I always find the whole hatred of Megham Markle odd, no one who actually knows her has ever said a bad thing about her that I have read, only the opposite TBH. Only person is her dad who I find extremely uncomfortable to watch so not sure I can believe what he says. Only other person is Piers Morgan and has basically said its because she wouldn't be friends with him.

The press now prints stuff that has allegedly happened to do with the Royal family but no one has actually said anything there either. I am always arguing with my dad over her as he reads FB too much and truly believes everything on there.

I am really surprised to see Anton DB name crop up on here, I have met him loads of times and he is always lovely, he always remembers me even though it's fleeting meetings. I know people who have worked closely with him for years and say he's lovely.

I’m quite pleased to hear David Attenborough is a twat. It makes me feel better about not being able to stand him popping up on my telly every five minutes lecturing me about climate change, when it’s not me whose entire career is thanks to the wonders of air travel Blush

Yes. My irony meter peaks when I see him sat in some far away place telling me i should be kinder to the planet, then he does an interview where he proudly announces his travel took him the equivalent of 763 times around the world. Or almost 2 million miles.

I could just about cope with that, but he never ever mentions the entire teams he went with, the sheer amount of luggage and cars and stuff that had to be helicoptered/flown/shippped into wherever the most inhospitable places are.
Just so he could make a show, and now hes done all of that, it's a bad thing if we want to fly to Spain once a year. Pillock

Gabby logan before she got famous was spectacularly rude and disdainful to me at a social event where she was there as a 'plus partner' as was I !

I’m surprised about Martin Shaw. He was doing a charity thing near me and was assigned a university student as a runner (so about as low ranked as you get). The student said he was really nice - polite and cooperative.

He's often seen out and about and is always polite, when I first saw him I had that 'I know him from somewhere' moment, I think he realised and just said Hello, only later did I place him,
Can all the armchair critics honestly say they've never had an off day where thay aren't as pleasant as they normally are? Some of these posts are very not picking.

@cantthinkofabetterusername what's the Academy?? I'm so confused.
No idea 🤷‍♀️

Royal Academy!
What is the world coming to...?

I’m not normally this rude but how slow are people?

DH was a typo and should have been DA. It makes perfect sense, unless you’re really stupid Confused

They’re pretending they don’t get it just to be shitty to the OP.

I have a weird feeling about Dermot. He's never felt entirely 'real'. He's never been out and out rude but it just felt like an act. I never relaxed with him.

Whereas ant and Dec are basically the same on and off screen. Ants maybe a bit quieter. But funny, polite, good fun to work with. They're just ant and Dec!

Olly murs is a dick. Moaning and had delusions over his own importance...thought he was the star of the show. Spoiler alert, he wasn't.

I think that Dermot comes across as fake too.
Not a fan

@FlirtyMelons I actually agree with you as far as MM is concerned...I think she's gorgeous and all we hear about her is based on rumours and assumptions. Her dad is a slug.
And not wanting Piers Morgan as a friend was probably one of her best decisions...marrying in to the British RF probably not...

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 24/10/2022 10:51

I used to go out clubbing a lot in my 20s - we used to socialise in Westbourne Grove/Notting Hill a lot too.

I swear I saw loads of famous people, but I'm one of those people who basically wouldn't recognise most of them unless they were pointed out to me!

fromdownwest · 24/10/2022 10:51

That short little Scottish man from the Bodyguard, rude, abnoxious and smug

Cakecakeyum · 24/10/2022 10:59

James Cordon! I don’t want to say much as I’ve told this story a lot in real life. But… he’s rude and he’s a twat and I wasn’t surprised at all to read about his behaviour in Balthazar that was recently reported in the American tabloids.

I always think these threads are started by someone from the media.

Why? Many people in the media are showbiz reporters and have met many celebrities - nice or nasty. Or if they are not they could ask around the office for much more informed tales.

Ellyess · 24/10/2022 11:18

SerenaB12, I have had the same experience of David Attenborough. We were at a Conference, and he was in a queue behind me. I was speaking on another part of the Conference, and talking in the dinner queue to the Chairman of our part. He just had to butt in with some 'clever' remarks about something we said. But he was wrong. He obviously did not know the area of psychology we were discussing, nor the terminology we were using, but he still had to "correct" our terminology. I didn't answer, but our Chairman, a distinguished person in his own right, very politely put him down with a comment along the lines of gorilla's language not quite being Shakespeare.
I think the BBC is much to blame for raising people to a status of "Entertainment Royalty" which makes them feel superior.
Btw, I immediately 'got' your DH meaning DA - I've had similar brain fog for over 20 yrs and a touch of dyslexia too, so maybe we understand each other!

