Could the hospital have been wrong?

Hi all,

I'm 36 weeks pregnant.

Just a bit of advice please so yesterday from dinner time I was having period like pains in my back and lower part of my belly and they seem to happen every day 20 minutes so I called the maternity unit because I'm having a elcs and they told me to come in and check me over - they checked me over, there was some mild tightening but my cervix was closed and it was deemed not to be labour, doctor thought it might be baby moving around and stretching my uterus, midwife thought it might be braxton hicks - which was fine I didn't want baby coming yet anyway but it's been happening all through the night and is still happening and it's way more painful than yesterday so I was wondering could they have been wrong?

Should I keep an eye on it? I'm just worried as I don't want to leave it too long and not have a c section but don't want to waste their time again so just thought I'd ask here in case anyone had any advice.

Because before I got to the end I wanted to advise her it was best to go back.

Why don't you bother to learn how to interact with people without being so aggressive?

Why don't you read the thread before adding your comment?

Why don't you read the thread before adding your comment?

Why do you want to be nasty on a thread where there is a happy ending? Miserable? PMT? Just generally rude?

What exactly are you adding to the thread?

Flabbers · 26/10/2022 11:13

Doctors get it wrong
a hospital doctor dismissed me and told me all was ok even though i thought I might have obstetric choleostasis and my bloods backed it up
i called back the next day and spoke to a senior nurse and she spoke to a consultant and I was told to come in every other day for a month to be monitored, and to give birth at 37 weeks!

Reminds me of how when I was 8 months, didn't do weeks then, my waters suddenly broke but nothing else, I went up to the Naval hospital to let them have a look and I was admitted, the plan was to induce me on the Friday, this was Wednesday. I had a poor night's sleep on Wednesday because of lights, Thursday evening I had some discomfort and the Sister came and prodded me then gave me a couple of sleeping tablets so I could get a decent sleep.
When I asked what time they would start the induction she said breezily
Oh, you won't need that, you're well on the way!

Then why have you just given me a sleeping tablets??????????

Oh shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a fun night!

Congrats on your baby, OP! 36 weeks is good going! I had the same happening at a much earlier gestation. I went in, got an internal exam, with cervix seen as closed. Nothing to worry, I was told. Baby arrived the very next day.

Please trust your instincts, if you are in a similar situation and reading this thread. I always wonder whether we could have delayed my very premature baby's arrival if staff had believed me, and we had intervened a day earlier, when my cervix was still closed.

The early arrival gave my baby a rough start to life that may affect baby forever.

ancientgran

Not in any way intended as hostile or aggressive, but this information may be a help to you at some point.

You don't have to read the whole thread to see what the OP has posted right to the end of the thread. You can click on "see all" at the bottom of any of the OP's posts and see everything the OP has posted, so that you don't end up giving (good) advice that is far too late to be of any use to them.

They could have been perfectly correct yesterday ( cervic closed, just Braxton Hicks, which are like the body practising contractions but not the start of labour).

Today, everything might have changed. That is the nature of pregnancy.

Stop looking for someone to blame, it's time to take responsibility for your self and your baby.
