DS needs a costume for tomorrow.

Nothing I have suggested is suitable.

I can't do anything about Amazon delivery times

We are skint.

I can't sew.

DS is upset but I've said he needs to be creative.

However - if you have any great free ideas I'll take 'em.

Toilet paper mummy?

A guy at my university died after doing this and accidentally getting set alight.

😂 The idea of the majority of teenagers at a house party leaving to go trick or treating is ridiculously naive. Unless people are handing out cider and Bacardi breezers instead of sweet these days.

This 100%!

My 16yo (going as Cupid btw) is partying but definitely not trick or treating. She’d do it for a Malibu though 🤣

fruitstick · 28/10/2022 20:15

Blimey this has got quite the replies.

He has just emerged from his room. I'll report back.

Well you're fun. My partner and I are both in our late 60s and are both dressing up tomorrow, as are the rest of our family.

Think she means for going around the doors.

I stopped wearing a costume for this purpose around age 10 (this was Halloween in 1990), although I still went round the houses (wearing a mask) with my younger sister for a few years after.

A party you can be any age.

PeterRabbitIsNotHere · 28/10/2022 16:24

At 13 he shouldn't need a Halloween costume!

Why not? He's 13. A child. Why shouldn't he still be having age appropriate fun?

ThirdTimeIsTheCharm · 28/10/2022 20:09

My son is going as Fight Club, all you need is a white shirt , a loose black tie, fake blood and messy hair.

Oh that's clever.
But he can't tell anyone...

Apologies! What you going as?

Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. DH is Jack and DS is zero

Jellybean23 · 28/10/2022 20:30

Paint a skeleton on a black sack with white emulsion paint, Cut arm and head holes

Thanks! You too!

Anxietyandwine · 28/10/2022 20:33

Make him a tinfoil hat and send him as an flat earther/anti vaxer/etc.

pair of specs and say he’s Jeffrey Dahmer.

raid the first aid kid, wrap him in bandages and he’s a mummy.

Or write on a tshirt like the pic

One year for one of my DC, I cut out bones (thighs, shins, humerus, radius, pelvis, basic rib cage, a bit of spine) from an old white sheet, and safety pinned them on to a pair of black jeans and a long sleeved black t-shirt, voila - a skeleton!

Nonimai · 28/10/2022 20:41

A bullet hole in the forehead made with red and black food dye ( in the little tubes)- put a drip of red coming out of a nostril.

PinkButtercups · 28/10/2022 20:44

Zombie. Easiest thing to do.

Calandor · 28/10/2022 20:56

Tell him to dress like a cartoon character. They always wear the same clothes, usually normal clothes just in particular colours, and do his hair like them.

AdaColeman · 28/10/2022 21:32

The cartoon character idea is a good one, perhaps the slightly scruffy Shaggy Rogers or the more neat and clean cut preppy Fred Jones from Scooby Doo?
All depending on what clothes you have available.

workingeverysingkeday · 28/10/2022 21:42

Just bought DS a plain white shirt in Tesco which he's chucking some fake blood on to out. Hes nearly 18

Dippydonky · 28/10/2022 22:04

Ohhh I love fancy dress!

Brilliant practice for university - no money, elaborate themes (or at least that was my experience!)

no new suggestions, I just want to know what he’s going as!

Sux2buthen · 28/10/2022 22:26

Just throwing it out there....has anyone suggested cereal killer? 🤣

I do like the minecraft idea though

ThisIsNotThePostYourLookingFor · 28/10/2022 22:27

Google ‘pun on words’ costumes

you could do cereal killer? Normal clothes, cereal
box and a knife?

MagicFarawayTea · 29/10/2022 13:42

Why should a 13 year old not need a costume? That’s weirdly judgmental

ArticSaviour · 29/10/2022 14:00

Old shirt.

Staple the little cardboard boxes from a multipack of cereal onto it

Splash with red paint.

'Cereal' killer.....

WhosafraidofVirginiaWoolf · 29/10/2022 14:03

@TheOtherBoleynGirls Or you could just use your DD's guide's hat over a worn sheet.

A Ghoul Guide.

Theimpossiblegirl · 29/10/2022 14:26

Ooh I know...
Cereal Killer

It's the new cancel the cheque

Testina · 29/10/2022 14:59

The only thing that’s funny about “cereal killer” is how few adults here seem to realise that 13yo’s would find that totally lame 😉

fruitstick · 30/10/2022 08:25

I am definitely saving all of these for next year.

In the end he went with vampire, using an old cloak I found in the wardrobe. He refused to look like he'd made too much effort.

The adults had definitely put more into the occasion.

I was aiming for Bellatrix Lestrange but end up erring towards chubby goth.
