They aren’t creepy. They give me the Wicca Pinterest board vibe that’s quite popular at the moment. My niece would love them.

@miceonabranch

Art for the hard of thinking. Chuck 'em in a skip.

I am also cringing at how rude YOU are too.

the irony of YOU calling someone on here rude

Spookypig · 20/10/2022 06:41

Umm I was all set to say YABU because they were a gift but then I enlarged the pictures and they’re bloody terrifying! The first one has a weird witchy/demonic sort of woman staring back through the mirror behind that cat - she looks like that demonic nun from the ‘Conjuring’ movie series. The second cat is wearing a collar with a pentagram on which is literally a satanic symbol. I’d not have them in my house, they’re scary and definitely a bit odd!

Tokyopirate · 20/10/2022 09:51

I absolutely love them but I am also often described by others as "Witchy" and I absolutely love animals, so go figures 😂

If they're not to your taste then just tell him, there's no point beating around the bush about small things like that. I'm sure he won't take too much offense.

Shanksponyorbust · 20/10/2022 09:54

I love the black cat one.

The other, the cat doesn’t look right and I thought it was an Afghan dog looking through the window at the cat. Hard no for me on that one.

Tokyopirate · 20/10/2022 09:57

Also, the Pentagram is actually a peaceful symbol of protection, to ward off "evil". It's really cool because it's one of the oldest symbols we have and has been used worldwide in various religions and regions including Christianity, Taoism, Ancient Greece, Sumeria and Judaism.

IndysMamaRex · 20/10/2022 10:03

I like them? Kinda cool in my opinion. But the only opinion that matters is yours, you don’t like them & that’s ok. Your certainly not being unreasonable your entitled to your own tastes in your own home.

id just say thank you that you appreciate that he wanted to get you something he thought was nice, but it’s just not to your taste & it might be better to return them. Or if he’s unable to then keep them in his own home. Just be gentle with him as remember the thought was there

SirMoose · 20/10/2022 10:38

I mean, I AM a satanist and my house looks like halloween all year round but I think they are quite ugly pictures and agree with the Wolf fleece association! It’s also making me think of those little resin models with a dolphin in. The general tat we all owned as 12 year old girls.

Lilimoon · 20/10/2022 10:43

@SirMoose you could do an AMA to dispel some myths 😁.

Charlottexo · 20/10/2022 10:47

The cats themselves are not too bad, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm not loving the creepy demonic nun in the background of the first picture!

SirMoose · 20/10/2022 10:48

@Lilimoon no way I saw how the last one went! Mumsnet even removed the thread and were so rude and ignorant about it in their sarcastic deletion message. A thread was then started in site stuff and the mumsnet made it very clear that they were not willing to learn, tolerate or support satanists on their site.

You do realise people are having a laugh?

Well the OP isn't.

Stars71 · 20/10/2022 11:21

Well the OP isn't.

I think you are taking the OP's and other poster's comments a bit too serious. OP is hardly having a nervous breakdown over the pictures.

It is NOT a satanic symbol, I know many find it boring but people seriously needed to pay more attention in RE then we wouldnt have so much ignorance of other cultures.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 20/10/2022 12:40

I quite like them but then I'm into that sort of stuff!

QuestionableMouse · 20/10/2022 12:46

RobertsRadio · 19/10/2022 12:07

They are creepy and that satanic pendant makes me very uncomfortable. I mean, unless you are into the occult, I can't understand how he thought that you liking cats would automatically mean that you like these pictures, it's a bit of a stretch, or did he interpret you "liking black cats" as you being interested in witches and black magic?

I would want them out of my house asap.

It is not a satanic pentagram. The satanic one has three points down and two up.

TabithaTittlemouse · 20/10/2022 12:48

They aren’t scary, they are just shit.

Who would buy their Christian girlfriend witchy pictures?

mycatisannoying · 20/10/2022 12:48

Holy fuck, these cats aren't just creepy, they're Satan's emissaries!

YANBU (but it was a sweet gesture!).

GenExer · 20/10/2022 12:54

Probably in the minority here, but I love them. The pentacle in the 2nd picture is a symbol of protection.

MarvellousMonsters · 20/10/2022 18:16

kingtamponthefurred · 19/10/2022 12:16

I think they are a bit naff but not creepy.

Very naff.

The figure in the reflection is a bit creepy but it's just a picture. All the fuss about satanic stuff and the pentagram is silly. Pentagrams aren't a sign of evil or harm, they often relate to family and protection.

But they are naff pictures, the kind of thing teenage girls who are dabbling in 'witchcraft' think are cool.

MyDogStoodOnABee · 20/10/2022 18:36

Does he own a fleece with wolves on it too? Bloody awful!

Hmm1234 · 20/10/2022 18:42

No! It’s Halloween soon they look fine

SuperBlondie28 · 20/10/2022 18:47

I'm a black cat owner. Love my cat to bits but would not have these pics in my bedroom. Strangely enough, my friend says my cat has glaring scary eyes 🙀

All I can say is, if he proposes do not let him choose the ring

Pertinentowl · 20/10/2022 19:05

I’m worried about OP not knowing what a Menorah is. Here you go OP, as a basic thing the cross is Christian, the Menorah is Jewish, and the crescent moon is Muslim. That’s the three faiths that came from Abraham that you probably recognise. When you get into Pagan or Religions with multiple Gods (Think Hinduism maybe) they all have their own symbols as you learnt with the pentagram. There are two main satanic churches in the world, one mainly the satanic church and the satanic temple. The satanic temple mainly campaign for separation of religion and state, individual rights, things like that. Almost like a protest group, more political than religious.
There’s a non Christian Sisters of perpetual indulgence who are queer men dressed as nuns but they follow a strict order of how they can be dressed and ranked like how a nunnery would be. They are a drag protest charity campaign group who went through and fought for the whole 80s aids epidemic.
aaaand that’s all the symbols of the top of my head.
