Walked past today. Very long queues. Maybe half term, but then they always seem to be busy.

What is the big attraction?

I temember the first day they reopened after lockdown there were massive queues at the local drive thru, spilling out onto the road and causing traffic problems.

I can't understand adults doing that just for burgers and chips.

Also, our nearest branch is about 4 miles away and I've been told that they refuse to deliver to anywhere further than 2 miles away - presumably because it's already cold enough when they hand it straight to you in the 'restaurant', so I'm guessing they'd just end up refunding every order when people over two miles away received it stone cold.

Our great local Chinese and Indian takeaways, on the other hand, sell food that you could drive 20 miles with and it would still be piping hot when you open it.

Crap in a bap.

BlueWalnut · 26/10/2022 22:44

Disappointing food. I don’t get why people think it’s cheap. Spend a tenner there and you will be hungry again a few hours later.

user1497207191 · 26/10/2022 22:48

It’s cheap,
it’s quick,
its consistent

nootsy · 26/10/2022 22:48

it's also nostalgic for me

Thursa · 26/10/2022 22:50

I didn’t mind it when we lived in Europe, but we moved to America four years ago and have been to MacDonalds once. It was disgusting. Tasted like spit and salt. On the bright side, moving to America has pretty much cured me of my fast food habit.

user1497207191 · 26/10/2022 22:53

I also love being able to order on the screens or on the new app.

Calandor · 26/10/2022 23:01

It tastes nice, always tastes the same, is very cheap. Obviously.

Boating123 · 26/10/2022 23:02

Good advertising/marketing.

Calandor · 26/10/2022 23:03

It's not even that crap anymore. Less calories than a restaurant meal, all chicken breast, sodium has been lowered a LOT.

It's not healthy but with a balanced diet it won't kill you.

FrenchOnionShoeBox · 26/10/2022 23:03

Would a McDs meet MN approval if it was eaten with a massive salad and/or lots of veggies?

This.

You know it's going to be the same whichever one you go to. If your kids like McDonald's it's an easy meal and very consistent.

Tothemoonandbackx · 26/10/2022 23:09

@Thursa spit AND salt 😂😂 what kinda diet are you on, lol 😆🤭

Shouldawouldacoulda30 · 26/10/2022 23:11

I have a sneaky double cheeseburger if I need to go to our local industrial estate…it’s my secret indulgence…absolutely amazing 🤩

AlwaysLatte · 26/10/2022 23:20

My children used to like it as an occasional treat, and it's half term so maybe that's why it was busy. They persuaded us to go to Nando's earlier which they seem to prefer now, thankfully!

Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov · 26/10/2022 23:22

I think they sprinkle nicotine and cocaine on the nuggets. There's no other explanation. See also Pringles.

I don't know that, but we tend to find that one McNugget feeds 12 of us for at least 4 proper meals.

TheSausageKingofChicago · 26/10/2022 23:25

I really want a Maccies now

I could get four Happy Meals for £10 or two adult meals, no way would I still be hungry after that.

For the KFC haters, have you tried Slim Chickens? It's like KFC but nicer. All the chicken cooked to order so its still crispy, bottomless drinks, garlic bread as standard, and - this is so wrong but tastes so good - gravy mayo.

I hope you boil the leftover stripy coating to make stock afterwards otherwise its just wasteful.

FarmerRefuted · 26/10/2022 23:31

Stripy? Crispy...

No idea!

I like fast food 'proper fish n chips' but only have takeaway burgers, pizza etc., if there is no other choice. I'm not really a fan taste/texture-wise of most ultra-processed food and will buy some decent beef mince burgers and cook them at home if I really fancy one.

I also think it's comparatively expensive compared to some other options but I might be wrong on that.

I remember liking the hot fried apple pies about 30 years ago when a student!
