AIBU to be getting fed up with Michael Sheens motivational speeches for anything Welsh ?

Slight derail, but we saw Bryn Terfel (Welsh bass-baritone opera singer with a HUGE voice) in Marks and Spencer a few weeks back. He was with an adorable little boy (grandson?) who was pressing that button that goes 'Moo' at the end of the dairy aisle and trying to get him to join in with it. He could see that several people had recognised him and he had a little 'Do I or don't I?' moment and then let out a restrained but very operatic 'Moooooo!' I wish he'd really gone for it - he'd have filled the entire shop!

I shall now rejoin my place in the queue to have Michael Sheen shout through my letterbox.

I got muddled with Sheen actors and thought you were talking about Martin Sheen and couldn't get the connection with Wales !

Can’t stand him. His moaning about the Queen’s funeral was pathetic.

I'm conflicted.

He is a great orator. The speech that went viral recently, the one he made on some panel show hosted by Richard Ayoade, did he make that up on the spot?

But then on the other hand I did roll my eyes when he married a woman only 5 years older than his 20 year old daughter and thought 'you big old cliché'.

It just sort of makes you unnnnnnnghhhh inside, just reading it. He's a legend. And everything he says there is right. CYMRU AM BYTH!

I love him, he is brilliant, but agree about the clichéd marriage. Put me off a bit (I am sure he will be gutted if he finds out!). He can still come and shout through my letter box, although my letter box may be a bit too vintage for him. 🤣

DH was Welsh and couldn’t bear him either.

I can’t bear him but he’s a fantastic narrator, The book of Dust read by him is amazing.

I'll be so glad when this bloody tournament is over. I'm proudly English and British, but World Cup nationalism nauseates me. The World Cup has got nothing to do with friendship, or "bringing the world together." George Orwell described it as "war without the killing," which is spot on. I watched Argentina play the other night. When they scored, the camera panned along the crowd. Some of the facial expressions were hideous –people literally screaming and crying with joy or rage. Horrible. And it had nothing to do with actual game – I mean with the 22 men kicking a piece of inflated leather around a patch of grass. Football is often an incredibly boring thing to watch. People don't get worked up over the match itself. They scream and cry because their nation has been triumphant (or humiliated).

The Welsh are allowed to have a voice, you know.

I quite like him but given the choice, I'd rather have Bryn Terfel bellowing through my letterbox.

I am Welsh and I think they're OK, what makes it cringy is that no one knew how to react to it or when to clap so there was a bit of an awkward bit at the end 😂
