I can't believe how politician-like he is, compared to Liz Truss!
Happy enough with the changes on the whole, what do you think?

OP posts:
Goodoldvera · 17/10/2022 18:30

He is a good communicator, much better than Truss (couldn't be worse) he did a lot of damage to the NHS when he was in charge, doubt many nurses would champion him

maudesvagina · 17/10/2022 18:31

He's a snake who wants to sell the nhs

Hoppinggreen · 17/10/2022 18:31

He is amongst my least hated Tories

Panauchocolat25 · 17/10/2022 18:32

He's not come up with any new ideas yet as chancellor though has he. All he has done is reverse what Liz and Kwasi did! We'll have to wait and see.

ElizabethBest · 17/10/2022 18:24

First he fucked the arts and then he fucked the NHS. So basically I think we’re fucked.

We were fucked before he appeared...can he do more damage? He'll probably find a way. 🙄

Wonnle · 17/10/2022 18:34

Typical Tory Scumbag

My next door neighbours cat is a better politician than Truss

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 17/10/2022 18:36

Op I agree.

I thought he sounded grown up.

He was honest and as transparent as he could be unlike Kk.

I feel marginally reassured.

donttellmehesalive · 17/10/2022 18:38

Selfishly I suppose, I'm a bit worried that the cut to income tax has been reversed and the energy price guarantee is now only until April. But I understand why they were and hope that he has done enough to reassure the markets and start to bring inflation down. It just looks like Rishi's plan now.

ImperfectAlf · 17/10/2022 18:39

The bar is so low, my corn snake wouldn't be able to get under it.

I don't think he's a cunt. He hasn't got the warmth or the depth. He's an arsehole.... small, and full of shit.

Pinkcadillac · 17/10/2022 18:39

He's brought back Osborne's austerity agenda. He's just set up an advisor's council formed by 4 fund managers from the City. I don't like either of these. One thing is to recognise the mistake of the mini budget and another thing is to use this to bring austerity back and blame the City for it.

DashboardConfessional · 17/10/2022 18:39

Wow.

Jeremy Hunt, 2016:

"Our ambition should be to break down the barriers between private and public provision, in effect denationalising the provision of healthcare in Britain."

He also wants to reduce the abortion limit to 12 weeks. He can get to fuck.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 17/10/2022 18:39

I instantly warmed to him when he said he was going to consult experts.

My gripe now is who are these experts?
It feels like UK is now governed by the market's and bank's.

Laughingravy · 17/10/2022 18:40

He's done a good job of being a 'voice of reason', with a side order of very careful critique in recent years about his parties policies. Often happy to be a nay sayer about some of BoJos antics and decisions.

Currently it looks like he's being pretty straight forward that taxes will remain high and spending will be cut. As things stand he's doesn't have much choice given the mess he's inherited. But as per usual he and his party will happily spread this burden amongst the least advantaged. Urbane, erudite, and well spoken he's still a conservative.

The only answer is a GE because no matter what they do it still looks like screwing 60 million of us to keep a few hundred in a job.

Whichever mate he fancies giving a large "consultancy" contract to.

He's a cunt!

I wholeheartedly agree

Agrudge · 17/10/2022 18:42

Bring back boris and rishi !!!!

xalo · 17/10/2022 18:43

By far the best of a bad bunch.

TheVanguardSix · 17/10/2022 18:43

I haven’t forgotten his previous shenanigans. Understand that we are still dealing with the consequences of his past actions in real time. You cannot polish a turd, is the takeaway here.

ImperfectAlf · 17/10/2022 18:45

This!
Though to be fair, whoever is in government is screwed.

JH can get to fuck.

VelvetHares · 17/10/2022 18:45

Two words. Junior Doctors. I can't stand him and wouldn't trust him an inch.

Pinkcadillac · 17/10/2022 18:46

His council of experts are: Rupert Harrison, who was a top aide to former finance minister George Osborne, Gertjan Vlieghe and Sushil Wadhwani, who both served on the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee, and Karen Ward, chief market strategist for EMEA at J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

Hunt has destroyed the NHS, what does this say about his regard for the common good?
Truss supports Kwarteng.
Hunt supports Truss.
This is just deck shuffling - not lasting change.

Nothing but a General Election will do. We have not had a moral compass steering us for 12 years!

This. Replacing the PM by stealth is a low trick even for the Tories.

Callipygion · 17/10/2022 18:47

pompomdaisy · 17/10/2022 18:01

He's a cunt!

This.
The reason the NHS is in meltdown started with him.

Callipygion · 17/10/2022 18:48

Agrudge · 17/10/2022 18:42

Bring back boris and rishi !!!!

I hope you’re joking!!

Hbh17 · 17/10/2022 18:48

He's a grown up. He didn't damage the NHS, because it became inevitable decades ago that the business model was unsustainable. It's just a shame that he didn't push further to modernise it and put in an insurance system.
