I'm looking for a new more modern dressing table as mine is over 30 yrs old and quite large and dark.
I'm going round in circles.
Anyone bought one recently and where from

@custacustardcreme77 thanks for the tip about the cocktail chair - I really need to replace the stool and those chairs look perfect!

Binkybix · 08/11/2022 09:01

I’ve never had one because they tend to look a bit scruffy to me with all the stuff out. Defo would end up like that for me anyway.

Love the Oliver Bonas one though. I don’t blow dry hair, put skin stuff on in bed (in bed side drawer - 2 small things) and stand in front of mirror to do make up. I don’t have or wear much make up though. If I did, I can see the appeal.

Here is mine..sorry pics from my Instagram ignore the writing on it.

Its ikea table and mirror. I've used old perfume gift boxes as containers in the draw. Plus empty earbud boxes are really good size to use.

As this is a spare room, the whole room is basically a dressing room with all my clothes in it and where I get ready everyday. Its luxury for me as I dont have kids yet so im enjoying it whilst I can

@Habreathmint yours is my favourite on here. 😍

VenusClapTrap · 08/11/2022 10:52

This is mine. It’s an antique shaving stand. There are two hinged compartments; I keep makeup in one side and hair things in the other (creams/lotions live in the bathroom).

A little small really but I’m not hugely into grooming so it’s adequate for my requirements.

I like antique furniture because it’s more solidly built than most modern stuff, and doesn’t date. It’s also good value because it’s fairly unfashionable at the moment - I picked this up in a flea market/scruffy antiques centre type place several years ago, together with a big mahogany wardrobe and a couple of chests of drawers, all for less than you’d pay for the Ikea equivalents.

Also look at "desks" when you are searching. I have one made of white glass with mirror attached at the back. I stuck a hook on the back and hang my hairdryer on it so it is always plugged in and ready to use. The socket is not so easy to reach as it's behind the dressing table.

This is mine. I love it because it’s pretty small. We have quite a lot of storage in our room so baskets for appliances etc in nearby cupboards.

Ohh can you attach a link to here to get this one pls? Thanks!

Ikea is the best!

LoisLane66 · 09/11/2022 12:22

@Hereforthelaugh
That file photo shows a console table being used as a dressing table. It's not marketed as a dressing table. Dressing tables have drawers and a mirror standing on top as part of the table, often a triple mirror.

Me!!

Where I live we’re not allowed to have electrical sockets in the bathroom so I can’t dry my hair in there.

Make up wise - I need the best possible light I can find as well as a mirror very good magnification so the bathroom wouldn’t work.

Hereforthelaugh · 09/11/2022 15:10

It’s the IKEA dressing table and is marketed as such. It has a drawer. IKEA dressing table

Izzabellasasperella · 09/11/2022 21:22

This is mine. It's from Dunelm Mill. I love it although I far too much costume jewellery on it😀

I haven't got one at the moment, but I'm moving soon and it's on the list of things I'm getting!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 10/11/2022 11:53

I posted a link to mine upthread but here’s an actual pic. I love the fact that it has 8 drawers, so everything can be stashed away. And one of the drawers is designed for jewellery.
Like PPs, I find the mirror too far away for putting on makeup - really need a good light-up mirror as well.

Mine's a bit of an antique. Not my choice and I'd love to change it!
