To not solve 13 year olds Halloween fancy dress

DS needs a costume for tomorrow.

Nothing I have suggested is suitable.

I can't do anything about Amazon delivery times

We are skint.

I can't sew.

DS is upset but I've said he needs to be creative.

However - if you have any great free ideas I'll take 'em.

At 13 he shouldn't need a Halloween costume!

Don’t be such a killjoy! I’ve got six 14 year olds here now getting dressed up for a party, it’s lovely!

Is your mum sorting out your costume too?

Nah I'm sorting hers

MolliciousIntent · 28/10/2022 16:35

Bedsheet with eyeholes. My DH's go-to costume for nearly 30 years.

Horrific! I hate dressed up kids knocking at my door unless they're under 5.

What does kids going to a party have to do with kids knocking at your door?

Lochjeda · 28/10/2022 16:36

For speed I always tear up old clothes rub brown eyeshadow over them so it's like dirt mess up hair face paint like a zombie and squirt fake blood on them.

As for the person above saying 13 year olds don't need a costume. Even some adults go to Halloween parties. My 13 year old is at a party tonight and 18 year old has two this weekend and she is wearing two different costumes. Lighten up. Q

Because the party would inevitably lead to trick or treating.

Anoisagusaris · 28/10/2022 16:37

Oh get over yourself @PeterRabbitIsNotHere

Zombie footballer or whatever he is into - easier homemade option.

Party is tomorrow, not on Halloween night.

Halloween is Monday, most trick or treating will be done this weekend.

cassianroared · 28/10/2022 16:39

This happened to me a few years ago, was invited to a party but didn't have a costume to hand.

I put some old clothes on, rolled around in the muddy garden, put some pale foundation and grey eyeshadow on, and went as a zombie.

Nope.

Whatsleftnow · 28/10/2022 16:40

Black top and trousers. Cardboard box on his head, painted or sharpied black with purple rectangle eyes (ended man)

If he has a bigger dad or older brother, wear their clothes over his head with some cardboard to create shoulders - headless person.

zombie just needs white face paint and some dark eyeshadow.

Toilet paper mummy

tissue paper with either watered down pva glue or flour and water glue can make interesting skin effects.

PeterRabbitIsNotHere · 28/10/2022 16:40

FourTeaFallOut · 28/10/2022 16:39

Nope.

I'll tell those that knock on my door this weekend that they can't be real then because you say so!

No it won’t. I’ve never heard of trick or treating on any day apart from the 31st. You must live somewhere odd!

BertieBotts · 28/10/2022 16:41

I despair, mine is like this as well "I need to do this tomorrow" "Well it's too late now!"

There are probably some costumes you can do with stuff you have around the house. Get him to look through his clothes drawers, dig through your own clothes, coats, any random stuff and get ideas.

PeterRabbitIsNotHere · 28/10/2022 16:41

Yeah really odd, Manchester.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 28/10/2022 16:41

@PeterRabbitIsNotHere nobody will be trick or treating around here until Monday because, as you pointed out, that's when halloween is.

My 15 and 17 year olds have costumes for parties this weekend. They definitely won't be trick or treating

OP, does he have school trousers and a school shirt? Mess his hair up, stick gel or hairspray through it and flour his face to make some sort of zombie thing?!

Theimpossiblegirl · 28/10/2022 16:42

So many fun sponges...

A zombie is always a good idea for an easy costume. Or a Stranger Things character or someone from another popular show.

Solasum · 28/10/2022 16:44

Have you got any plastic/rubber snakes or insects knocking around? Tack onto clothes/ bung in his hair if so…

titchy · 28/10/2022 16:44

It doesn't really matter when trick or treaters come does, given that OP and the other posters are talking about a costume for a party, and party does not equal trick or treating. It's weird you should think it does frankly.

Abraxan · 28/10/2022 16:47

Horrific! I hate dressed up kids knocking at my door unless they're under 5.

Most Halloween parties for teens don't lead to T & Ting I guess.

Dd is 20y and dressing up for Halloween. She's at a party and then onto some university club night I believe. It won't involve T&T.

She's been going to Halloween dress up parties since being a teenager at school and never been T&Ting as part of them. Infact I can only think of her ever going out for that once when much smaller - was t linked to a party that time either.

ChocolateCroissantCafe · 28/10/2022 16:47

The Ghosts characters are a good shout. Or if you have any old make up you can do a generic spook/vampire of some kind. Can he dress up but not as something spooky? Thinking along the lines of off-duty Marvel characters, could be quite easy, though maybe not enough of a costume for him?
