They're pretty cringe in a 'wolf howling at the moon' fleece type way

Don't think they're creepy or woo at all

JOFFCV · 19/10/2022 13:37

Fab Halloween decorations.

NotQuiteHere · 19/10/2022 13:38

Yes, they look quite unpleasant to me. You don't have to keep them, it is your boyfriend who likes black cats, let him have them.

SicParvisMagna · 19/10/2022 13:40

Creepy no, tacky af yes. Definitely giving me wolf fleece from some dodgy market stall vibes lol.
But it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it's what you think and if you don't like them just say. It wont do any good in the long run not to set boundaries on not just what you like, but that he can just change your personal space without your prior say so. Just tell him thanks for the thought, but they freak you out and you'd like to choose something else that would be more "you".

RosetteNebula · 19/10/2022 13:40

I LOVE them. I will honestly buy them from you.

Starburst8 · 19/10/2022 13:41

Not helping your issue but I actually like these. However that said, they are an acquired taste and if you're not into witchy stuff then I can see where you're coming from.
Be honest with him and move them or donate them if needs be :)

cinnabongene · 19/10/2022 13:46

They're not creepy but they do look like something Del Boy would flog down the market

emptythelitterbox · 19/10/2022 13:48

They don't scare me. The pics would be fine of a coffee cup or something like that.
They look like something a teenager would buy. Please don't tell us he's in his 40s and bought them Grin

Is he into dark stuff?

BananaCocktails · 19/10/2022 11:57

No He doesn’t live with me but I don’t want them anywhere else in the flat
I’ll probably just ask him to return them but I wasn’t sure if I was being a bit unreasonable As they were a gift
In one of the canvases there seems to be some sort of witch in the mirror And I’m sure that symbol in the other one is some sort of Satanic thing

They are gothic images and those two things are Wiccan/Pagan not Satanic... you can unclutch your pearls demons arent going to come out of the canvas in the night to drag Jesus from your soul.

speakout · 19/10/2022 13:52

I dont like them-not because they are creepy, but they are just not very interesting. Cliched, lacking in originality, juvenile, dull and naff.
Something a 13 year old Sabrina Teenage witch fan may have on their bedroom walls.
No disrespect to Sabrina fans or 13 year olds!

BitOutOfPractice · 19/10/2022 13:54

Whether they are creepy or not I wouldn't have them in my house on account of the fact that they are bloody awful.

TiredManDad · 19/10/2022 13:54

You're not being unreasonable at all, its better to say if they aren't your thing or before you know it you'll have a mural of cats doing a seance on your front room wall for Christmas 😂😂😂

BigglyBee · 19/10/2022 13:54

You have two choices here. Either you tell him and he might huff a bit and mutter about ingratitude, but he will either get over it or you won't see him again. Or, he will think you like this stuff and for every single gift-giving occasion for the rest of your lives together, you will get more of the same.

Honestly, you have to tell him, before it multiplies!

Dear lord they’re fucking awful….

Sorry OP but I wouldn’t be sleeping next to Demonic Tiddles and the egg timer of doom either.

Demonic Tiddles and the egg timer of doom 😂😅😅

My daughter actually has the one on the right. She is quite Goth/Emo though.

RosaMoline · 19/10/2022 13:59

Judging by some of these comments, don’t ever visit my house. My cosy 2 bedroom semi detached is practically a shrine to Satan.
I bought this cute little demon baby yesterday:

Zott · 19/10/2022 14:01

I find them creepy too.

QueSyrahSyrah · 19/10/2022 14:01

Oh bless him. I can imagine my DH buying something similar thinking 'she likes black cats, she'll like these' without looking too hard at the detail of them.

I quite like the one on the right actually (although it wouldn't go with they style of our house) but if they're not to your taste then be honest and tell him that you appreciate the effort and the thought, but they're not for you and is he able to return them. The danger in pretending otherwise is that you end up with more of the same in the future.

Where did your daughter get it?

Oh wow. I love the demonic Tiddles cats but this is a bit much even for me lol.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 19/10/2022 14:05

You could regard them as a Halloween gift and just get them out once a year?

oakleaffy · 19/10/2022 14:05

@BananaCocktails I was expecting a nasty Dick Pic thread, and to see these Gothicky cats was a great relief.

They definitely are a niche taste, , a bit 'Witchy', but they aren't offensive.

Bless him for thinking you'd like them.. the feline equivalent of wolves howling at the moon.
Black cat and moon isn't creepy.

Tiani4 · 19/10/2022 14:13

So is it your flat he's put them up in " next to our bed" when you say he doesn't live with you or is it his flat?

If it's your flat and he gifted them to you then just be honest "I appreciate the thought but these aren't my style"

I love cats
I like pictures of cute cats
(Not so much these 1990-2000s witchy cat drawings)
I don't have pictures of random cats up on my walls.

Most people that like dogs don't have prints of random dogs up on their walls! Maybe a cute photo on the shelf of Bobo their own puppy. But that's about it.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 19/10/2022 14:18

I might consider decorating my downstairs loo Goth and having them on the walls there.

Mojo777 · 19/10/2022 14:20

Oh, good grief 😔 Those are generic prints of witchy cats. They're just pictures and don't mean anything. He probably thought they were cute because you're in to cats. If you're not keen, take them down and explain to him that you don't like pictures with witchy symbolism. By the way, I have practiced witchcraft and druidry for over 35 years, and I'm not too keen on those pics either. But then, I'm not a cat person, I love dogs. Be happy! ❤️

Genuinely have done something similar 😂 the downstairs loo is the perfect place to let the weirdness out.
