AIBU to think this is not tat

Recently purchased this rather gorgeous glass and metal pineapple from our local charity shop. I love it, but DH thinks it's ugly tat. Obviously he's wrong and has no appreciation for it's beauty. Maybe you lovely MN'ers can settle this argument for me.

The sort of object which baffles me not just that someone had bought it, but that people deliberately designed, manufactured and sold it.

I've seen the same one in Poundland, it's part of the Gemma Collins homeware range.

It's a no from me but I am absolutely living for your enthusiasm for it! I have a relative who has a collection of the most god awful looking thimbles but said relative thinks they're the most beautiful ornaments in the world. The world would be dull if we all liked the same things! 😆

I don't think anything which has been bought from a charity shop, second hand, can be classed as tat. Because it's second hand and already in existence so by buying it, you are not contributing to the piles of plastic stuff by convincing TK Maxx, Home Bargains or wherever that there is demand for this stuff. It's not my thing but if it makes you happy that is all that matters.

I volunteer in a charity shop and on Thursday I priced the ultimate tat. A mechanical white cat, dressed in a santa suit, which moved and played the MC Hammer classic "U Can't Touch This" when you pressed a button. Just WHY??? What goes through someone's head to come up with that?

And OP - you need the facebook group called "charity shop not so shit finds". Lots of people excitedly sharing their charity bargains and the basic rule is to be nice and enthusiastic about what people have bought.
