The weird stuff about Mcd’s

Anyone else think it’s just odd food at McDonald’s?
It tastes so bloody good…like magic good…what is in the mayo type sauce etc 🤷🏻‍♀️
But…why does it fill you up, then an hour later you’re hungry again etc?
For example, Burger King is good also, but it proper fills me up and feels like proper food, Mcds doesn’t but it tastes so good 😫

Doesn't touch the sides on me either. I so seldom get one but my partner loves mcdonalds so I have said I'd have one on the odd occasion she's ordered one. It is quite nice but seems very small gone in 2 mins and I'm always hungry again an hour later.

My dad works as an engineer in huge bakeries all over the place. Many of these places sell to their workers and contractors. It wasn't unusual for him to come home with a huge box of soreen or 20 boxes packets of M&S Bakewell tarts. One day he came back with about 200 burger buns. MacDonalds burger buns.
We froze them and mum intended on using them for meals, packed lunches and BBQs etc. Nope. They were rank. So unbelievably sweet that they only worked with MacDonalds patties. Trying to make a Dairylea sandwich or a ham roll was disgusting. That's when I learned that MacDonalds bread isn't edible unless it's served there.
And I still love a Maccy's. And as a farmer, I'm well aware of where the meat comes from.

xogossipgirlxo · 17/11/2022 15:18

Makes me wonder too. Maybe because it's all high carbs, white bun, potatoes etc., so there's sugar spike in blood. There are no veggies as well, except some odd slice of pickle or tomato.

I tried a MCPlant meal the other day, had it with an orange juice because the milkshake maker was broken, and I was stuffed for ages. I wonder if the plant proteins take longer to digest. I really liked it and will now be my standard order.

The ingredients in the m plant (ignoring the meat) are way more UPF

catsonahottinroof · 17/11/2022 15:19

I don't get really full when I've had one, so agree it's very unsatisfying. Part of it might be the type of bread they use, it's really light and full of air and must be full of preservatives - probably similar to the type of food they take into space. The only other factor is the chips which are also unsubstantial and mostly just fat with no flavour unless they are salted.

I'm laughing so much at the hungry AND McDonalds AND hungry again 🤣

The "giving your children McDonald's is child abuse" people will be along soon!

'It's not even food!! Nuts and seeds are far more nutritious!'

It’s full of low quality carbs that have a high GI (potato fries, processed white bread bun, sugars in sauces). Shortly after eating they spike your blood sugar and make you produce insulin. A side effect of the insulin is to make you feel hungry again.

Best avoided.

As a type 1 diabetic I find the waffles and the egg mcmuffin (without cheese) don’t have a great impact on me, no more than a home made chip would or a shop bought english muffin. The fries are okay for me as well, where as Burger King fries are a no no for me.

' It doesn't fill us up for long fir the same reason there companies enslave, torture and kill billions of animals every year.'

Do McDonald's cows come from special McDonald's torture farms? Because all the cows in the farms round here don't seem to be enslaved and tortured. They just sit about in the field eating grass.

CourtneeLuv · 17/11/2022 15:31

YABU becuse now I want mcd's!

Sarahcoggles · 17/11/2022 15:37

I think the weird thing is that people actually like it! I'm not a vegan or a food puritan , I like crap as much as the next person. But McDonald's really is revolting. Everything tastes as if it's been blended up and mashed into shape. The coatings are soggy and greasy, the nuggets are like the cheapest nastiest Iceland nuggets, the ice cream tastes like lard, the burgers are vile.

I take the kids as they like it, but I'm never tempted by the crap they buy.
KFC is so much nicer!

Herejustforthisone · 17/11/2022 15:37

If I’m full after a McDs it’s because I’ve drunk all my Coke, which has then gone through me.

QuiteSomeTime · 17/11/2022 15:49

the ‘it makes your blood sugar high and then crashes so you’re starving again’ theory makes no sense for me anyway. I’m diabetic and I’m craving it again an hour after I’ve eaten it even if my blood sugar is still high

ThatshallotBaby · 17/11/2022 15:50

I love McDonalds. Truly. I have a McPlant. It’s just gorgeous.

Bunchymcbunchface · 17/11/2022 15:52

I tend to fill full after a maccys but then I usually have double quarter pounder with cheese, 3 chicken dippers, medium fries, milkshake and an apple pie……

Witchofthedales · 17/11/2022 16:00

Ooh I love a McDonald's, the chicken nuggets and sweet curry sauce are something else.

WhenIgrowup42 · 17/11/2022 16:01

Sausagedoggy · 17/11/2022 13:17

I'm stuffed for ages after McDs but it makes a lot of people hungry quite quickly. It's because it's heavily processed with lots of sugar which goes straight into your bloodstream. You then crash a few hours later and crave more.

Probably why it also tastes so good 🤣

Moveoverdarlin · 17/11/2022 16:02

Just reading this makes me want a quarter pounder with cheese. Drooling.

AntlerRose · 17/11/2022 16:02

Yes, your whole daily calorie intake in ine meal. One hour later, starving.

I rarely fancy a McDonalds purely for that reason. Just not worth the calories! Tasty at the time but by the time I get home and put the shopping away (mine is half an hour drive away) I'm bloody starving again! I think the buns are just full of air 🤷🏼‍♀️

The 'weird' stuff about macdonalds to me js that they market 'happy meals' to children with little toys inside and it's all part of this giant propaganda we've been, well, fed since a young age to make us think that these cows lived a happy life and died happily or 'humanely'.

And as adults we still go into these places and buy this shit and never truly connect with what (no, tbf, with WHO) we are eating because we've been lied to our whole lives. Trained not to look and not to ask questions.

It doesn't fill us up for long because it's not supposed to. It doesn't fill us up for long fir the same reason there companies enslave, torture and kill billions of animals every year. And for the same reason they tell lies to us about it - profit.

Our bodies have evolved to eat and process meat, so you're wrong that "it's not supposed to".

However - most McDonalds meals are heavy on cheap white carbs and low on protein/veg, which is why you'll be hungry not long afterwards. Unless you eat something with plenty of protein, like a quarter pounder (30g) or 10 chicken nuggets (26g).

BloodyHellKen · 17/11/2022 16:17

IMO the only weird thing about McDs is that people choose to eat it 😂

xogossipgirlxo · 17/11/2022 16:19

AntlerRose · 17/11/2022 16:02

Yes, your whole daily calorie intake in ine meal. One hour later, starving.

So disappointing, isn't it 😤You're getting ready for feast, and it feels like light lunch.

Dentistlakes · 17/11/2022 16:21

I love McD’s but I’m always hungry again about an hour after I’ve eaten. Tbf, I’m the same with all fast food, be it Chinese or Indian takeaway or other burger type places.

Fingeronthebutton · 17/11/2022 16:26

It’s all down to MSG. The same additive that’s in Indian/Chinese food.
