AIBU to think this is not tat

Recently purchased this rather gorgeous glass and metal pineapple from our local charity shop. I love it, but DH thinks it's ugly tat. Obviously he's wrong and has no appreciation for it's beauty. Maybe you lovely MN'ers can settle this argument for me.

YANBU, it's divine.
YABU, it's tat.

Obviously I know what this answer is 😁...If anyone has one, or knows where it's from I'd be intrigued to know, I'm thinking TKMaxx.

How much did you pay for it?

fuckwhatshouldido · 05/11/2022 11:53

It’s utterly horrendous OP but who cares if you love it 😁

Ontobetterthings · 05/11/2022 11:54

It is dreadful. Throw it out! 🤣🤣

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/11/2022 11:54

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder op! I will sit on the fence with Divine Tat, lol

Oysterbabe · 05/11/2022 11:54

I'd often wondered who buys this kind of shite.

legophoenix · 05/11/2022 11:55

Awful, sorry 😬
Tat

Pebblebeach15 · 05/11/2022 11:55

I love it and would have bought it too.

ShinyS1 · 05/11/2022 11:55

Not sure if this shows it in a better light, but yes, a jar, so functional as well as gorgeous!

I love it!

Needmorelego · 05/11/2022 11:56

Will be a pain to dust 😂
I am also curious if the top comes off so you can fill it full of sweets. If you can then he is not allowed to touch your sweets. Don't like the pineapple - then keep your mitts off 🤣
I wouldn't buy it personally but I am someone whose living room is full of Lego builds, Pop Vinyl Figures and still has the Halloween display up which would cause some mumsnetters to have to reach for the smelling salts.

poorbuthappy · 05/11/2022 11:56

It's wonderful and I would have bought it too. Actually I'm off for a charity shop bimble later so will report back if I get anything as glorious

ElbowsandArses · 05/11/2022 11:57

Ha! I can hardly bring myself to look upon it. Wouldn’t give it house room for 30 seconds. Love that you love it tho. Takes all kinds …

littlepeas · 05/11/2022 11:57

I’ve voted tat, but it could be a lot worse.

40andfit · 05/11/2022 11:57

Tat

SmileyClare · 05/11/2022 11:58

It does look a bit like you could have your eye out if you got up from the sofa too quickly. Shock

Maybe it needs to be more of a feature in a room, if your room featured that same colour blue in other areas and you had it mounted on a shelf or something?

Something like that needs to be the only bold feature in the room.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about interior design and I’ve said the word feature too many times 😂

Pixiedust1234 · 05/11/2022 11:58

Tat, although I did like the shade of blue in the first photo...my eyes were kind of blinded by it 😂

Its a shame its a jar and not a light though. That would have been pretty. Sorry OP!

Breziegrass · 05/11/2022 11:58

Honestly OP pack it up with the dreadful book of Jamie and take them to a charity shop if your lucky they won't dispose of them 😂

bloodyeverlastinghell · 05/11/2022 11:58

I like it but my house is wrong for it.

Fill it with pina colada jelly beans and refuse to share with Dh.

MassiveSalad22 · 05/11/2022 11:59

Do you know what, I’m coming around to it!

Runestone · 05/11/2022 11:59

It's tat, but I like it!

Obia · 05/11/2022 11:59

You could hand tiny Christmas baubles off it, Christmas tree style, for extra tatness 😁

I'm happy that you love it though op.

JuneOsborne · 05/11/2022 12:00

Tat camp.

HarlanPepper · 05/11/2022 12:00

Not for me.

Guavafish1 · 05/11/2022 12:00

No

wackamole · 05/11/2022 12:00

I'd fill it with wrapped hard sweets or something; then it's just a functional item that's not to his tastes rather than something that has no reason to be there and could potentially be packed away or (sorry) binned. Can you compromise by putting it on a side table rather than in the centre of the room? Or in the kitchen/dining room? Or tell him it's an antique...
