They’re intent on writing their own death warrant, aren’t they?
RIP Conservative party.

GE before Christmas (is that possible?).

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 20:29

Tim Farron AT timfarron
There was a moment earlier today when I thought the Tories were going to get their act together. I needn’t have worried.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 20/10/2022 20:30

Well...
I guess GE by Xmas then?

MarshaBradyo · 20/10/2022 20:32

IrisVersicolor · 20/10/2022 20:27

I mean if we get Boris we get a GE so…

Why do you say this?

BirmaBrite · 20/10/2022 20:32

Would be interesting to see how many MPs follow through on their threats to leave the party if Boris does return.

How many of them owe Boris for their seat in the first place ?

Extremely unlikely.

Those threatening to defect are full of shit. There needs to be about 40 too.

I just can see a GE before May's boundary review.

CaveMum · 20/10/2022 20:34

Igotjelly · 20/10/2022 20:27

How?

Because a bunch of MPs have said they’ll resign the Tory whip and trigger by-elections. The current Tory majority is 71, if enough threaten to go there will be a hung parliament and/or a no confidence vote.

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 20:34

So what happens if he's sanctioned by the Privileges Committee? Their recommendations go to the House of Commons.

Just can't sorry.

He does what he did every time before: ignores it.

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 20:41

JOhnson now on 40.

Looks like he's pretty much got the entire whip's office - Guido Fawkes has him with 8 whips on his list.

Thats actually a big deal, if he needs discipline in the party.

Or he is forced to quit again and we get another PM...maybe Truss again, who knows?!🤯

Luxurysleuth007 · 20/10/2022 20:44

All of a sudden Great Britain doesn’t seem so Great any more does it. What an embarrassing mess at such a critical point in time. If someone had written this as plot back in 2015 no one would have believed it would ever be possible. The wheels have well and truly come off.

hesbeingabitofadick · 20/10/2022 20:46

Bookies have Rishi 4/5, Boris 11/4, Penny 7/2...

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2022 20:46

On the plus side. At least Liz didn't get time to redecorate...

IrisVersicolor · 20/10/2022 20:47

Igotjelly · 20/10/2022 20:27

How?

I don’t think the country will stand for him back. He was ousted for too many fuck ups and being thoroughly untrustworthy and if the party who voted him out vote him back in - it makes a mockery of them, damaging the Tories even further after the huge damage of this week.

It could never be a stable government because he’s only one gaffe away from another sacking and he has too many enemies like DC gunning for him.

hesbeingabitofadick · 20/10/2022 20:47

She's saved Carrie a fortune on new wallpaper.

TokyoSushi · 20/10/2022 20:50

Christ, it's going to happen isn't it? And it could happen as soon as bloody Monday!

Then I assume he'll just get the old gang back together and before you know it we'll have Raab, and Javid, and Steve Barclay, and that bloody lunatic Dorries back around the cabinet table.

Wow.

Six hours ago:

Sunder Katwala AT sundersays
Rishi Sunak 4/6
Penny Mordaunt 5/2
Ben Wallace 8/1
(Boris 20/1 isn't going to happen)

Its likely to be one of the top two?

Two minutes ago:
Sunder Katwala AT sundersays
Sunak 4/5
Johnson 11/4
Mordaunt 7/2
Wallace 16/1

The betting momentum with Johnson. If he has 100 MPs

The money is pouring onto Johnson.

TokyoSushi · 20/10/2022 20:53

Watching Question Time just now it seems a little like the Johnson era was a bit like childbirth and there's folk in the audience wanting him back as they've forgotten how bad it was.

It's astounding that vast swathes of tbd population still think of his as that jolly old chap with the funny hair.

TokyoSushi · 20/10/2022 20:53

Typos of despair!

hesbeingabitofadick · 20/10/2022 20:55

DH likes a bet...one of his little "tips" is always back the 2nd favourite when the favourite is odds on (needless to say it doesn't always work).

hesbeingabitofadick · 20/10/2022 20:58

Bollocks.

Boris now 9/4.

Shock
the80sweregreat · 20/10/2022 20:58

Is this why Graham on QT ( don't know his surname ) not committing to anyone ? Because he wants Boris Johnson back ?

hesbeingabitofadick · 20/10/2022 21:00

DH now pissed off he didn't get 11/4. 🤦‍♀️

He's been banished to the kitchen to make Brew
