Recently purchased this rather gorgeous glass and metal pineapple from our local charity shop. I love it, but DH thinks it's ugly tat. Obviously he's wrong and has no appreciation for it's beauty. Maybe you lovely MN'ers can settle this argument for me.

@ShinyS1 I have to admit - reluctantly - that the pineapple is growing on me. (But then I have a Blue Tit Band "playing" on top of a kitchen cupboard, so I'm clearly bewitched by tat too!)

I'm glad you've all enjoyed the thread, I have too, even though my lovely purchase has been pronounced tat (I obviously disagree!), and I'm even happier that some people have changed their minds and gone from tat to treasure.

I think a thread for tat or treasure (maybe in chat) would be a great idea. Will start one soon if no-one else does.

No, not quite, the base is too big. It lives on the bottom shelf of the bookcase (the Buddha) and is partially shielded by the corner of the sofa so I don't have to see it (much).

I think we need to see the blue tit band, I'm intrigued! I bought a framed blue tit cross stitched picture today, I needs a new mount though.

Yes! I got a blue tit picture, a hanging wall basket, 2 mini gold frames and a mug.

Now that is what I call a blue tit band! Especially loving the accordion player as I used to play that many moons ago. Thumbs up from me 😁

If you like it who cares! we all appreciate the beauty in different things. I have a vintage brandy glass that my friend thinks is vile, due to its texture. I think its fabulously ugly, each to their own.

The pineapple is lovely you just need to change the decor of your living room.

@justiceandtruth...I love this, although she's clearly wrong about it being crap on top! Also love that you were looking at the pineapple at 3.05! Maybe it's alluring beauty stops people from sleeping. I still have no idea where it's from.

@ShinyS1 i have returned faithfully for my 2-3am pineapple worship. I’ll add that the top is my absolute favourite part and is in no way “crap”. I’ll not tell you my friend’s comments on the mystery pottery item.

I have told her that I stand by the pineapple adoration & she has reminded me that I can’t get one - or anything like it as my accident proneness would make it a dangerous act.

If I ever see one though I’m buying it. I’ll just have to put it in a protective case - or cover the spikes in mini tennis balls or summat.

I don't see the pine - appeal... 🤷
