AIBU to think this is not tat

Recently purchased this rather gorgeous glass and metal pineapple from our local charity shop. I love it, but DH thinks it's ugly tat. Obviously he's wrong and has no appreciation for it's beauty. Maybe you lovely MN'ers can settle this argument for me.

But then I have a Chinese waving cat, as seen in all the best Chinese restaurants, and I totally love it. (Plus the waving paw is supposed to be "waving in the money" which is sheer nonsense but we have been getting better off since we got him, so who am I to say it's not Money Waving Cat's doing? )

It really is a reminder of William Morris's notion of having nothing in your house that you don't perceive to be beautiful or know that is useful.

I like it. But then I do love a pineapple. They're symbols of friendship and hospitality. It needs fairy lights in it to make the most of its magnificence.

Wow, I'm just blown away by the responses to my pineapple! I thought I'd get 5, maybe 10 at a push! I'm just beyond happy that so many are beginning to see the beauty in the pineapple. It's a gorgeous thing, especially with fairy lights (thanks to all that suggested that).

Although with 4000 odd votes, 86% of them saying YABU, clearly most are still not being lured to the pineapple side. 14% YANBU is up 2% from yesterday, so still a win!

Ooh, it would. My sister's dining room is teal so it would be perfect on her sideboard. She can't have it though, even if she asked for it, which she hasn't.

It would keep me awake too (if it was in my bedroom), because I would worry someone would want to steal it.

I don't think the pineapple could compare with these, well what are they? Plus they look massive, don't think you'd get them through the charity shop door!

I have something in my house that looks vaguely like that tbh, will attach a pic, not sure I even like it myself.

The Buddha is truly hideous, this is true. That's lovely to say about my decor, thanks. I always go for green in almost every room (except kids room) because my thinking is (and I'm sure people will disagree, ha), that green is the colour of the body of most plants, so as long as the item is the same colour as a plants flower, it will work. The pineapple is blue and white, so like an iris. Aware this could be bollocks.

what is it a 70s ice bucket?

I honestly don't know, it's not big enough to be an ice bucket, and the glass is too thin for that I think. My guess is a storage jar, although it looks amazing with fairy lights.
