Unbelievable.

It’s awful!

More strip club than prom!

mommatoone · 19/10/2022 20:50

KimberleyClark- and that has nothing to do with anyone either! Pjs/prom dress/ bin bag. Who cares! Unless it affects your life, i dont know why people feel the need to be arsed 🤷‍♀️

Jayne542 · 19/10/2022 20:50

@SmileyClare what are you talking about?? Where can you see her fanny and arse?? How ridiculous and dramatic.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 19/10/2022 20:51

ReneBumsWombats · 19/10/2022 20:27

Of course you're entitled to that opinion, but you're not entitled to prevent people who think it's "nasty and judgy" from saying so.

I didn't say I was.

You just made that bit up.

SmileyClare · 19/10/2022 20:51

Of course I’m not excusing paedophiles! I’m saying it’s dangerous to allow a 16 year old child to go out in public with their arse and fanny on show. The same reason I wouldn’t let my 5 year old child walk around naked on a crowded beach.

The sex worker label isn’t nasty. It’s exactly what some women aspire to; influenced by a toxic diet of porn obsessed social media, only fans and an aspiration to have a sex doll look- the inflated lips, the body on show to use as currency, the belief that to be successful you have to look like as sexual as possible (see Love Island)

Thats why young teens shouldn’t be encouraged to emulate that look. It’s not nasty and judgemental to point that out. This is nothing to do with body positivity or feminism.

They are called OPINIONS. I don't know why YOU are so bothered (and 'arsed') that other people have them.

NameChangeForARaisin · 19/10/2022 20:52

I hate this judgeyness, look at Iran for what happens when we start to censor what women wear.

outtheshowernow · 19/10/2022 20:52

KimberleyClark · 19/10/2022 16:15

I think it’s cheap and tarty looking, and there is a middle ground between a “massive bridesmaid dress) and something like this.

Tarty looking ? How old are you 80

Stravaig · 19/10/2022 20:53

CrispyNoodles · 19/10/2022 20:44

Thanks for this, it's excellent. We seem to be going backwards ...

mommatoone · 19/10/2022 20:54

Too many pearl clutchers on this thread. And as for the comment about 'sex worker look'- think you have been watching too many series of band of gold!
Get in the real world , we are not in the 1950s where woman are changed to the kitchen sink.

If you're going to complain about people saying your opinion is nasty and judgy, you could use the reminder. It's freedom of speech, not freedom from any critical response.

SmileyClare · 19/10/2022 20:55

Well you can’t wear knickers and it’s cut out to reveal half an arse cheek so there’s your fanny and arse on show if you move about, sit down, get in a car or bend down, unless you’re going to stand motionless with your hand on your hip all evening.

mommatoone · 19/10/2022 20:55

@NameChangeForARaisin - totally agree with this re Iran.

WMA · 19/10/2022 20:55

OMG, looks like something a streetwalker would wear!! This is not sexy, or even attractive. It's just tarty! Completly agree with OP

Some vile comments on this thread.
That girl could wear that to Asda and shouldnt be judged!.
What the hell has it got to do with anyone else what she wears?
This is what is wrong with society ,and why im teaching my daughter to be herself and not give a shit what people think!.
And as for the comment about 'paedos and predatory men', does that give them the right to behave like that because of how a girl is dressed!?.
Lets teach our daughters to be confident and our sons to be respectful.

That girl could wear that to Asda and shouldn't be judged!.

Well, if you want your kids saying "Mummy! What has that lady got no knickers on?" . . . 😏

There is time and a place for every type of clothing, and this is certainly not "going to the shops" clothes, any more than a clown suit would be right to wear sorting fish on a trawler.

You are naive if you think otherwise.

Stravaig · 19/10/2022 20:56

If parents are okay with their underage daughters going out dressed like that, I can only assume they're taking a hefty cut of their earnings.

Paq · 19/10/2022 20:56

Gloryofthe80s · 19/10/2022 16:37

that outfit is more suitable for Porn than Prom.

Yep.

Agree - excellent article.

Clarklette85 · 19/10/2022 21:00

No its totally tarty, tacky and cheap. Also not at all age appropriate. I agree theres a middle ground between this and and something more traditional.

So what is a time and place to wear that outfit? Who makes the rules on that then 🤔.
Im not naive at all, i just live in the real world ,and think its disgusting that our young girls are being judged on what they wear.

I wouldn't wear it to work tbh

Thats your choice, no problem with that.
But why should someone be judged if they did?

DdraigGoch · 19/10/2022 21:04

jewishmum · 19/10/2022 20:07

So you're saying there's a certain figure a girl has to have to wear this dress? Careful now! Body positivity is very in right now.

As it's only available in size 6-8 or size 10, it stands to reason that those of a larger figure would not be able to fit into it.

jewishmum · 19/10/2022 21:05

So I had to give evidence at a police station and while we waited for the officer to call us in, a couple of men walked in to speak to the receptionist which quickly became apparent was for reasons to do with them being sex offenders.

Did I ask my five year old girl to sit the hell down next to me and keep her legs together, while I tugged her school skirt down over her bare knees? You bet I did! I did not continue letting her show off doing gymnastics with her knickers flashing and then blame the paedo for staring. It's my instinct as a mum to protect my kids from the gaze of potential paedos/predators.
