DS needs a costume for tomorrow.

Nothing I have suggested is suitable.

I can't do anything about Amazon delivery times

We are skint.

I can't sew.

DS is upset but I've said he needs to be creative.

However - if you have any great free ideas I'll take 'em.

I completely get the 'not wanting to make too much effort' thing with teens.
Dd and boyfriend went as Velma and shaggy: she bought clothes, altered them, rolled her hair so it looked bobbed, wore plain glass dressing up specs. He wore a baggy t shirt and jeans he already owned.
Their friends: angel and devil; she wore a white dress with giant wings she'd made, a halo, covered herself in shimmery glitter. He wore black t shirt and black jeans, and a headband with little horns on.
Why are teenaged boys/young men so ashamed of being seen to get into the spirit of anything fun?

I love Halloween, we used to have huge parties when DS was very little, I would have 20 children to them and read stories, make a piñata. Take two days decorating the house. Then I would take him and about five friends out trick or treating from age 8 to 13. Then it went to just giving out treats to children. We had a fake hand shoot out the letter box, it made a little girl cry one year but oh my her Mum was laughing her head off.

Our road had a lot of children the same age and there was a cluster of ten houses who all decorated and gave out sweets. Alas the youngest which is my DS is now almost 22. My best was a corpse I made and I opened the door as a knife wielding bride in a huge 1970’s wedding dress and a mask telling children I had murdered my husband because he wouldn’t do the washing up. Too many of the Mums laughed too hard at that one.
