Could the hospital have been wrong?

Hi all,

I'm 36 weeks pregnant.

Just a bit of advice please so yesterday from dinner time I was having period like pains in my back and lower part of my belly and they seem to happen every day 20 minutes so I called the maternity unit because I'm having a elcs and they told me to come in and check me over - they checked me over, there was some mild tightening but my cervix was closed and it was deemed not to be labour, doctor thought it might be baby moving around and stretching my uterus, midwife thought it might be braxton hicks - which was fine I didn't want baby coming yet anyway but it's been happening all through the night and is still happening and it's way more painful than yesterday so I was wondering could they have been wrong?

Should I keep an eye on it? I'm just worried as I don't want to leave it too long and not have a c section but don't want to waste their time again so just thought I'd ask here in case anyone had any advice.

Good luck! Was coming on to say I was in similar situation - 34 weeks went in to get checked as something didn’t seem right. Was told was not in labour did examination etc. I kid you not later that day I got home and felt like such strong contractions. I had awful braxton hicks with my first for a week so I just ignored them. Until I couldn’t… phoned a friend who drove me to hospital. I told them I’d been in earlier and couldn’t be in labour (too early and they had told me etc) I was 6cm dilated and most definitely about to give birth! Hope all goes well today for you. My tiny 6 weeks prem baby is 6 years old now and doing beautifully- I can’t believe the time has flown so quickly!

It's common to have pre labour like this, I was told this 25 years ago. I had 2 days of mild but consistent pains.

Hope all goes well @Tezco

The situation has changed. When you went in to be checked, they said you were fine but the tightening have increased and pain intensified. I would call up and tell them that and they'll probably ask you come back in again. You're not telling them they are wrong, but rather asking them to re-assess. Good luck op.
