsnet create a Megan & Harry topic, so that people who want to bang on endlessly about this rather boring couple could stop cluttering up the boards for everyone else? @Mumsnet, please???

vera99 · 04/12/2022 07:23

All Charles had to do way back when was to tell Camilla its over now the game has changed and I'm going to love (whatever that is !) and cherish my beautiful young wife and grow together....but he didn't and in the end karma is a bitch called Megan.

Eh????

Ozgirl75 · 04/12/2022 04:50

In fact maybe she’s the equivalent of Fergie, Sophie or Timothy Lawrence. Again, although they are “known”, no one expects that much from them!

H&M were made presidents of the Commonwealth. That was to be one of their roles, so there were expectations.

As for bad mouthing the royal family, it was the royal advisors and 'the palace' they criticised, just like, Margaret, Charles and Diana had. Anne rejected titles for good reasons, as did Edward.

Can you imagine what it’s going to be like once the show’s aired.
Thread after thread. And half of them will be deleted. A topic would be good.

Problem with their own words is most people will say whatever they think shows them in a better or more deserving light. It may be their truth as they perceive it but may still be untrue.
I remember falling out with my mil for a while and looking back I weaponised everything she had ever said to me for a while until I realised I was being ridiculous.
This is what H& M appear to be doing imo. It’s not healthy.

GoingtotheWinchester · 04/12/2022 08:23

@Ozgirl75 why do people not show the same hate towards Will & Kate who fly around in helicopters and private jets and lecture us on climate change? Giving Will all that publicity for his hypocritical prize instead?

Double standards 🤷‍♀️

Are you kidding! There are endless threads about them. People talk about them all the bloody time. You are talking about them!

Good idea and don't let them appear in trending as its just too tempting. But they won't of course as the the site humming away is good for business.

Whydidimarryhim · 04/12/2022 08:24

I wonder if the royals will watch it - sitting down with pizza and beer to listen to the comedy duo that is H @ M. 😁😁Megan needs a drama - and this is hers for now. - what next - what have they got to offer after the comedy and the book - Spare -

Missgemini · 04/12/2022 08:24

We really do need a specific mumsnet section for this. Every day M&H bashin threads!
OP, please bore off!

One can just imagine one's anger if a misplaced pen causes a temper tantrum with an furious Camilla on her 4th large G&T he truly is the Heir of Sorrows.

Would you say this to all the husbands who are unfaithful, or is it just royalty who should stick with a sinking ship? How many single parents are there who should have taken your advice?

AutumnCrow · 04/12/2022 08:29

There are boards that threads like this could go on already: The Royal Family and In The News spring to mind.

NorthStarRising · 04/12/2022 08:30

I think they’re all doing a grand job of entertaining the masses.
Which is largely what Royalty has been about for centuries.

TheHouseIsInACircleNow · 04/12/2022 08:30

It’d be great if this pair of grabby, fame-hungry attention seekers just didn’t get any airtime at all, including on here. There’s only so much mileage in washing dirty linen in public for money to fund a millionaire lifestyle, and they’re quickly running out of road. It’s so…… demeaning. They have not one ounce of dignity or self-respect.

openscanofworms · 04/12/2022 08:31

Credible threats on her life - just like every member of the Royal family has had, I guess. Scary stuff.
Not sure we need to hear their side of the story though. They chose to leave the RF and so they lost the benefits that go with that.
