DS needs a costume for tomorrow.

Nothing I have suggested is suitable.

I can't do anything about Amazon delivery times

We are skint.

I can't sew.

DS is upset but I've said he needs to be creative.

However - if you have any great free ideas I'll take 'em.

Ghost - white sheet

Nottogetapenny · 28/10/2022 19:01

Old white sheet, cut into strips and bandage around him, just like a ‘mummy’

At 13 he shouldn't need a Halloween costume!

Well you're fun. My partner and I are both in our late 60s and are both dressing up tomorrow, as are the rest of our family.

Re T&T, it's quite a big thing our way, nobody has an issue with teenage T&T's provided they follow the usual rules:

Decorated houses only
Make some effort with costumes (note some, even if it's normal clothes and a bit of make up)
Little ones go first
Manners - please, thank you, polite comments on the fantastic decorations some households go to in order that the whole community have a bit of fun
Acknowledging grown ups you meet on the way, be that parents, friends parents, teachers etc

Generally not being an idiot.

Same rules here.

Only issue we've had is a child grabbing handfuls of sweets but did put them back when we said only one sweet each. I love Halloween!

Costumes I've worn:

Witch
Cat
Zombie
Bad fairy
Bat
Malice in wonderland
Devil
Wednesday
Dinosaur

Just to warn you, my DD poured fake blood over her head and covered her arms and legs etc with it. It stained, despite showering that night and twice the next day, and she had to go to school like it last year!!

Thanks for the warning. She'd probably find that hilarious but I'll patch test first!

I think Bacardi Breezers have been sadly discontinued.

I guess it would be those revolting fruit cider drinks these days

Wow I feel old now! I see Smirnoff Ice is still an option so will substitute that into my original post.

Darbs76 · 28/10/2022 19:22

Maybe ask on Facebook, someone might have something, or a mens small. Some great ideas here though

MrsMacnair · 28/10/2022 19:23

I very rarely bought halloween costumes for the kids as money was tight. Homemade as much as possible with the odd mask, charity shop find and fake blood thrown in.
But zombie was always my go to when the kids were growing up. It’s easy to do and all it need is old clothes that you can rough up and dirty and a bit of make up.

I remember the last time dd went out for halloween several years ago, it was all last minute and her friend didn’t have a costume either. Managed to cobble together a zombie and a killer clown from stuff we had knocking about the house

Tulipomania · 28/10/2022 19:26

Zombie is easy

nancyclancy123 · 28/10/2022 19:27

This one cracked me up ( no pun intended) 😀

Viewofthesea · 28/10/2022 19:31

Are there any blue dungarees in the house? And a red tshirt? He could dress up as Mario?

OhMalakas · 28/10/2022 19:36

This one made me laugh when i was looking for one of my kids. It's so bad it's good.

Umberella, pound shop battery operated led lights and some bubble wrap. Weave the lights through the soles in the top of the opened umberella . Cut the bubble wrap into wavy strips and tape them onto the very edge of the Umbrella trailing down to the floor. Jellyfish. Extra points for spray/ painting the bubble wrap in pastel colours or adding ribbons etc.

Brokenfurnitureandroses · 28/10/2022 19:43

Tape some small cereal boxes to the clothes. Voila, a “cereal” killer…

chali7 · 28/10/2022 19:46

Charity shop! I rely on our local one for the constant school dress up days. They're superb and always have a huge range, even Halloween costumes.

Failing that ... Black clothes you already own, white face paint, fake blood, ripped old clothes, cheap mask from a pound shop, etc etc

wellingtonsandwaffles · 28/10/2022 19:51

At uni I got a massive t shirt from a charity shop then burnt it and put ketchup and brown sauce on it for blood stains… with a ton of back combing and make up I was an effectively disturbing zombie, despite setting off the fire alarm and smelling of tomatoes!

SuSen · 28/10/2022 19:53

Have a look on Facebook marketplace, loads of cheap and free costumes.

What? My 20-year old and his friends are going to a party as Backstreet Boys. I have to tell him there is an age limit..

You could go as the Grinch, if you change your mind!

bloodyeverlastinghell · 28/10/2022 19:58

If you have a head size box you can paint it and go as Minecraft character. Sheet = ghost, sunglasses on outside sheet. Any old clothes rip them up a bit dirt and fake blood and you’re a zombie.

Theimpossiblegirl · 28/10/2022 20:03

@fruitstick
We're all really invested now. Please let us know what he goes as.

ThirdTimeIsTheCharm · 28/10/2022 20:09

My son is going as Fight Club, all you need is a white shirt , a loose black tie, fake blood and messy hair.

Whoopy · 28/10/2022 20:09

PeterRabbitIsNotHere · 28/10/2022 16:39

Halloween is Monday, most trick or treating will be done this weekend.

Why on earth would it be done over the weekend? People don’t just decide their kids can go out guising on a random day, plus the only time “trick or treat” is done on a different day to 31st October, is when it falls on a Sunday!

Weezol · 28/10/2022 20:12

Barcardi Breezers are now called 'pre- mixed cocktails' for some unknown reason.

You can get them Here
