Just that really.

Been with DP for 2.5 years, we have an 8mo together and our relationship is good and he's a good dad to DD. He's currently working away and this afternoon I had a message request on FB from what I assume is a teenage boy, although he doesn't have any pictures himself on his account, unless he's made it all private. He said he was DP’s son, he doesn't know if DP has told me about him but he wants to meet. I don't know if this is genuine or not, as he's never mentioned a son, neither has MIL, I've not met other family members as he doesn't speak to them.

I'm not sure if I should reply or not, part of me doesn't think I should but another part things I should. WWYD?

Sounds like my sons dad! He told his partner my son wasn't his and I already had him when we met. Fast forward 5 years and I think fuck him and rang CSA who made him do a DNA test. He probably hid the positive result from her tbh as they're still together.

NeedAChangeAsIAmSoooOuting · 11/11/2022 17:38

Oops should have added that I can imagine him acting this way to keep up with his lies.

3peassuit · 11/11/2022 20:46

I think your DH calling the boy a liar and asking you to block him sends alarm bells. It would be simple enough to do a DNA test and prove that he is not the father but for some reason your DH doesn’t want to do it.

Jedsnewstar · 11/11/2022 21:43

I agree with the others your DP is the one sounding dodgy.

DP doesn't want to do anything about it, he just told me to block the boy which I find odd as if he wasnt his son, surely he'd want to prove it?

Yeo sounds odd.

you could do a DNA test for this child and your son. If you wanted to know if they are siblings.

legalseagull · 12/11/2022 08:20

It's so obviously a scam!!!

Won't tell you his name
Won't show his birth certificate
Won't tell you the mothers name
Won't video call to show his face
Just sends a photo of (someone else's) ID with the name crossed off??

Bloody hell people, come on!

legalseagull · 12/11/2022 08:21

Of course you DH wants to block him. I'd block a scammer too! DH doesn't need to prove anything - this 'boy' does. He's making a huge claim without even giving any details to back it up. How can DH prove a negative

Agree to a DNA test

Perhaps the cost of the DNA test is what he was after all along.

Howevrr op’s DH reaction seems odd. Why wouldn’t he want to know.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 12/11/2022 08:30

@Jedsnewstar true!! I wouldn’t pay anything to this lad online, but I’d maybe tell him I’m getting a DNA and ask if he will provide a sample for it.

kinda glad I’m a woman and can be certain what children I have or haven’t had. If you’re a man who has had multiple partners over years that have been short term or you’ve not kept it rich with…it’d be impossible to know if you had a child out there or not.

Where is the scam, he's not asked for anything, the op isn't going to give him anything no scammers going to be wasting time on such a long unproductive con. Contacting the man, getting rebuffed, later contacting the op over a period of time, doesn't make any sense, a scammer would move on to a more gullible targey

I know posters on here think everything is a scam but it really doesn't have the characteristics of one

Maybe we'll never know but my money is on it being the truth or at least the boy believes it to be true.

If you read all updates - has told her his name - it's the same as her partners.

You must think bogof offers in supermarkets are a scam too if you think this is one 🤔😏🤣
