Or “possibly, if you used to do the night shift at Sainsburys.”
(No disparagement of said job, I did it for years!)

Fraaahnces · 24/10/2022 08:51

Craig McLachlan. Wanker. The only shock anyone (with XX chromosomes) in the biz had when he was found guilty of sexual harrassment was that it took so fucking long. I can tell you he’s fucking talented, but he’s a creepy bellend and I made sure that I and anyone I knew were never alone with him and that didn’t even work.

I always think these threads are started by someone from the media.

What? Who's DH?

Surely you’re not that thick you can’t figure out from reading it that DH is a typo and should be DA. Of course you’re not that thick, you’re just being bitchy. Lovely!

Fraaahnces · 24/10/2022 08:59

Also Pat Cash who very loudly announced that he didn’t want to be bothered by anyone when he boarded late at the front of the plane and the very, very young cabin crew member I was working with (different job) had no bloody idea who he was. He pulled a “Don’t you know who I am?” So she pointed out that his name was printed on his ticket. (That went down well.) Later during the flight while serving coffee another equally young cabin crew member said to me “I’ve looked everywhere for him, but I can’t see Pat Rafter anywhere!”
I said “Not Pat Rafter, Babe, Pat Cash.”…
“Oh, I’ve never heard of him. Who’s he?”
“He was a famous tennis player in the 80’s”
”Oh, no wonder I’ve never heard of him. I wasn’t born until 1985!”
Of course he was sitting on one side of the cart sliding lower and lower into his seat and his manager was sitting on the other side pissing himself.

Trinkethearth · 24/10/2022 09:06

My DH met David Attenburgh at a book signing. My DH was a teenager and couldn't afford to buy DAs book. But he had a comic on him. He waited in line and DA was lovely to him. He had a nice chat and he happily signed the comic, making up a witty comment related to it.

Chandlersthird · 24/10/2022 09:12

John Burton Race came to eat at a restaurant I worked in several times and was horrible to the staff. Rude, nasty man. This was shortly before his wife found out about his mistress and child and did a tell all in the press about his violent behaviour. I wasn’t in the least bit surprised.

I prefer “oh I’m sorry, do I need to speak to your carer instead?”

A friend who runs a popular establishment very loudly uses “excuse me everyone, can I have your assistance please, we’ve got a bloke over here who doesn’t know who he is…”

No idea 🤷‍♀️

There are lots of Royal academy’s - music, dramatic arts, science etc and in various cities.
Plus it can’t be true because I don’t want to believe it.

Are you thinking of Alison Hammond from Big Brother/This Morning. I’m intrigued to know what she did to almost put you off politics 27 years ago!

Especially as BB didn't start until 1999...

VirginiaQ · 23/10/2022 08:52

Well Richard Attenborough was president of the RA so would make more sense it being him than David as a previous poster said. Although he died in 2014 so must be an old story.

Ah! Now YHAT makes sense.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 24/10/2022 09:16

Anneofwindypoplars · 23/10/2022 09:16

I’m not normally this rude but how slow are people?

DH was a typo and should have been DA. It makes perfect sense, unless you’re really stupid Confused

People are just being obtuse to call out the typo - however, looks as though it was in fact Richard Attenborough not David who is said ass.

It's better than telling a second hand story to denigrate someone which is obviously bollocks and doesn't make any sense, though.

Megan Markle, and I have met quite a few AAA listers through work. The majority are polite or say very little.

You KNOW we want more.

2ApplesShortOfABasket · 24/10/2022 09:19

Didn't have a great encounter with Dec, Ant was charming though.

On the flip side, Rod Stewart is an absolute gentleman and his wife Penny is lovely.

Anneofwindypoplars · 24/10/2022 09:19

The only way that story doesn’t make sense is if you have serious comprehension issues.

Let’s say I write ‘my cat has stopped using the litter tray’ but autocorrect changes cat to car. Would you seriously think that my Toyota has started using a litter tray or would you elicit a modicum of common sense?

DA may be wonderful or awful. I don’t know, I’ve never met him. It isn’t beyond the realms of possibility he is thoroughly decent but had an off day.

So the "have a go at Meghan M" brigade take over the thread. Just a matter of time, I guess.

Well no, to be fair it’s Attenborough thread.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 24/10/2022 09:22

Jeremy Clarkson called me out for bad driving (he was right) and called me something unpleasant (but fair enough).
Melanie Sykes is a sweetheart.
my cousin met Michelle Obama at a school thing and said she’s just relaxed and joyful.

Mine is Kate Middleton, the new Princess of Wales. Met her through work, mind you, I meet quite a few AAA listers.

Why? What did she go?
My friend met her through work and said she is painfully thin but pleasant and even seemed a bit shy or under confident.

cassiatwenty · 24/10/2022 09:46

@SerenaB12

"Whilst unlocking the areas he turned to David H and mentioned he thought the last episode of xxx was the best TV he had ever seen. DH stood there and stared at him before saying coldly.. " I don't think someone like you should be talking to someone like me"

At least he's humble isn't he

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 24/10/2022 09:50

Not me, but SIL has met Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber for her work (lovely, a bit pompous) and people like Grayson Perry (I met him too) - very nice.

Talia99 · 24/10/2022 09:54

I’m surprised about Martin Shaw. He was doing a charity thing near me and was assigned a university student as a runner (so about as low ranked as you get). The student said he was really nice - polite and cooperative.

VoluptuaSneezelips · 24/10/2022 10:01

Might be showing my age here but met Toby Anstis back when he was a broom closet presenter. My friends had a huge crush on him, one made me run up to him as in her words I was a loud mouth and wouldn't be embarrassed. We spent a good 30 minutes sat with him chatting. He was such a lovely guy, commented on how polite we were as apparently he got alot of lewd suggestions/comments, underwear given to him etc and he hated it . He noticed my friends camera and asked if we wanted to get a photo with him, the lady with him took it for us. Wonder if she still has it, not seen her in over 20 years.

Met Mr T once when he was doing panto in the UK, well I say met but it was more like I accosted the poor bloke. Talk about making an idiot of myself. I ran into this cafe he was sat in shouting "Mr T I love you mate" at him, grabbed him in a hug and then ran out again. He didn't utter a single word. 😂

What did she do?
She worked on ‘Suits for years and even the Daily Fail couldn’t find anyone who had a bad word to say about her

Acting stupid to cover up being bitchy is definitely worse!
