Wow! Nasty and judgy.

“Who the hell wears a dress like this to prom”. I think someone with a figure like the girl modelling it!
Keep those judgy knickers hoiked up @KimberleyClark keep throwing out the insults, it’s people with such a judgemental attitude like you, that really do have issues. Not people wearing dresses you don’t approve.

maybe try moving to North Korea or Iran if you want everyone to only wear approved clothing.

id have worn something like that when I was in my teens and twenties. I guess you’re more a twinset and pearls kind of gal eh?

So you're saying there's a certain figure a girl has to have to wear this dress? Careful now! Body positivity is very in right now.

MrsAvocet · 19/10/2022 20:11

I wouldn't want my daughter to go anywhere dressed like that, but I don't think it is any more, or less, inappropriate to wear to a prom than it would be anywhere else.

balalake · 19/10/2022 20:14

I'd prefer no-one went to proms at all.

SmileyClare · 19/10/2022 20:19

There’s a vast difference between a child going to a prom in this and a woman in her twenties wearing this out clubbing.

why are people insisting it’s fine for a girl to have her fanny and arse out “if she has the figure for it” and anyone disagreeing is “judgemental “?
Any parent allowing their 16 year old daughter to wear this to a prom is failing to protect them. Are we pretending paedophiles and predatory men don’t exist now? 16 year olds need guidance with their choices.

Liz1tummypain · 19/10/2022 20:21

Someone who's aiming for the sex worker look.

Exactly this. ^ People are entitled to their opinion, and it doesn't make them 'nasty' and 'judgy.' My opinion is that many of these dresses are minging and the women look awful in them. I am entitled to that opinion. It's a free country.

Americano75 · 19/10/2022 19:20

She'll catch her death in that.

Just what I thought.

She needs a vest.

PinktoothbrushBluetoothbrush · 19/10/2022 20:27

@KimberleyClark nobody I know of. I agree with you - it’s awful. Awful colour, no class at all (what happened to legs or boobs, but never both?!)

Maybe that is why it’s twenty quid 😜

Of course you're entitled to that opinion, but you're not entitled to prevent people who think it's "nasty and judgy" from saying so.

What's wrong with it? It's a bit 'night-out' but prom is a big thing for girls that age and they want to look like their peers/celebs they admire. Release the pearls.

It's hideous.

Gilead · 19/10/2022 20:29

Jeez Louise, so judgemental. ‘Sex worker look’ ‘cheap and tarty’. What a grim way to label young women.
I wonder too how the model willl feel if she comes across this thread?

knitnerd90 · 19/10/2022 20:30

In the USA. This wouldn't pass muster at many schools here, as they often have dress codes for school dances. However it's just been Homecoming season (fall football game and dance) and the dresses this year were short, skimpy, and had a lot of cut-outs. Some girls apparently say now that homecoming is for short dresses and prom is for long ones? I can never keep up with the trends despite having a daughter in 12th grade.

Its an ugly dress but im sure some people like it

It' is indeed an extremely ugly dress.

DdraigGoch · 19/10/2022 20:35

SmileyClare · 19/10/2022 19:34

I was expecting a lot worse

In what way? It exposes part of a naked arse, It’s short enough to reveal no knickers and the front drapes low enough to see a whole breast, the netting part is a nod to sexual fetish wear.
People are saying this is suitable for a 16 year old to wear and she should be applauded for wearing it? What?

Have you seen what gets worn to some festivals? It would be considered revealing on a beach.

CrispyNoodles · 19/10/2022 20:36

@Wheresmymoneytree What outfits have you seen men in that are tarty?

Have you seen Eddie Izzard lately?

Some vile comments on this thread.
That girl could wear that to Asda and shouldnt be judged!.
What the hell has it got to do with anyone else what she wears?
This is what is wrong with society ,and why im teaching my daughter to be herself and not give a shit what people think!.
And as for the comment about 'paedos and predatory men', does that give them the right to behave like that because of how a girl is dressed!?.
Lets teach our daughters to be confident and our sons to be respectful.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 19/10/2022 20:44

Crikey. I wore more than that during my cesarean….

CrispyNoodles · 19/10/2022 20:44

This is an old article but still very valid - www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2011/dec/01/feminists-pornification-of-women

Glitterspy · 19/10/2022 20:45

She looks like she has trapped wind and desperately needs to find a toilet with that pose.

I wore a very tight, small asymmetric dress to my “prom” (pre millennium so it was called a Ball), I don’t think slaggy dresses are unique to this generation!

KimberleyClark · 19/10/2022 20:46

people get judged for wearing pyjamas to Asda never mind something like this.
