Mine averages at 50-53 bpm
I have been told this is very low! But Not sure why.
How do you know if its a problem?
I dont have any other health concerns and am pretty active but not excessive or overly at the gym every day kind of person

Normally c.46, am 54, quite fit as I weight tran and run a few times each a week.

Nope333 · 02/11/2022 20:45

Mine fluctuates… if it’s a quiet week and I haven’t indulged in too much food snd alcohol it will be low 60s…. Yesterday after a dominoes, birthday cake and 3 glasses of wine it was 95. Not fit, slightly fat and right now on my sofa its 72. I’m also very anxious in general.

CrunchyCarrot · 02/11/2022 20:45

HR low 60s, has always been. I'm in my mid 60s and very unfit, have hypothyroidism. I also have histamine intolerance which will raise my HR to the mid-high 70s if I am reacting to food I've eaten a few hours earlier. My HR will stay elevated for 20-30 mins.

Hotpotatohotpotato1 · 02/11/2022 20:50

Overweight, early 30s and not gyming atm. It's been averaging around 55. I've been very stressed past few weeks and it's been 60ish. After DS was born they said my heart rate was abnormally low and wouldn't let me out of the dreaded postnatal ward until it increased. My dad and sisters also have low HRs too!

Hottt · 02/11/2022 20:53

Mine is always 40-45 - seems very low to me but no medical professional ever accepts my concern. They just say I must be very fit...

Judijudi · 02/11/2022 20:54

Sitting on the sofa now it’s 90-100, goes from 60 to 150 throughout the day but this is the gift of long covid and now on multiple meds to lower heart rate as it was sitting around 130-160 before treatment

FindingMeno · 02/11/2022 20:57

Mine has always been in the 80's, sometimes even up it to the 90's.
This has been the case regardless of fitness level or age so I guess it's normal for me.

euff · 02/11/2022 20:57

Resting heart rate 63. I'm unfit and almost obese. It used to be high 50's. DM and DSis also have low heart rates. Never been flagged as a problem.

longcoffeebreak · 02/11/2022 20:58

You guys are making me feel better - mine is often about 40 but has dropped in the last few years from 50 something.

I get asked if I am fit - I probably run 3 or 4 days a week and walk the dogs a few
miles a day, do yoga etc but am hardly an endurance athlete (am 52) although did go through a phase of overtraining and triathlons a few years ago.

I have been getting worried it is something sinister but looks like not that unusual.

chisum · 02/11/2022 20:59
  1. I'm nearly 60 and pretty active
AdoraBell · 02/11/2022 21:00

I can’t find my pulse 🤦‍♀️

Letthekidsplay · 02/11/2022 21:01

My husbands was about 45-50 and didn’t go up when he exercised. He saw a cardiologist and was told he needed a pacemaker within two weeks.

itsnotdeep · 02/11/2022 21:05

mine varies between 50 and 66. I'm 52 and relatively fit. It's higher when I'm pre-menstrual. Or have had a drink (even the next day). or have eaten a lot of sugary stuff.

ScrambledOrPoached · 02/11/2022 21:09

About 70. Mid 30’s, on the cusp of being overweight. Not fit but not a slob. It’s always been on the higher side, my entire life.

Rooster25 · 02/11/2022 21:12

Mine is around 38-39

Lisa3344 · 02/11/2022 21:16

Mine is 58 and I go to the gym 5 days a week. I used to run and it was around 48-50 then

Isabelle70 · 02/11/2022 21:16

Glad I am off to the doctor next week for annual blood pressure check, mine is approx 86 and I am 52 yrs.

Indoctro · 02/11/2022 21:18

According to my garmin watch between 43-46 over the last year is my average

I run a lot so assume that's why it's low. I take it as a good sign.

Tromboncini · 02/11/2022 21:19

45-50 average but usually below 50. I’m 44 and physically fit. I also have low blood pressure, always been like that.

Yours is on the low side but within the range of normal.

Anjcat · 02/11/2022 21:19

I’m really surprised by the amount of people on here who have below normal heart rate
🤔
BHF says heart rate below 60 bpm while resting is too slow for most people. A slow heart rate, also known as bradycardia, can be normal for people like athletes who are very fit. If you have a slow heart rate and are experiencing symptoms like fainting and tiredness, you should make an appointment with your GP.

IWishICouldDance · 02/11/2022 21:21

Mine is around 55-60 it was slightly lower when I used to run lots, my husband's was in the 40s when he was marathon running. I wouldn't say it's especially low, if you are fairly fit it's what I'd expect.

Tromboncini · 02/11/2022 21:21

@Anjcat

Mostly below 50 is considered low but it’s v dependent on fitness and only if you are having the symptoms listed. I know this as am under a vascular consultant for another issue.

Reduxrabbit · 02/11/2022 21:24

53 tonight after two glasses of wine and a g &t - 24k steps today as on holiday , always low - 45 normal when fit, mid 50s

QuietNeighbour · 02/11/2022 21:26

I’m age 51 and resting HR is 43 according to Garmin. I swim, run, row, and lift weights. I’m also on a year off booze which has shaved a few BPM

QuietNeighbour · 02/11/2022 21:28

Oh and ride an indoor bike- nearly forgot. And walk everywhere. Actually I’m mostly sedentary despite the regular fitness work.
