To think you can only be glamorous if you are slim?

I just can't think of one large or fat person who I would consider classy and glamorous.
I can think of loads of larger women who I would consider very pretty or beautiful but not glamorous.
I am fat by the way so not trying to shake anyone, just sad that I'll never be glam!

I have been very slim and currently two stone over weight and I have to say when I was very slim I always noticed stunning glamorous overweight women and thought they looked incredible.

I looked more glamourous when I was slimmer but that’s because I was more confident and invested in my wardrobe more, now I’m just trying to lose weight WFH in my work out clothes 😂😂. But I could still look glam if I tried.

The point is, glamour isn’t about weight it’s about how someone presents themselves.

Yes of course she is. And if she's shining, everybody's gonna shine.

she's definitely smaller than a size 6, with or without a filter.

It makes it more difficult in my opinion.

One of my best friends has always been plus size in the 25 years I've known her and she is very glamorous. Hair and nails done, expensive make up, nice clothes etc. I'm a size 10 and I scrub up OK but I'm not glamorous compared to her.

Even larger is Chrissy Metz. Beautiful, classy and glam imo

I don't see anything glamorous about Chrissy Metz but I do with Ashley Graham.

It just shows all of this is in the eye of the beholder.

Glamour is largely created by the media and they really don’t like fat women. So you rarely see them given space or promoted as glamorous. Also, lots of designers have refused to dress larger women for things like awards ceremonies, making it harder for them to have that sort of look for the media to showcase.

But there are a few who get past the censorious eyes of the editors - it does seem to be mainly singers, though. I guess they get their own stage ona frequent enough basis for their image to be less reliant on how the press want to portray them.

I think yabu. I'd say it's harder to be glamorous when plus size but not impossible. The issue herein is because people who are thin can generally pull off any look/style without much ado. I don't know but I think the difficulty is in the middle spot where you're not exactly 'fat' but you aren't considered 'thin' either. To dress well in that manner you have to really know your shape and understand style.

Nigella is definitely glamorous.

Marilyn Monroe was just over eight stone at five foot five, with a 24 inch waist. She was smaller than a UK size 6 !

I agree with this and I also think it's easier for younger overweight women to look glamorous because as much as they're overweight, their muscles/skin is still relatively tight.

It's as we age or have babies that the sagging appears and the body shape changes.

I think it’s the opposite! Curves are glamorous.

@ArcticSkewer I think you're spot on with elegance being 'colder'. I am often told I'm elegant (Kate Middleton type physique, and similarly dressed), but am also a bit ice-maiden, and have never been described as glamorous

Queen Latifah would definitely be my immediate image of a glamorous larger woman. Nigella also very glam at all her sizes.

Stop dressing like Kate Middleton if you want to look glamorous! 😱😂

Whereas Adele has never, ever been elegant at any weight. Though she has looked glam on many occasions.
