IIRC Graham (QT) voted for Shapps then Truss last time I might be wrong tho

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 21:08

Johnson 42
Sunak 29
Mordaunt 16

AutumnCrow · 20/10/2022 21:08

Stuart Graham MP, of the fracking debacle last night?

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 21:09

Joe Armitage at joe_armitage
A Conservative MP in a relatively marginal seat told me his Conservative association members have already started sending very strongly worded emails demanding he back Johnson or they’ll no longer support him. I imagine this will be a huge driver over the weekend

So the members do get a vote after all!

SafeMove · 20/10/2022 21:16

If they bring Johnson back the Conservative party are finished in this country for an entire generation. This will end badly for them. The man cannot govern. Hence why he was sacked. People surely can't be okay with this. They just can't. It's plain wrong.

hesbeingabitofadick · 20/10/2022 21:27

Rishi drifting, now 5/6.

BirmaBrite · 20/10/2022 21:29

@SafeMove the problem is the people didn't get rid of Johnson, some still see it as a load of backstabbers in the party who did. He won the election for the Conservatives and as a result gave them a huge majority and then they got rid of him.
Now I don't like his poundshop Wooster impressions, I don't think he is a nice or competent person, but he did win the election and did give the Conservatives a huge majority. How many of those MP's who won their seat in 2019, did so because a chunk of the population liked Johnson ?
Would him being PM mean that more of them hang on to their seats at the next election ?

LexMitior · 20/10/2022 21:34

@SafeMove - and this is why the Tories are finished. The membership are nuts. The parliamentary party don't have to adhere to what they want.

I say that because the numbers are fixed. 100 plus is not an accident.

Frankly, the membership are loons. They will never know, will they, who voted for who in the ballot. This threat is easily defeated, and they are seriously thick. Remember, they fell for Truss. They are exceptionally stupid.

BirmaBrite · 20/10/2022 21:37

I also think he is lazy enough to coast along for another 18 months, let the real grown ups do the hard work and just spaff out some big words occasionally, drop in on Ukraine etc

Watching Question Time just now it seems a little like the Johnson era was a bit like childbirth and there's folk in the audience wanting him back as they've forgotten how bad it was.

It's astounding that vast swathes of tbd population still think of his as that jolly old chap with the funny hair.

Only a very few wanted Johnson back. Why is Jess Phillips so shouty? She should be cock a hoop that the Tories are in disarray.

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 21:46

Johnson 44
Sunak 30
Mordaunt 15 (yes down)

BirmaBrite · 20/10/2022 21:50

So someone who was kicked out by the Party is now leading, after they kicked out his successor after a grand total of 44 days ! Interesting times.

Truly gobsmacking

Apileofballyhoo · 20/10/2022 21:53

Oh my goodness. DH did tell me recently that all the Borisites got behind LT because they knew she'd be so bad she'd have to go, giving BJ the opportunity to come back. We thought it was slightly far fetched.

Charles should move into Buckingham Palace before Boris does.

I thought she did quite well actually. Jess Phillips. But that’s probably because most of the time she said what I was thinking.

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 22:03

Johnson 47
Sunak 32
Mordaunt 15

Rees-Mogg officially Team Johnson

In fairness Team Johnson backed Truss because they thought Sunak was a backstabber who was responsible for ousting Johnson in the first place.

DH has been saying since he went, he'd have another shot at PM. He's really unsurprised.

SafeMove · 20/10/2022 22:03

He may have won a landslide GE and got people their seat, but a whole world of shit went on between that point and when he was pushed. He got a vote of no confidence because his position was untenable and MP's knew that. He lied. Repeatedly. He was caught. With evidence. That evidence hasn't changed and he is still a liar.

The membership might think they reflect public opinion but they don't. That red wall was leant because of Brexit. This mockery and chaos is taking money out of people's pockets and the party at fault? The Conservatives. People don't forget being hit in the pockets.

But that's the problem. Listen to her tone. Voters hear it and don't like it

Yeh someone in my family said this to me when Truss got in I was nooo. Turns out they might be right

derxa · 20/10/2022 22:08

Whoever said Sir Graham Brady was enjoying this is totally correct. 😂
How do you become the chairman of the 1922 Committee? It sounds a delightful position.

sunnydaytoday0 · 20/10/2022 22:20

Would Hunt actually want to serve as Chancellor if Johnson won? More instability.

OP posts:
Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/10/2022 22:21

So presumably all of Johnson's old cabinet who resigned a few weeks ago will conveniently forget that and stick their tongues firmly up his arsehole in the interest of party stability?

Maggiethecat · 20/10/2022 22:24

BBC news on at the moment doing a montage and showing people holding up ‘Liz for leader’ placards during the leadership campaign.

Think they all need plastic surgery now!
