Adults only weddings - Yay or Nay

I am not very familiar with the concept - it only happened once to be invited in such a wedding and I have also heard of another.

But how is it possible to invite adults only? I mean if parents go to the wedding then who is supposed to look after toddlers, babies etc. ?

Is it a way to say to people “we invite you but please don’t come?”

We have no family/support around and this invite sounds a bit weird and discriminatory … If you want someone to share the joy and happiness with you then you must welcome his other half and, of course, children under 18 years old! Where are they supposed to stay while their parents celebrate with you?

Hate child free - went to one and it was a drinking fest. I couldn't go with my husband since he looked after children. Others couldn't go. I thought weddings meant family?

Yep their family (bride and groom), not your family. Unless you’re the ones getting married, then by all means invite your children.

But why stop with just your children? Surely they should invite your parents, dog, cat, gerbil. It’s all about faaaammmiiilly.

Let’s be real, not one person saying “it’s about family” means the family of the bride and groom, or indeed anyone else’s kids. What they mean is “it’s about my kids”. Height of narcissism.

This!
No kid loves a wedding. It is dull for them (and most adults).

Only in here would a thread about weddings have discussion about murdering babies and children.

Exactly. Why should the couple have to centre other people’s kids at their wedding, especially if they don’t have children of their own?

I think you must have dull friends, I love a wedding and so do my children (the few they’ve attended), being fussed over all day by family, tasty food, hanging out with their cousins, they loved it. A different experience for us as parents though

Loved the idea when we had no kids. Caused massive issues when a family wedding took place and we had kids with no childcare options outside those invited to the wedding.

Have I been reading a different thread?

The OP said she’d never leave her children with a babysitter because of all the terrible people in the world inc rapists and murderers
