AIBU to think this is not tat

Recently purchased this rather gorgeous glass and metal pineapple from our local charity shop. I love it, but DH thinks it's ugly tat. Obviously he's wrong and has no appreciation for it's beauty. Maybe you lovely MN'ers can settle this argument for me.

Apologies OP. I voted tat but that was based on initial pic. Once I saw the iridescence I started to change my mind and then all lit up I love it.

Oof! What appalling erm, I mean beautiful items for me to feast my eyes on first thing in the morning! Please excuse me, I had to bleach my eyeballs!

Between the hideous Buddha, the revolting elephants leg (why? just why?) and the piece of tat pineapple jar/candlelight holder, I must admit, I would pay an entrance fee to look around your palace @ShinyS1! Oh and not forgetting the quite forgettable silver acorn, which, if I’m honest, is the best of the bunch.

Honestly, if you like it, then that’s all that matters! Would have been much nicer in green to match your decor which looks soft green on my screen, but who cares? Clashing colours are the trend for 2023 and already, you’re a front runner! What an accomplishment!

My suggestion for the quite remarkable gobsmacking Buddha? Use it to hold the bin lid down during the winter. The elephant leg? Erm, maybe use it as a bollard to hold a parking space in the street! The acorn and pineapple should stay though!

Oh and don’t let DH out shopping along and have a safe word such as “putthatpiceoftatdownbeforeikillyou” so that he know what he can and can’t buy 😊

I think it’s fabulous and I am surrounded by tasteful antiques and paintings by well-known artists. Sometimes you need to shake things up a bit. What a great conversation piece! Don’t listen to the naysayers: I’ll take it if you don’t want it!

It is definitely tat, but a bit of tat can be fun! 🤣

Spraying the white bit copper or bronze might slightly improve it

Garden shed? 😮This is one of those kits you get off Amazon, and make yourself. It took bloody weeks and weeks, fiddliest thing I've ever done. Bought it for DS but he gave up in the early days! It's going in the loft because I can't find a proper place for it. I highly recommend it if you've got a free month or so 😁

I started the thread with an absolute YABU. I have now changed my mind and love it, I’m thinking it may be time to embrace the Divine Tat myself😊

I have the study version of that kit to make for my dolls house, so maybe I’m a lot more down the divine tat route than I thought!

Have to say I was pretty excited to see the 15% this morning! I feel vindicated considering it was 90% YABU to start with, now it's only 85%.

I think it's an oil burner, but you put a candle in rather than a tea light. I like rustic looking ceramics, but it does look a bit like a victorian drain pipe. It's not sparking joy like the pineapple i have to say. I might take it back to the charity shop so someone else can love it better.

Now that is hideous. No way does it belong in a house; I suppose it could be used for a candle in the garden.

Put some bright white fairy lights inside - not the ones that look yellowy, but the ice white wire ones. Get some that work on a timer so they come on at the same time each night and stay on for so many hours. The battery pack could sit nicely at the bottom and it can twinkle in the dark.

I love your pineapple! And the only thing that matters is that you love it. And that you don't put an eye out on it.
