One of my direct reports is on onlyfans

I am so conflicted about what to do about this but one of the people I manage (a girl in her early 20s) does onlyfans and has a public p0rn Twitter account. Another colleague told me that they found her TikTok through her phone number, and the TikTok links to the Twitter page with the explicit videos, and that links to the onlyfans. The Twitter isn’t even under a pseudonym, it’s her nickname that she uses at work!

The issue isn’t that she has onlyfans as much as the fact that she is using her real life nickname and there are videos of her on a public Twitter account using various toys on herself with her face clearly visible! She has also posted a photo of her hand where she is clearly at her work desk at our office, asking her ‘fans’ to pay for her nails.

AIBU to even think about taking this higher up? My gut instinct was to say nothing and not get involved but if she is this blasé about it then a client might find out. We work in a field where public image matters and staff photos are on the website.

Report to HR and leave it with them. If it blows up in her face and they found out you knew and said nothing effectively covered it up, you could also be dragged into it.

Do the right thing let HR know, even if its an anonymous external email and leave them to decide.

Suzi888 · 05/11/2022 19:51

@Sparklesocks yes they have posted the thread before. Advice was a unanimous snout out!

Breziegrass · 05/11/2022 19:53

It's not your job to snitch
Oh grow up this is play ground talk, she is an adult and so should have professionalism to face the consequences of her actions. "Snitch" FGS! 🙄

IntentionalError · 05/11/2022 19:58

I have no issue with women earning money on OF, so I would keep my nose out of this and mind my own business. After I had had a good look at her pictures, obv… 😉

EBearhug · 05/11/2022 20:02

If someone reported this to me I would have a conversation with the employee about secondary employment- out contracts forbid second jobs without express permission and about the potential to bring the company into disrepute recommending she use a 'stage name' and limits face shots to behind a paywall (clients won't admit to being pervs).

This.

It's been reported to you, rather than something you came across in passing.

She's been doing it on work premises, thus in work time.

She's doing it her her own name - I don't know if she has a LinkedIn profile, but either way, it can probably link to your company.

I'd check company social media and second job policies and then have a chat with her. Our company is quite hot on anything which could bring them into disrepute, and would probably be particularly unhappy with the combination of her own name and taking photos on work premises, even if only of her hand.

andreee · 05/11/2022 18:56

She is, she’s posting things on the Twitter account during work hours and a photo of her hand where it’s clear she’s sat at her desk

This would be gross misconduct where I work and she wold be rightly fired.

Sallyh87 · 05/11/2022 20:08

Is she doing anything wrong?

  • shes isn’t bringing the company into disrepute
  • she isn’t forbidden from having a second job contractually
  • she is using her personal device not her work one

while posting pictures while in work isn’t great, I would imagine lots staff use their phones and social media while at their desks. Assuming there is no clause in her contract preventing outside work, then her activities or morality aren’t really your business.

The staff member who searched for her sounds malicious, why would you possibly googling her personal number.

Mirabai · 05/11/2022 20:13

Of course you have to report it OP. It’s a no brainer.

plasticmoses · 05/11/2022 20:18

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 05/11/2022 18:40

Your colleague sounds like a stalker.

They found her TikTok through her (I assume) private phone number which led to Twitter which led to OnlyFans?

I get anxious with that many windows open.

This is not how it works with TikTok - when you connect your phone number to your account it shows all the people you have in your address book. When it first did it to my account I checked out a couple of my colleagues TikTok profiles! So quite possible to find someone's TikTok without actively hunting it down

KnickerlessParsons · 05/11/2022 20:18

This would be a sackable offence where I work (building society)

TheGuv1982 · 05/11/2022 20:22

What’s the HR policy. Because it’s either going to be an HR issue, or a quiet word to be more discreet.

Macaroni1924 · 05/11/2022 20:24

Any clients who find it will probably be too embarrassed to say because then everyone knows what kind of shit they look at online. However someone I worked with posted a few inappropriate comments online and after a falling out with a friend they sent them to the newspapers. Front page news and she ended up sacked.

QuitMoaning · 05/11/2022 20:25

We had someone publicising her pole dancing techniques (whilst wearing skimpy provocative underwear, not as a fitness thing, definitely sexual) whilst stating in the accompanying text:
by day I am an account handler at ABC Bank, Head office, 1 High Street, London but by day I am sexy minx.
(words to that effect)

She was fired.

Hillary17 · 05/11/2022 20:25

None of your business. You’ve got zero proof she’s doing this in work time; photo could be taken in her break and posted later that night. Why do you even care? If anything it suggests she’s not earning enough working for you!

WoolyMammoth55 · 05/11/2022 20:30

Ekátn · 05/11/2022 19:10

The problem here is that an employee has reported it to you.

So if you ignore it and it is against policy, when it all comes out later it could back fire on you if you knew and didn’t do anything.

I can imagine as she uses her own name or a name she is widely known by, it could be linked to your employer quite easily.

Yes, regardless of what we think about side hustles, the OP can't do nothing now that there's been a notification to her from a colleague.

I think you will have to report it to HR, just to cover your back OP. What they do with it is up to them but if you keep it quiet then your neck is on the line if senior management find out that you knew and said nothing.

SofiaSoFar · 05/11/2022 20:33

If you're going to try to get her fired for taking a photo of her hand in work time, I hope you, and any other colleagues you do like are squeaky clean yourselves.

I.e. no private calls, texts, SM posts or online shopping at any time during the work day, etc.

Have you posted this before? I’m sure I read a similar post recently.

Yes there was a very similar post (similar language as well as situation) - the thread didn’t go the way that OP expected or wanted …

antelopevalley · 05/11/2022 21:04

Unbearablebare · 05/11/2022 19:48

The big question is where exactly was her hand when the photo was taken...

Seriously, go to HR, I don't understand how people can get to a position where they line manage others and still think it's acceptable to ask Mumsnet for HR advice rather than follow their own internal policies and procedures, or talk to their own HR Team.

I totally agree with this.

ManefesationofConciousness · 05/11/2022 21:18

why dont you ask fro advice on reddit?
more suitable than mumsnet (oh wait-you already have)

RFPO77 · 05/11/2022 21:22

What your work colleagues do in their own time isn't your business Tbh. She's not breaking any laws, unlike you and your stalkery pal Tbh 🙄 what the hell do you think HR are going to do?

HikingforScenery · 05/11/2022 21:26

You’ve to seek advice from HR.

Sack her for gross misconduct probably.

Speedweed · 05/11/2022 21:30

You go to HR, and let them know because HR are there to protect the company, and if it's against some policy or another, you don't want it coming out further down the line that you knew in case it impacts how management view you and your career. But you go to HR on a 'not sure if it's relevant, but just letting you know this has come to my attention', rather than 'omg, what shall we do about controlling her'.

Then you do nothing - up to her what she does out of work.

Is she entitled to a coffee/lunch break?

Using her phone at work may be an issue you can follow up on. Using something she does with her own body in her own free time. Mind your business.

I find it interesting you haven't touched on whether or not she is competent at her job? Sad that in todays world women are still pulling each other down over looks/sex etc.
