AWFUL NAMES TO CALL YOU CHILD...

I dont think there's anything people get more worked up over something that is none of their business than what someone has or wants to call their child.
With this in mind, I thought it might be fun for people to nominate some really bad names they've heard friends or relatives have given to these poor little children.... Whats the worst you've ever heard?
Who knows... this page might be inspiration for some pregnant ladies out there!
Have fun!

My partner gave one of his sons Eskimo as a middle name... and he wanted to call dd Elvis Bunnyboots. He still moans to this day he lacked the courge of his convictions and caved in to the overwhelming pressure from everyone else in his family.

I once knew a Chinese guy called (and I may be misspelling this) Chiu Chew - pronounced Choo Choo. As is the way with many Chinese he had an anglicised name too - Thomas!

Kaishay - I know some Bytheway's too.

LyraSilvertongue · 29/01/2008 23:30

Kaishay, are you joking? Itch Iyasi? Really?

cali · 30/01/2008 00:37

branflake81 · 30/01/2008 07:06

I knew someone once called Mahatma Coat.

milkyJammy · 30/01/2008 07:24

My kids are fans of American TV shows, and on one of them there's a girl called London. Initially I thought "what???" but it's grown on me!! I was watching American Idol on Friday night and there was a pretty blonde girl on there called London and Simon Cowell said to her upon hearing her name "what a fantastic name." I quite like it now.

MummyPenguin · 30/01/2008 09:49

My sister once worked with a woman whose surname was Scora. She and her DH had a DD and called her Flora. My Mum went to school with the Gotobed twins.

geekgirl · 30/01/2008 09:54

my dc go to school with children called Regime, Bear and Orion. (all from the US base next door, no surprise there!)

Ds attends nursery at the local ponceyprep, and his classmates feature Monty and Antigone.

snowleopard · 30/01/2008 10:29

Mmmm I really like "Bear". (Maybe not regime so much...)

3andnomore · 30/01/2008 10:32

Really trying to work out what Dumbledores lil ones name is...btw...I suppose my sons all have chavvy names, ebcause we are obviously trying to hard

rofl at teh abishag/avishag thing...especially when it means fathers delight...shudder...

Slubber...if ms would have been a girl we originally had lined up Melina for him...but once someone made a comment about melena...well, put me off for sure

hm mio..but John and Sean, whilst may mean teh same...are not really the same name... now John and Jonathan, that might be a different story, lol....

Shelly and musty...anal...now that would be a horrible name for a little girl, and should be forbidden to be put in any namebook...just imagine...a girl called Anal Retention or worse...lol...

Desi, lol at Fanny Pong....

Also, can someone enlighten me what teh Titus thing is, people are on about? Whilst not a name of my choice....but...

Kaishay...I assume Herr Wanke is German...wanken in germany means swaying....

geek, dh wanted to call ms Orion...but it never grew on me much, lol....

It's funny really, in so many name threads people come out with oh, that is so chavvy...whenever they hear more unusual names, generally from other cultures...such ignorance...what always makes me laugh is I know a lot of real live chavs, that have names like James,Harry, Henry,Andrew, Paul, Caroline, Elisabeth and know lots of lovely little Kids called things like Kaden,Mason, Logan, Rio, McKenzie, Maddison, McCauly(sp?)...etc...a name is, luckily not everything...and doesn't reflect at all on what kind of parents/childhood, life someone has...

Blu · 30/01/2008 10:56

3andnomore - I believe that people of a juvenile disposition might pronounce Titus as TightArse

3andnomore · 30/01/2008 11:04

argh.....would have never occured to me, lol...I would pronounce it Teetoos or Tyetoos though, lol....

gladders · 30/01/2008 11:25

Justine888 · 30/01/2008 12:26

Sunshinemummy · 30/01/2008 13:54

DS has an unusual middle name which means a lot to us for a number of reasons. It goes down really badly in the US though and it was slagged off right royally on a US name website after his birth announcement in The Times.