Apart from that, the most distasteful person I met .... Sorry! I can't, I've deleted it. I've deleted three lovely musicians and someone else everyone knows too. I got overwhelmed with guilt. Partly because I met them through my work, and partly because i felt like a gossip. Sorry.

A friend of my goes to the same gym in Chelsea as Louise Thompson (a reality TV Z lister from years ago; Made in Chelsea) and is always going on about how she turns up absolutely plastered in make-up to work out and is always looking around to see if anyone is looking at her. She's really tiny in real life.

It seems odd to go to the gym where one sweats wearing a full face of make-up. She also says that she always has a 'Don't you know who I am?' look on her face and seems rather ridiculous. She said that she speaks in 'very posh comedy accent that sounds like something from a Harry Enfield sketch' so it's impossible to ignore her.

I don't know who she is. Never heard of her and in my book she is not a celebrity.

limitedperiodonly · 24/10/2022 11:33

Over the years Gary Linekar, Johhny Wilkinson (just after they won the World Cup and being mobbed) and Jason Donavan have being next to me and have all been pleasant to the staff and patient with fans

@whatkatydid2013 In March 2020 on what turned out to be the day lockdown in the UK was announced, Jonny Wilkinson was meant to be keynote speaker at a lunchtime event I was at.

He bailed in the morning citing worries about covid. He did a zoom presentation which was a thing before WFH and which the organisers and venue managed to set up.

We all sided with the organiser because she was in a hole and she is a good person working for a good cause and never lets anyone down. He was really boring and everyone talked through his speech though he could hear us. Of course now I realise he was right and we were stupidly and dangerously complacent.

To be fair to us he was genuinely dull as dogshit as many top sportspeople who go into motivational speaking after retirement are unless you are a fan of the alleged "personality" or the sport or just like cliches about "being your best self every day". That other England rugby player Will "Bumface" Carling was the same though also not unpleasant.

But on covid I admit Jonny got the call right and we were wrong. He shouldn't have left it to the last minute though.

limitedperiodonly · 24/10/2022 11:34

"couldn't hear us" we're not that rude

CustardySergeant · 24/10/2022 11:36

Barnowl25 "Amanda Richardson - I love her. Had three long chats with her not realising who she was."

Do you mean Miranda Richardson?

Will Young was a friend of a friend at uni and was a nice guy.
Alan Titchmarsh smiles at everyone and does some things locally for charity.
I’ve seen Alastair Stewart a few times at our local train station or grabbing a coffee before the train, he gives off do not disturb vibes! I’ve never see anyone approach him!

DP has worked with Alastair Stewart and can confirm he is a good guy. My DM also met him via DP. She'd always thought he looked a bit scary and intimidating and was blown away by how friendly, charming and gracious he was to her. This was a few years ago but she still talks about him as though they are best friends!

That reminds me of what I am sure in an urban myth but sounds pretty likely.

Early on in his naval career PA bowls up to a VERY senior naval officer and sticking out his hand says “hi I’m Prince Andrew but you can call me Andrew”. The admiral looked him up and down, straight faced and keeping his hands by his side said firmly, “I’m Admiral [name] but you can call me Sir” and he and his senior entourage turned and walked away leaving him standing there like a lemon holding his hand out while others concealed their amusement. I hope it’s true.

Like all these PA stories, probably not true. I’m sure even admirals, captains, whoever, have enough sense to know their place.

In the military, its military and not royal rank that counts.

"Know their place" 🙄

Ohhhhh get a grip 😂

If you think it's ok to publicly shame a woman for wearing make up to the gym and talking in her own voice then it's you that needs to get a grip.

I see someone has already drawn attention to this but please don't name the Duchess of Sussex on this type of thread because, as most of us realise, negative comments about her are always inspired by a fundamental racism.

Wow! Sweeping generalisation!
Is it not permitted to dislike her then?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/10/2022 21:14

I am convinced that the best reply to "Do you know who I am?" is still "No. Do you?"

The best reply I've heard of is 'Hey lads, this chap doesn't know who he is'.

Georgeskitchen · 24/10/2022 12:47

I Don really think anyone can complain that a celebrity has been rude to them , if they've been accosted while going about their private business.
Different though if a celebrity being paid to appear at an event and being rude to their fans. They Will probably find they have a lot less fans if they behave in such a manner 😀🤣
