The weird stuff about Mcd’s

Anyone else think it’s just odd food at McDonald’s?
It tastes so bloody good…like magic good…what is in the mayo type sauce etc 🤷🏻‍♀️
But…why does it fill you up, then an hour later you’re hungry again etc?
For example, Burger King is good also, but it proper fills me up and feels like proper food, Mcds doesn’t but it tastes so good 😫

@SlashBeef Yes, it’s more like that, sort of an immediate filling up, but then..hungry again 🤷🏻‍♀️

Brave of you to admit to feeling hunger on mumsnet.

Admitting to hunger, having a McDonald's and then feeling hunger AGAIN.

Just waiting for someone to say they couldn't at for the whole of the next day if they ate McDonalds 😂

NotQuiteUsual · 17/11/2022 13:55

McDonald's gives me the shits. Still eat it and love it.

Yep, we call it a McShite

KatherineJaneway · 17/11/2022 14:38

I do love their bacon and egg McMuffin breakfast and their Fillet O Fish. I want some now ...

Crimboisonitsway · 17/11/2022 14:39

@RebulahConundrum @Planesmistakenforstars 🤣🤣🤣

Even the coke tastes different 🤷🏻‍♀️Just really good, I know it’s absolute crap, but if it wasn’t bad for you, I’d probably eat it a lot 😬

I only discovered this week that when you use the McD app you can tweak everything to your liking. Eg, extra sauce, gherkins and onions on my Big Mac .... i'm probably late to the party with this, as usual Grin.

CookPassBabtridge · 17/11/2022 14:45

Now I want a cheeseburger 😤

AbitOfNew · 17/11/2022 14:45

SlashBeef · 17/11/2022 14:33

I always feel uncomfortably stuffed and then ravenous an hour later.

Me too

OkPedro · 17/11/2022 14:46

I'm laughing so much at the hungry AND McDonalds AND hungry again 🤣

The "giving your children McDonald's is child abuse" people will be along soon!

Crimboisonitsway · 17/11/2022 14:53

@OkPedro 😅🤷🏻‍♀️I must just be a massive pig 🙈

I love a MaccyD and I'm a scratch cook for pretty much every other meal.

There was a really good thread on Ultra-processed foods and what they do to you a while back. The key is that they are designed to hit your "bliss point", so you want more and are soft, so can eat more.

Interestingly, for me as nutrition is personal, I had a double-sausage muffin whilst wearing a glucose monitor and it didn't spike whereas bananas and oats do. I'm still going to cook almost all my food but I've had a real good think about how, when and what I eat.

DrManhattan · 17/11/2022 14:57

I don't like it. Even the smell of the place when I go in makes me feel a bit sick. Probably reminds me of hangovers

Probablymagrat · 17/11/2022 15:00

I tried a MCPlant meal the other day, had it with an orange juice because the milkshake maker was broken, and I was stuffed for ages. I wonder if the plant proteins take longer to digest. I really liked it and will now be my standard order.

healthadvice123 · 17/11/2022 15:00

@Pinkbonbon I think we are all aware we are eating a cow we aren't stupid and obviously not vegetarian through choice , you know something we all have

healthadvice123 · 17/11/2022 15:02

Also this is mumsnet surely after licking a chip and smelling a burger your full for a week

Simonjt · 17/11/2022 15:02

I’m a vegetarian so I can’t eat much there, but I do really like the new mini potato waffles, I had nine for breakfast this morning, they’re yummy and so so much nicer than the hashbrowns.

The chips are also top tier.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/11/2022 15:03

I can eat it on the hour every hour, it never fills me up. I avoid it generally, once or twice a year I'll indulge in chicken sandwich.

SilverCatStripes · 17/11/2022 15:07

McDonalds? 3 fries and half a burger fills me up for a whole week. Anything more than that is sheer greed.

LikeTearsInRain · 17/11/2022 15:08

It’s full of low quality carbs that have a high GI (potato fries, processed white bread bun, sugars in sauces). Shortly after eating they spike your blood sugar and make you produce insulin. A side effect of the insulin is to make you feel hungry again.

Best avoided.

It's high in sugar so spikes your blood sugar. Anything that spikes your blood sugar then leads to a crash about an hour or so later. You're not "hungry" again per say, you're just having a massive blood sugar crash after such a sugar high, which feels like hunger.

It's partly why fast food causes so many people to gain weight - they then crave another high sugar snack to raise blood sugar, it crashes again an hour later, etc etc

Certain foods release energy slowly, so won't make you feel hungry after eating them and will keep you full up all day.

SlashBeef · 17/11/2022 15:09

Don't. They'll be calling 101 if anyone admits to giving it to their kids.

Scurryfunge12 · 17/11/2022 15:11

Spot the vegans 🤣
