I'm going round in circles.

People with tidy dressing tables are sociopaths. Everyone knows this.

GreenTea70 · 06/11/2022 20:33

Don’t have the room for a proper dressing table so use top of my tall chest of drawers

Love mine! It’s from LASKASAS. Lots of storage.
You can choose the finishes or the wood and metal. It’s a d’Arc.

What?!! I'm another one who had no idea that people had dressing tables.

What do you actually do with it? And if it really is a dedicated space where you sit down and put your make up on, do you do that every day? How does it not end up covered in random crap?

JMAngel1 · 06/11/2022 20:39

@afrikat
We have a winner! That is gorgeous.

dudsville · 06/11/2022 20:43

I love the idea of a dressing table and always thought I'd get one when i grew up. My eye sight is so bad though that i need to stand right next to the mirror to put on make up, and that only takes me 5 min, so although it's paid for a beautiful mid century table i never collected it, deciding it was impractical. Make up is in the bathroom (i have my own). For my hair i have a deep set window in the dressing room so I put a mirror in that and bought an old dressing table seat. It's perfect.

MrsThimbles · 06/11/2022 20:44

I have two Op. One my bedroom that was made to match my bedroom furniture and one in my dressing area that was made to match the furniture in there.

MY bedroom one holds my make up and perfume along with a few items I treasure on the the actual table top bit. But it also has 3 nice sized drawers for bits and pieces. It’s high gloss with burnished silver ironmongery and there’s a nice matching mirror on the wall above it.

The one in my dressing area is solid oak and was made to match my wardrobes. My jewelry sits on top of it in various caddies but I also keep my Mac there and it doubles as a desk top.

MochaHoldTheMilkAndCoffee · 06/11/2022 20:44

Also have the Ikea Hemnes dressing table. I love it, in my mid thirties.
I spent my teens to late 20's doing my hair and make up on the edge of my bed/on the floor in front of a tall mirror.
I finally felt like a proper 'grown up' when I got my dressing table.

Mushroo · 06/11/2022 20:45

@afrikat i use it everyday for make up and doing my hair. I don’t know why it would get covered in crap? Where do you get ready? Do you get your make up out, take it somewhere and then put it away everyday?

its like we’ve stumbled across a parallel universe scenario. I honestly thought everyone had one!!

Sorry this should be have been @missymousey

MrsThimbles · 06/11/2022 20:48

Sorry Op, I can’t post pictures as the furniture was all custom made and anyone here who knows me would recognize it instantly.

Apartridgeinachestnuttree · 06/11/2022 20:49

SilencioBruno · 06/11/2022 20:10

This is mine. I love it because it’s pretty small. We have quite a lot of storage in our room so baskets for appliances etc in nearby cupboards.

@SilencioBruno I am in love! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for and can’t find!

Pseudonymminymie · 06/11/2022 20:49

Ha, mine is the dining table, with my little make up bag. Full sun so shows up any stray hairs to be tweezered! But omg, DH would have a fit if I had a fully devoted area as a ' dressing table ' 😁 Probably should ltb😀

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 06/11/2022 20:51

i have a dressing table but it's covered in a teasmade, and books.

AllHunsBlazing · 06/11/2022 20:52

Mine is oak, John Lewis. Very much like this.

www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-essence-dressing-table-oak/p231538002

Slightly more substantial legs, and 2 fairly deep drawers on each side. They don’t make it anymore but this is the replacement version. I’ve had it 20+ years (I’m 35) and it’s supper quality.

PeaceLily2000 · 06/11/2022 20:52

I do my makeup in the bathroom as the lighting is better and I like to be close to the mirror but I have an ikea micke desk for doing my hair. It has a large drawer for hair products and accessories and hot tools go in a basket underneath

QuietYou · 06/11/2022 20:52

Yes just turned 90
👏 👏 👏 this made me laugh, a lot!

I won't show my dressing table because it's too small to be of use and as such is covered in DC's too small clothes and odd socks 🙄

Enko · 06/11/2022 20:52

Mine is from the futon company Madrid Dressing Table
I have Oak Dressing mirror on top and Orbit swivel chair for it I love futon company :)

Cuppa2sugars · 06/11/2022 20:54

Why would it end up covered in crap? It's covered in makeup Grin and yes, every time I put makeup on I use it

Paradisehunter · 06/11/2022 20:55

Hera222 · 06/11/2022 19:50

I prefer to do my make up with a hand held mirror just sat on my bed! But I did create one for my Mum for when she comes to stay with us. It’s just a desk from Swoon with a glass Sophie Conran mirror that I found on eBay. She keeps all her bits and pieces in the blue IKEA boxes on the shelves. I work from home so sometimes if I fancy a change from the kitchen table I’ll take the mirror off, pop it in the wardrobe and use it as an actual desk for a few days.

Love this, it’s the perfect size.
I currently do my make up in the kitchen at the oven door, a dressing table would be a dream come true

daisychain01 · 06/11/2022 20:56

Mine is wooden so I guess that makes me 105 then Grin. And I think someone one here said that people who have a tidy dressing table are sociopaths so I'm one of them as well. Can't stand a cluttered work surface!

We found it in a small furniture shop that was having a closing down sale about 10 years ago, so I got this dressing table and a low level bookcase all for £250.

It sits under the window so the natural day light is really good in the morning, which is helpful for putting on make up.

unfortunately the photo is taken in artificial light which doesn't do it justice.
