One of my direct reports is on onlyfans

I am so conflicted about what to do about this but one of the people I manage (a girl in her early 20s) does onlyfans and has a public p0rn Twitter account. Another colleague told me that they found her TikTok through her phone number, and the TikTok links to the Twitter page with the explicit videos, and that links to the onlyfans. The Twitter isn’t even under a pseudonym, it’s her nickname that she uses at work!

The issue isn’t that she has onlyfans as much as the fact that she is using her real life nickname and there are videos of her on a public Twitter account using various toys on herself with her face clearly visible! She has also posted a photo of her hand where she is clearly at her work desk at our office, asking her ‘fans’ to pay for her nails.

AIBU to even think about taking this higher up? My gut instinct was to say nothing and not get involved but if she is this blasé about it then a client might find out. We work in a field where public image matters and staff photos are on the website.

what the hell do you think HR are going to do?

what HR always do, protect the company...

fedstool · 07/11/2022 04:52

Keep your beak out. It’s nothing to do with you.

you missed the bit where it was reported to the OP then... JFC, do any of the people posting this rubbish currently work?

fedstool · 07/11/2022 04:54

I can only assume that the people accusing the colleague of being a stalker don’t actually have social media.

Or jobs 😆

fedstool · 07/11/2022 05:02

I know we’re all supposed to be sex work-positive nowadays but do people honestly think it’s 100% acceptable to have a public twitter account with videos of you using sex toys under the same name you for work, when you’re in a professional client-facing role and you have a headshot on the website? Really?

course they don't, they just like to be contrary. Although I guess a % are thick.

fedstool · 07/11/2022 05:05

Don't worry though, clearly you are another of those 'fired on the spot' (btw, not a thing in the UK) people who absolutely no knowledge of employment law

isn't this what Elon Musk did recently? And P&O?

fedstool · 07/11/2022 05:11

I can. It's AIBU. You could post "my neighbour is developing chemical weapons in his basement" on here and be told "keep your nose out".

AIBU rules
If its something really trivial, like a neighbour has not been seen for a day or two. Then you shouldn't myob but go down a rabbit hole because clearly the absent neighbour has been abused by her partner, has now been abducted & is facing death so call the police or better yet break in & save them yourself.

If you know your neighbour is committing a crime then you must myob & not waste police time as the neighbour must have a very good reason for being forced into this situation & you are spiteful.

Yes they did, and it was illegal. P&O ended up having to pay out an awful lot of money, but they deemed it to be worth it because they would make that back by paying a pittance and reducing standards in future.

ProfessorSlocombe · 07/11/2022 07:50

HMRC don't get involved in taxing sex work as it would come under gaining from immoral earnings. I

A prostitute has to pay tax on their earnings.. Long since decided in law.

This was confirmed by CIR v Aken [1990] 63TC395.

fedstool · 07/11/2022 08:50

@WaddleAway I know it's illegal & obviously morally reprehensible but I was replying to the post that said it can't happen.

I assume they meant ‘can’t legally be done’.

fedstool · 07/11/2022 09:01

I wasn't convinced because it certainly is a thing, legal or not!

WaddleAway · 07/11/2022 09:09

Yeah, people do all sorts of things that are illegal, sadly.

NameChangeForARaisin · 07/11/2022 09:31

OP, as a manager, You have to do the right thing. The right thing is to seek advice from HR.
If you do nothing and your colleague reports to HR, then you will have to explain your inaction to them.
If you do the right thing from the beginning then you have no case against you.

Calandor · 07/11/2022 10:01

@Snoozer11 TikTok throws up profiles of people you have in your phone contacts. They didn't need to search it would've been suggested to them

Sorrelatchristmas · 07/11/2022 10:11

She shouldn’t be doing anything on her private accounts during work time really, but how many of us make personal phone calls and do online shopping at work?

crunchermuncher · 07/11/2022 10:19

Can you really not see the difference between many the odd personal call, and having a porny side hustle using your own name and head shots, when you also have your pic on the company website?

I feel like I'm in some kind of parallel universe. Have you never had a job, and never so much as glanced at your contract of employment?

HeraldicBlazoning · 07/11/2022 10:25

SirenSays · 05/11/2022 19:06

Mind your business, it's a photo of her hand ffs.

Yeah... you don't understand what's going on, do you? This person has a side business of porn. The OP says it's fairly graphic and she is using a name everyone knows her by.

Her "fans" need constant content to keep them hooked in. She is posting pictures of her hand and asking for money to get nails done, and will later "reward" the people who contribute towards having them done by posting altogether more explicit pictures later.

Of course a hand picture isn't an issue. The issue is that she is working her side hustle when she should be working her proper job. And most companies will have clauses about not bringing your employer into disrepute.

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 07/11/2022 10:27

Mind your own business and get on with you are paid to do which is not busybody-ing into her affairs

PoundShopPrincess · 07/11/2022 10:36

I'm starting to see why younger generations are struggling in the workplace. So many of them obviously don't have a clue about employment contracts, managerial responsibilities, etc.

SaveMeFromMyBoobs · 07/11/2022 11:04

Lots of people are on social media during work hours while on lunch/break/making a drink etc. If she hadn't been on OF, and instead she posted a picture of her feet on holiday on a sun lounger then a picture of her feet under her desk saying she wishes she was back on holiday ... would you have the same problem with it?

If there was anything identifying (e.g. a card with your companies name on because lets face it no one can recognise a work place from a blank desk) and she was posting on an account only used for her side hustles then there is a problem. If its her personal page not linked with OF or whatever then there's nothing wrong with people knowing where she works.

2Late · 07/11/2022 11:27

Why are people going on about bodily fluids on office chairs? Did I miss something?

twinmum2022 · 07/11/2022 11:47

Just leave her alone 🙃

Orangepolentacake · 07/11/2022 11:48

ButteredStrumpetWithJam · 06/11/2022 20:23

This young lady has been very foolish. OK, she can do what she wants with her body, etc, but she would've been wise to have created a totally unrelated name (not use the nickname used at home and work!) and definitely had a seperate phone. In other words, anyone working in the sex industry as a sideline should make it as difficult as possible for their present employer to find them. Lots of employers have "bringing the company into disrepute" and declaring other income in their contracts too, so it's even more important to be discreet.

Exactly this.

OldFan · 07/11/2022 23:47

She probably earns shit money

A lot of people don't have a massive salary but still aren't sex workers.
