DS needs a costume for tomorrow.

Nothing I have suggested is suitable.

I can't do anything about Amazon delivery times

We are skint.

I can't sew.

DS is upset but I've said he needs to be creative.

However - if you have any great free ideas I'll take 'em.

My 11 year old is going as Slenderman. Pretty easy to throw together.

BreakfastClub80 · 28/10/2022 18:20

DD13 is going to a party as a spy (black tie, jacket, sunglasses) /mEn in black type - so not traditional but still fancy dress.

BellaVida · 28/10/2022 18:20

This?

Flour and water. Mix to paste and put on like a face mask. Looks awesome when it dries (although can irritate sensitive skin).

Banthafodder · 28/10/2022 18:23

Ah, yes - fun sponge is a great shout for a costume idea, @SkylightSkylight 😁

sheepdogdelight · 28/10/2022 18:23

Horrific! I hate dressed up kids knocking at my door unless they're under 5.

Opposite here. A child under 5 presumably has a parent in tow and I've never understood whey parents would take their preschoolers to strangers' houses to get sweets (presumably the exact opposite of what they would normally do). At least wait until they are school age and have a bit of a clue what's going on.

sheepdogdelight · 28/10/2022 18:26

Why is DS not sorting his own costume?

(At 13 DD wore a long black skirt, black crop top, a witch's hat, too much mascara and painted her nails purple. All stuff she had normally apart from the witch's hat which was lurking from a previous Hallowe'en. Probably doesn't help you for a boy. But what does he have that might be repurposed?)

He should go in his normal clothes and tell them he's a serial killer.

One of my friends went as a “cereal killer” once - decorated a cardboard box to look like a box of cornflakes, splashed red paint over it and got some braces to clip onto the top and wore it over their shoulders. This was about 10 years ago but was an alright costume.

If they are, I'm going trick or treating. Can you still get Bacardi Breezers? I loved them!

I think Bacardi Breezers have been sadly discontinued.

I guess it would be those revolting fruit cider drinks these days

Jelly4444 · 28/10/2022 18:31

Pop on a plain black track suit and hoodie and get yourself on YouTube and learn how to do skeleton make up?

Unseelie · 28/10/2022 18:35

Toilet roll mummy.

Or something creative. Like he could wear a suit and go as a Tory politician.

Sevenwondersofthewoo · 28/10/2022 18:43

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 28/10/2022 16:33

Nah I'm sorting hers

Love it have a brilliant time

Hankunamatata · 28/10/2022 18:44

Laods kids round here wear their pe kit or football kits and paint face as zombies

Relevanceiskey · 28/10/2022 18:45

Dress him in his best clothes, get a purge mask (would be able to make one pretty easily) and a plastic axe or something from local shop and voila! All for under a fiver (presuming he has a jacket and trousers/shirt)

Milesty1 · 28/10/2022 18:45

What did you suggest that’s unsuitable?

AuntMargo · 28/10/2022 18:46

PeterRabbitIsNotHere · 28/10/2022 16:24

At 13 he shouldn't need a Halloween costume!

You're a bundle of fun !!

Newuser82 · 28/10/2022 18:46

Get a plain white t shirt, a pack of Kellogg's variety, pin the boxes on the t shirt , put some red paint on it. He is a serial killer!

RedHelenB · 28/10/2022 18:48

Any old clothes ripped up, painted red for blood and pale foundation for face and then some really dark eyeshadow.

bakehimawaytoys · 28/10/2022 18:50

Can you dig out some 90s clothes and he could go as one of the kids from Stranger Things?

Or a red T shirt with the sleeves rolled up or cut off, tin foil wristbands and a foil-covered "hammer" (shoebox and loo roll) to be Thor?

Bin bag cape, scar drawn on with eyeliner and some old glasses/sunglasses with the lenses popped out to be Harry Potter?

I was going to suggest pointy tin foil fingers to be Edward Scissorhands but i think that's showing my age Blush

ittakes2 · 28/10/2022 18:51

Old sheet cut out for eyes - ghost

ittakes2 · 28/10/2022 18:51

All in black with sunglasses. Men in black.

EconomyClassRockstar · 28/10/2022 18:52

I live in the US and 13yos absolutely can still go Trick or Treating as long as they still make an effort with their costume. They’re still in Middle School!

Toilet paper mummy?

This gets my vote! Comparatively cheap and so much fun. Just don't go out in the rain...

A friend of a friend of mine suffered with bad burns when their mummy loo roll costume caught fire ... not to sound like a massive killjoy but just flagging up that it can be dangerous.

Ah maybe not then

TheOrigRights · 28/10/2022 18:54

Sheet like a poncho.
White face paint and fake blood over the face and poncho.
