One of my direct reports is on onlyfans

I am so conflicted about what to do about this but one of the people I manage (a girl in her early 20s) does onlyfans and has a public p0rn Twitter account. Another colleague told me that they found her TikTok through her phone number, and the TikTok links to the Twitter page with the explicit videos, and that links to the onlyfans. The Twitter isn’t even under a pseudonym, it’s her nickname that she uses at work!

The issue isn’t that she has onlyfans as much as the fact that she is using her real life nickname and there are videos of her on a public Twitter account using various toys on herself with her face clearly visible! She has also posted a photo of her hand where she is clearly at her work desk at our office, asking her ‘fans’ to pay for her nails.

AIBU to even think about taking this higher up? My gut instinct was to say nothing and not get involved but if she is this blasé about it then a client might find out. We work in a field where public image matters and staff photos are on the website.

You sound over invested how do you know she doesn't take photo of her hand during her break or before she starts work and how do you know she doesn't set posts to appear at certain times and days. How do you know what her only fans account consists of unless you pay to go on it. How do you accidentally find porn sites linked to someone's phone number why would someone be searching for that anyway. Why does it matter and why is it any concern of yours whatsoever unless you are police/teacher I don't see how what someone does in their non work time is anything whatsoever to do with you and just sounds like you want to get her into trouble because you don't approve or something mind your own

She’s line management.

Actions will depend on company policy. Employee will know this as it will be part of her contract.

If she has breached the policy, HR will investigate and make a decision. If she hasn’t she will be fine.

None of us can give a complete answer, because we don’t know what the company policy is, but OP as management, you should.

I don't think it's about misogyny, looks, sex or OF in and of themselves.

That this content can be found using her work-related info makes it unprofessional.

She'd be better to rename stuff or make it so it isn't discoverable through a phone no. she uses with colleagues/clients. (If it's just colleagues that have this number, that just makes what she's done a bit naff really.)

If she's doing stuff related to it while at her desk, that shows it's taking up a lot of her headspace during the working day.

MadelineUsher · 05/11/2022 22:47

How does she know? It's in the first paragraph.

Her "TikTok links to the Twitter page with the explicit videos, and that links to the onlyfans. The Twitter isn’t even under a pseudonym, it’s her nickname that she uses at work!"

She is, she’s posting things on the Twitter account during work hours and a photo of her hand where it’s clear she’s sat at her desk

Tweets can be scheduled in advance, which is how most content creators upload stuff to their platforms. You tell it when you want it to go live and it does it automatically, so you can’t be sure she’s physically posting it during work time.

Stephy1886 · 05/11/2022 22:59

Can you see anything in her desk pic that would identify the company?
if not, nothing you can do

its her choice if she wants to be identifiable on onlyfans

Donttalkimcounting · 05/11/2022 23:00

Does your work have a confidential line - along the lines of 'report it now' or 'whistleblowing' - basically somewhere, where you can raise something anonymously?

In our company - the complaint gets handled by a team who are trained in this sort of thing. They deal with all sorts, inappropriate social media, office affairs etc.

I agree. Go to HR. Totally unacceptable using a picture taken at work ffs.

Agree

You are so naive. It's a magnet for would be stalkers and blackmailers.

MadelineUsher · 05/11/2022 23:17

its her choice if she wants to be identifiable on onlyfans

Also her choice to be soon-to-be unemployed.

Jenasaurus · 05/11/2022 23:18

A similar situation arose with a male youth worker being discovered in a dog collar on meat spin, how they found him I don't know, but he did face repercussions from what I remember. There are some jobs, like teaching etc where this behaviour is frowned upon.

emptythelitterbox · 05/11/2022 23:19

Mind your own business.
There's always someone looking to drag a woman over the tiniest thing.

Is the colleague that reported her male?

I'd be wondering how he got her private phone number?

EconomyClassRockstar · 05/11/2022 23:22

If you're in a professional role and it's this easy to find your OF account, YES! It's a sackable offense! TikTok literally shares with all your contacts.

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 05/11/2022 23:25

Where I work it’s in our contract that we cannot do anything to bring the company into disrepute, which seems exactly what she is doing. Her name being publicly visible on those sites and her name being visible through work connects the only fans and porn to your company. Would be a sackable offence at my work.
That aside, she’s posting photos in work time, which means she’s effectively doing other work while you are paying her to do your company’s work. Would also be a sackable offence at my work.

FireChild · 05/11/2022 23:29

namechangetheworld · 05/11/2022 18:51

If there's nothing in employment contracts it's something they need to add.

Why though? She isn't breaking the law, and isn't doing this during work time.

I’ve seen three comments saying this but OP literally just said she has an online video of herself doing it in her work office. How do you interpret this as “not doing it during work time?” 😳

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/11/2022 23:58

Is it in your contracts of employment that you need to seek permission if you have a second job? If so, she could be disciplined if she hasn’t done so. You may also have something in your employment contracts about not demonstrating behaviour that may bring the organisation into disrepute (or words to that effect). Either way as her manager you should be speaking with HR about this, and an investigation would normally be carried out. Some organisations may not consider what she is doing an issue, others will (my organisation would!)

Definitely speak to HR.

Even if your work is OK with her personal accounts, I'd be shutting down any use of personal accounts while at work. Totally inappropriate, even if it's just her hand.

She's there to work, not to promote her pages.

Why is she soon to be unemployed exactly?

OldFan · 06/11/2022 00:22

People make a good point about bringing the company into disrepute. That's something a lot of companies would be against in an employee.

MarceyMc · 06/11/2022 00:28

HR here, unless you're in an industry such as public services, teaching, etc., OR it's specifically stated in your contracts that it's prohibited then I'd leave it alone. Yes you could pull her in and give her the rap for using social media during working hours but honestly, can everyone on here say they've never had a quick scroll whilst at work?

Workplaces do not own their employees lives and whoever reported her sounds extremely petty, it's none of their business (unless there are specific concerns as stated above).

Hollypups · 06/11/2022 00:30

I think we have the same manager 😂

MarceyMc · 06/11/2022 00:31

Also, lot's of 'sackable offence' and 'bringing the company into disrepute' being thrown around here, which is absolutely impossible for anyone to say without knowing the full details.

Topsyturvy78 · 06/11/2022 00:42

Exactly this

fruktsoda · 06/11/2022 00:47

I'd take it to HR and let them decide, of tell your colleague to report it to HR. It's their job to sort out these things, and now that this has been brought to your attention, it would be best to advise them of it and let them make the call.

I have limited sympathy for the OF employee. She needs to keep these aspects of her life completely separate, for her own good. Many employers won't like this sort of thing being associated with their company name.

Ugzbugz · 06/11/2022 00:59

She probably earns shit money and the phrase direct report is gross
