What Christmas decor do you hate?

Following on from a thread about interior design hates, I thought I'd do a festive version.
I'll start

I do not like:

Pop up trees

Blue lights - flashing or not

Inflatables

Rope light figures

Fibre optics

Projectors on houses.

What are yours?

Noma still make them 😊
Amazon have them I think. Or you can buy vintage on Ebay.

The lanterns were lovely

Another vote against harsh blue lights. I don't mind the very pale ice blue ones.

I'm also not keen on those hot chocolate stations that have become popular in the last couple of years. There's something a bit gimmicky and instagrammy about them.

Otherwise I have no issues AS LONG AS THEY'RE NOT PUT UP TIL DECEMBER.

Pifco did these. The most popular ones were called London Lights but they had other styles. Try Ebay

These ones had a little bit of everything! I'd love a set like this.

The problem is, even if you get the lights, you can't get replacement filament bulbs.

This thread has just inspired me to buy multicoloured lights for the tree this year. I don’t care if it looks crap. I want to recreate my childhood Christmas for my DC!

I came on to say that I love the smell of tinsel too, so nostalgic.

This was my first images result when I searched for "classic red and gold Christmas tree" the other day.

What the heck is that bird of paradise tropical rainforest topper?! Why is the whole thing exploding with ribbons?! And this was the most tasteful of its kind that I could find, this clearly was a trend at some point and some are so covered in ribbons you literally can't see a single branch!

To answer your question OP: this. This is the Christmas decor that I hate. Stars or angels only please 😁

Love everything else, the gaudier the better. I especially love strings of mismatched outdoor lights where you get one string flashing and the rest not.

Black Christmas trees
Pink Christmas trees
Wreaths on front doors -sorry i link them with funerals

I worked with a woman who drove me potty with the 'Elf on a shelf' nonsense. I'm convinced many people do it for their own entertainment-nothing to do with their children.

Tacky big bows on front doors. Within a couple of days of rain they look like a dirty pair of drawers stuck on the door-awful!
A couple of houses around here have them on all year round 🤢

My sister's dog ate the lametta from her tree, had to be put down poor thing.

In our house snitches get stitches.

I don't like inflatable decorations as they just lay about deflated on peoples lawns all day long. Just massive puddles of fabric 50% of the time.

I do love all that scandi twee twig-shit though

I love pretty much most things that have been mentioned! Gonks, tinsel, musical toys that dance. Honestly, my front room looks like Santa threw up in it most years 😆

The one thing I will never have though is a bloody door bow.

Those creepy traditional european nutcracker ornaments.
