Please tell me that I don't have a thief? I've been assigned a carer for a couple of weeks while I'm undergoing tests. I've noticed a knife and a fork is now missing (they come from an expensive set).

Am I going utterly insane or would somebody actually steel a knife and fork?

Well the goblins sure as hell didn't!

I think it can really cause anxiety having to open your house to people - you feel in a vulnerable place.

However, if your carer was going to steal from you, I doubt they’d steal cutlery. Most people wouldn’t even know what type of cutlery was valuable. I think what’s far more likely is that one of the carers, not knowing the house very well, has tidied them away to somewhere they don’t belong. That, or they’ve accidentally been thrown away. I once threw a fork away with a pot noodle, DH noticed and told me!

Well of course the goblins didn't - they only steal babies to take back to goblin city for the goblin king. I thought that was common knowledge.

She didn't do any washing-up though, so she wouldn't have accidentally put them anywhere. When she arrived this morning, I had to take a shower so she was entirely alone here for 20 minutes.

Did you clear up yourself after eating, or did she?
Had you used the cutlery today, or was it sat in the drawer?
Have you checked the bin Incase you threw them away?
Have you checked the dishwasher, other drawers, cupboards, etc?

What's the point of this thread. You have made up your mind it's the carer and are not listening to anything anyone else has to say because they are not agreeing with you.

Where will it end? Clutches pearls dramatically! Knife and fork today, spoon tomorrow, sleep with one eye open...

No. I have searched high and low. No forks or knives in unusual places.
