To wonder why everyone likes mcdonalds?

Walked past today. Very long queues. Maybe half term, but then they always seem to be busy.

What is the big attraction?

McDonalds has iPads in now with games, projectors, a little bit of a play area for kids and table service. Generally keeps the kids happy with chicken nuggets.

Certainly not a regular thing for us but take my kids every few months after a long day out.

I used to love the breakfasts after hangovers but felt gross afterwards.

Now I think the apple pies are the best 😂

FarmerRefuted · 26/10/2022 23:38

This isn't my actual local McDonald's but my local McDonalds has a softplay like this. £2.49 for a Happy Meal and the kids can play for up to an hour for free.

Exactly. When you’re a parent looking for something affordable that keeps the kids happy for an afternoon it’s the easy option. Harmless when done rarely not as a regular habit.

I think I know where I'm taking the DC tomorrow....

Do they use that though?

@FarmerRefuted are you in the U.K.?

I've never seen one like that in the U.K., but it takes me back 30 years when I lived in NZ & McD's we're like that!! Happy Days 😊

Brokendaughter · 27/10/2022 00:34

Not everyone likes McDonalds.

I have never liked them & didn't think they tasted like meat the only time I ever tried one of their burgers, but everyone has different tastes & plenty of people do enjoy it.

As long as people aren't living off it as their only hot food, what's the harm?

JennyNotFromTheBlock · 27/10/2022 01:05

Why do people like ice cream? Or chocolate? Because it's yummy. Same with McDonalds. Does it really need explaining?

Tasty, cheap, quick.

millerpie · 27/10/2022 01:35

We have four in our nearest city, all have become absolutely rubbish over the last few years. Lukewarm, either undercooked or over cooked stale fries and a burger that looks like it’s been thrown at a wall.

Emily1583 · 27/10/2022 01:39

I can't stand McDonald's, KFC, Burger King and the like. I think it's just a case of people being sheep to well targeted advertising awareness.

kateandme · 27/10/2022 01:41

Nostalgia

Or, maybe people genuinely like the taste?

Saying you can't stand these places is like saying you can't stand chocolate.

CookPassBabtridge · 27/10/2022 01:42

Fast service, tasty reliable food, nostalgia, cheapish, delicious.

What about the other takeaways selling burgers, chicken burgers, chicken wings and saying they are Halal?
Are they Acceptable?
As they are Very Busy.

I find it tastes very artificial. I can taste the abundance of salt and saturated fat, plus the restaurants just generally stink. I can smell it on my clothes after I've been in.

Not sure what that's got to do with McDonald's.

Me neither , but it sounds good.

80sMum · 27/10/2022 02:04

I think it's very deliberately engineered to be addictive. It's intended to override the body's natural restraint mechanisms and fool it into thinking it wants more.

It's a weird sensation. I know I'm not keen on McDonald's and yet when I'm out and need to eat and there is no other choice, I do eat there (a couple of times a year, usually). When I finish eating, I always feel like I could walk up to the counter and order the meal again and eat it all over again. Why? I don't even like it, yet my brain tells me that I crave it.
Thank goodness I live 12 miles away from the nearest branch!

auntiemabelisveryable · 27/10/2022 02:16

I don't love it.

It's always cold and rubbery!

Furries · 27/10/2022 02:47

I wish they’d kept the Chicken Big Mac as a permanent item - that was my guilty pleasure for a short time.
