Or maybe Tuesday at the latest? Would she really want to face the absolute public humiliation of PMQs on Wednesday?

I like the necklace Dame Margaret Hodge is wearing...

IndigoC · 17/10/2022 17:04

That was all very odd. She just sat there, frozen, blinking hard, and then left again.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 17/10/2022 17:04

Wtf was she doing just turning up and grinning like an idiot and then disappearing again? I would be mortified if I was a Tory MP.

AutumnCrow · 17/10/2022 17:05

Comparing the scene to earlier ...

Mordaunt and Truss and Coffey have fucked off, and the others on the front bench have bunched up around Hunt.

Winterthoughts · 17/10/2022 17:05

hesbeingabitofadick · 17/10/2022 16:58

They had to put her back in the fridge before she began to melt.

🤣🤣🤣

vera99 · 17/10/2022 17:05

She has gone rogue our first-ever zombie PM. This.IS.A.DISGRACE.

Gone to check on her probably.

If she's actually having a breakdown- and I can find no other explanation for this bizarre behaviour - then the people around her really need to take charge and put her out of her misery. If she is unwell, then someone needs to persuade her to step down. It's cruel to let someone publicly unravel like this.

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 17/10/2022 17:07

It feels like the whole lot of them are on drugs.

jennakong · 17/10/2022 17:10

I wonder if Truss would be returned by the good folk of North Norfolk or wherever in the event of a GE? Has a PM ever been unseated in an election? I think I read the other day that Boris's seat in Uxbridge was looking a bit ropey.

Wouldn't Election Night be sensational, all the same?

Yes, this.

Yikes it is full on. I hope she’s gone before Wednesday

Utter chaos and worrying

Bollocks. And what exactly have the Tories done to protect women's rights? Bear in mind that Rees-Mogg is dying to get rid of woke maternity rights and equal pay.

Labour is committed to self ID. Any male, anytime can enter women's changing room, safe spaces, jails etc just by announcing they are a woman. I can't believe women don't see the danger. Rees-Mogg is a disgrace, and the Tories are corrupt and incompetent but that doesn't mean I don't see the risk that self id brings to the table.

Yes, this.

I think you're right she has blown up and is probably on meds to boot.

Jourdain11 · 17/10/2022 17:12

I hate to be undramatic and dull, but PMs often sit in the chamber without uttering while one of their secretaries makes a statement. It's basically parliamentary etiquette that you don't contribute on the record if the person making the statement is junior to you. So the PM won't speak in the chancellor's statement, the foreign secretary won't speak in a foreign office minister's statement... etc.

No clue what all Mordaunt's dramatics were about though. Maybe Lizzy came over Dizzy and got herself in Tizzy, because she's been so Busy...

The aforementioned poll is out:

Labour leads by 36%.!!!!

Largest lead for ANY party with ANY polling company since October 1997.
Westminster VI (16 Oct.):
Labour 56% (+3)
Conservative 20% (-4)
Lib Dems 11% (-2)
Green 5% (+2)
SNP 4% (–)
Reform UK 2% (–)
Other 1% (-2)
Changes +/- 13 Oct.

Its staggering, although we are in such bizarre times that my initial thought was it could have been worse for them. I was expecting something sub 20%.

Still time though.

SleeplessInEngland · 17/10/2022 17:13

The most interesting part of that poll is the 30 point Labour lead with voters over 65. That’s insane.

antelopevalley · 17/10/2022 17:13

@Wheresthebeach It is under conservatives that men have got into women's prisons.
Anyway Penny is tipped for future PM. She has publicly says she thinks a man can be a woman.

Oh right I wasn’t aware of that

FreezingThyme · 17/10/2022 17:15

It's like a scene from Sean Of The Dead. What the hell is going on. Truss looked drugged/shocked/traumatized. It's hard to know why she came into the session and why she then left. Was she told to turn up or told not to turn up? Why is everyone ignoring that the prime minister has left the chat?

They saw how she blew up the pensions - big red line has been crossed.

Yup. Penny Mordaunt is a massively ambitious, vacuous, half-witted, plummy-speaking, small-state twit.

tiger2691 · 17/10/2022 17:16

Whatever happen to a leader leading?

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 17/10/2022 17:16

This is going to be controversial but I'm finding hunt pleasing to listen too.

He seems far far more transparent and open than his predecessor. Infact some one has just said his tone is calm and competent.

He has said he will also consult the experts..

I'm not sure/convinced exactly who are his experts.... but after the shadowy dealings of KK AND TRUSS...this feels more hopeful.
